InstantRails and SQLite
Hy, I''m using InstantRails for my RoR developments and it is really great. However I have a little problem since a few days. Here is the situation, I''m using InstantRails 2.0 with PHP 5.2.6 (I upgraded following the InstantRails procedure). I''m using MySQL as a database for my application but recently downloaded a forum (FluxBB) which need SQLite to work. My problem is

Ruby update
Hello, I''m using instantrails 2 to develop RubyOnRails projects on windows and need to update my ruby version to 1.8.7 (I''m still using 1.8.6). I downloaded ruby 1.8.7 here http://ftp.ruby-lang.org/pub/ruby/1.8/ruby-1.8.7.zip and unzipped files in the ruby folder of instantrails but when I check "ruby -v" I still got 1.8.6 (I tried a gem update and same thing, some gems

Render partial generate unwanted spaces
Hello, I have a problem with the render :partial method in all my rails webapplications. I noticed that using render :partial will generate spaces (mainly top spaces) on the elements inserted. As all my websites are seperated by module (basicaly header, content, menu, footer) it''s quite a problem as I have to set negative margin- top to various parts for the site to display as expected

RoR and DRb
Hi, I have a question regarding RoR and DRb. First of all, I tested with simple client/server examples and everything worked as expected. I have the following lines in my environment.rb: DRb.start_service $rem_obj = DRbObject.new(nil, "druby://#{rname}:9001") Since rem_obj is a global variable, I can call it from any controller and the invoked procedure is run on the server. However,

Xen 4.0.x 3,000 second time skew problem
Hi, I have two installs of Xen 4.0.1 on Debian squeeze dom0s that occasionally skew the time by 3000 seconds. It is always 3000 seconds and it always affects all guests. Depending on the kernels in the guests they will say: tp0 kernel: [9339489.266542] Clocksource tsc unstable (delta = -2999660317697 ns) or perhaps the kernel doesn''t notice but ntpd does: ls0 ntpd[15009]:

Testing RoR
I jumped into RoR @ about 3 AM. I think I''ve got it running, but need a simple sanity check. I''ve been through as many references as possible, but thought that I''d ask the list here for references. This list sort of almost being "live". _______________________________________________ Rails mailing list Rails-1W37MKcQCpIf0INCOvqR/iCwEArCW2h5@public.gmane.org

Apache or lighttp for Ror/2003server?
160,000 pages 99% static, only minor stuff done in rail (search, contact us, etc.) windows server 2003 Ror 1.0 Currently 30K Hits /day on IIS. Apache or Lighttp? Fast_CGI seems kinda slow with a 2003/Apache configuration. The only thing I''ll get rid of for sure is IIS. -Cedric -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

RoR for a Large Scale App?
I''ve seen discussion on this topic in the past, and was wondering what people''s feelings were in regards to the more recent releases? Mainly, could it be possible to build a web application on the scale of, say, Amazon, or deal with similar bandwidth and load requirements as an iTunes would? It may be unfair to expect that much, seeing as these are some of the largest around,

[LLVMdev] JIT : Does it cache the compiled code of executed functions upon runFunction(..)?
Hi Gabi, I have no idea why your performances is not as expected with such low level of informations. But, I know that the binary code is cached by the JIT. You can find the code in JIT.cpp to convince yourself : runFunction -> getPointerToFunction ->getPointerToGlobalIfAvailable which returns the native address of the jitted function. You can even try to measure time needed by each

ROR host: dreamhost or godaddy?
hi all, i am looking for a host for my ROR web app. the target audience will be 70% from mainland china, and 30% from the rest of the world. i dont want a chinese hosst because: 1. it''s very slow for the rest of the world to access to it. 2. the speed is quite ok for china to access the us sites. both dreamhost and godaddy provide similar budget plans, and i saw them all from this

R client connection OLAP cube (SQL Analysis Services / PivotTable Service)
I have been doing data analysis/modeling in R, connecting to SQL databases with RODBC (winXP client with R1.9.0 and win2k SQL server 2000). I am now trying to leverage some of the OLAP features to keep the data intensive tasks on the DB server side and only keep the analytical tasks within R (optimize use of memory). Is there any package that would allow to connect to OLAP cubes (as a client

Xen Cloud questions
I''m using Xen 3.4 on Debian Lenny, and a web interface (still in dev), to have a eye on all the stuff. I saw the Xen Cloud project, but I have some questions about it. Can I summarize Xen Cloud like this : "latest" Xen Hypervisor with "improved" API (OCaml replacing python and more stuff) which enhance informations about all Xen hypervisors in same time, to provide a

[LLVMdev] Calling PassManager on previously JITed Modules
Hi Stephen, I confirm your observation. AFAIK the current JIT keeps informations from the module, for example AssertingHandle on Values. It's part of my plan to make the MCJIT independent from Module stuff to allow reoptimizations, or to have multiple copies of JITed functions for one function in the module, but there is a long road to go. Ruby on rails local groups, everyone?
Hi , Just discover a interesting way to connect ror developers locallly. http://www.citycita.org let groups of people who share same interests to plan events and meet offline in local communities around the world. The service is quite new but it seem to have an ROR Oslo community that use it - http://rubyonrails.citycita.org/22498/. Worth a look ! -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.
