album cover art in .ogg?
I've added ogg support to my player app. Now I'd like to be able to write/read album cover art (jpg, png, what ever) out of the ogg file and display it, as I do with mp3s. This assumes that an album cover art picture can reside inside of an ogg file. I've read through the vorbis.com/faq.psp as well as the list archives and haven't found any direct answers. question about use MP3s with LAME on Icecast

Album art - requirements
Hi, there was a thread a few months ago about album art, and how to embed it in an Ogg stream. The outcome was unconclusive, and kind of settled on the existing practice of adding a uuencoded image in a Vorbis comment, or similar. A better solution would be to embed those images as a separate stream, including hints as to what image represents (front cover, back cover, etc). The obvious

Problem with streaming some mp3s (but not all)
Hi! I would really appreciate if someone could try to help me out with this... i've been struggling with it for quite a while now. :( Anyway, I was trying to use ices to broadcast mp3s with icecast2 (a recent cvs snapshot of all 3 components from brendan's site). I have it working fine for some of my mp3s (encoded with lame -b 32) but with the other mp3s which are actually the ones that

question about use MP3s with LAME on Icecast
Hi. Is it possible (legally) to stream MP3s on Icecast that have been encoded with LAME encoder (http://lame.sourceforge.net/license.txt)? So if a composer writes a track, then saves in MP3 with LAME, and wants to distribute with Icecast server, is it legal? Must he get license for MP3 (http://mp3licensing.com/royalty/emd.html) and pay any royalties for MP3 DISTRIBUTING or STREAMING as it stated

Hi, [ Was away the last few days, so this partly overlaps on things that that have been mentioned in this thread. Since the consensus seems that Vorbis comment encoding is the way to go, it's a bit moot, but here it is anyway ] Following up on the possibility to tag various images as different types of album art, I thought of adding that tagging information in a Skeleton stream. FLAC: player with native support for flac embedded pictures

I think we have to discuss a fundamental question about coverart first: is coverart a header-type content or a time-aligned type content? It was my impression that it is mostly header-type content, i.e. concerns the full file rather than segments of it. Therefore, embedding it into any of the time-aligned streams (Kate, CMML, OggMNG) doesn't make much sense to me. It should be in a header.

no mp3s with ices2!? an other way?
I have mp3s as input and can't convert them all. And since my listeners will ONLY use mp3-streaming I don't want the overhead and quality-loss of converting mp3 to ogg and later stream-transcode them from ogg back to mp3. That's not worth it. So why can't support for mp3 be added to ices2? From a technical point, I mean? Somebody said "It's not and never will

no mp3s with ices2!? an other way?
You "should" be able to use mp3s with ices. But not with ices2-2.x. You have to grab ices-0.2.3 from the snapshots. The earlier versions of ices-0.2.3 containted mp3-support but were not capable of streaming to an icecast2-server (only icecast). The current builds support both features. But from testing myself and from the list I recall there have been some problems: Ices connected

Re-2: streaming MP3s?
I'm using icecast-2.0-alpha-2 and ices-2.0-Beta2. When I put the .mp3 file in my webroot and start laying it via winamp/location/<filename>.mp3 it works fine, just when I try using the playlist via ices I get a 404. -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: [icecast] streaming MP3s?
