Hypertext links in help files.
I've recently (finally!) installed R 1.9.0 on my laptop. Having done so I've encountered a mild problem with hypertext links from help files in add-on packages to ``native'' R functions. For example if I load the ``spatstat'' package, and ask for help on mpl(), I can see in the browser (I'm using mozilla) a link to glm(). When I click on this link I get an error

On the forums
Here's my summary of what might be a consensus: We have two mailing lists (developer and user) We have a forum We will keep both Some prefer the forum, some prefer the listserv Suggestions were maded about using NNTP, IRC, etc., but, I didn't see any support for that. Chestnuts will be copied from the forum into an FAQ as a documentation development technique and for easy access to the

Aggregation using list with Hmisc summarize function
Hi All, I'm using the Hmisc summarize function and used list instead of llist to provide the by variables. It generated an error message. Is this a bug, or do I misunderstand how Hmisc works with lists? The program below demonstrates the error message. Thanks, Bob x<-1:8 group <- c(1,1,1,1,2,2,2,2) gender<- c(1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2) mydata<-data.frame(x,group,gender)

Barplot w/ single stacked bar
Hi All, I can get the barplot function to do many types of plots, stacked or otherwise. However, I cannot get it to do a *single* stacked bar. I've searched several books & listserv archives to no avail. I suspect I'm missing the obvious from the help file! I can reach my goal in ggplot2, although the relative heights of the bar's pieces don't seem quite right (it does

help.start
Dear R experts, I would greatly appreciate your help with R's hypertext online documentation, which I can pass on to our system manager. We are running version 1.7 on sparc-sun-solaris2.9 using netscape7 browser for displaying the help. The system is working, but there are a few frustrating details that I hope might be fixed. Here are three problems we are having: 1. When the R session

opening URL for writing
Dear List, Sharepoint sites are used more and more often by researchers as a platform to share all the information in a joint research project. Typically, they can be accessed only by a Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) URL. We are investigating whether it is possible to read and write data to Microsoft Sharepoint sites using R. We have managed to open a read-only connection to read

Images and Alt Tags Acheiving Better Search Engine Ranking
Many years ago, my sister asked me to look at the Google <a href="http://images.google.com/">Images search</a> . When I first saw the page, I thought Google was offering a place for freebie photos before I realized that it was probably searching for and finding the "alt tag" text written in the HTML for website images. "Alt tags" or "alt text"
