The only thing I know is that tdb files are Trivial DataBase files. So it's a database used by samba to persistently store stuff. The file I was refering to accidentally had "winbind" and "id" in its name, so I just deleted it to see what it gives. Seems I made the right choice. I have no idea how to view these files though. So after reading the traffic control documentation at shorewall.net I am a little confused. I don''t understand how to use the tcrules file. What I would ideally like to do is setup htb on a per user basis (either by IP or MAC address). If anybody has any hints on the best way to do this or is willing to explain the use of tcrules file a little better (how I could mark it per IP or MAC)

I have a CentOS server at home and want to view the X display on a laptop running Ubuntu, and not having much success. Here's what's been tried so far: I ran this command on the CentOS server: export DISPLAY=192.168.0.18:0.0 And ran this command on the Ubuntu laptop: xauth +192.168.0.2 When I try to run, say, xclock on the Ubuntu laptop, this is the error message I'm getting:

Hi all, Is there any way to automatically update the samba password when a user changes his unix account password using the passwd command. I want samba to look in passwd file for authentication. I dont want to create two accounts one for local unix and then for the samba. I am not planning to deploy ldap as a solution. Is there any workaround. Anish

Hi All, I''m using shorewall on my laptop(2 NIC) to connect my desktop to the Internal LAN. For some reason, MS''s SQL query analyser is not able to connect to the SQL server. I alway get the "Server does not exist" I even tried to connect to it using IP address rather than netbios name and it still doesn''t work. All of the access is fine. (eg: WEB/ping etc)

Hi, I'm wondering if there's a method for doing any of these 1. Check what's the physical memory available. free -m shows ~768 mem but I was sure that I had 1G of memory in there. 2. I check the kernel and it seems like the 4G split is in effect so it should map / correctly recognise there's 1G of Mem there. Is there any way to check besides opening up the machine to look at it

Hi, Sorry, I mean constantly increase of memory not decrease. The problem is that there are too many Samba sessions opened and eventually drives my server to a complete halt.
