Is Phusion Passenger (mod_rails) good for single app servers
There is a lot of hype over mod_rails, but from my understanding it is
more geared for servers with a number of apps on it. The reason it
seems that way is how it frees up the memory if an app is stagnant for
an extended period. The freeing up of the memory may not be an issue if
the application gets a continuous traffic flow.

Windows new installation - Always problems
I would like to know if there is a way to ''package'' an application
with all the associated gems and ship it to a new server and having it
to "just work" in a Windows environment.
Although I have never done it I know that Rails can be frozen into the
application. I am wondering if I can do the same thing with other
gems. I have found this

Crashing after Update
Hello All!
I''ve been running Rails 2.0.2 with Ruby 1.8.6 for the last six
months. I developed an application that runs fine on two different
servers -- or at least, it used to.
I used Mongrel as a development server, but requirements called for
using Apache for a production deployment. I found Phusion Passenger
(mod_rails) and decided to give it a try.
I decided to update my rubygems

Mongrel Memory Usage
All,
I''m trying to figure out the best way to estimate the amount of memory
usage that will be taken up by Mongrel and I''m hoping that you have
some estimates that can help me.
I''m currently estimating the following:
Memory Required = Number of running puppetmasters * size of manifests
* number of clients managed
The mongrel model doesn''t seem to *ever*

LiteSpeed
Yo Zed,
Just curious -- what do you think of the LiteSpeed
server? Is it better than Lighty? Does it (gasp!) also
serve Rails apps like Mongrel? I think I read that
LiteSpeed doesn''t have proxying support.
Thanks,
Joe

Ui Designing with Rails opposed to PHP
Why are there more web design users using PHP instead of using Rails? Is
there an advantage using PHP over Rails?
Thanks

When to add mongrel clusters
I am running a website right now on one mongrel. Things are going well
at present, but of course I expect the site to grow and need to know
when, how, and perhaps IF i need to add mongrel clusters. Isn''t adding
mongrel clusters the way to scale a RoR website? Is there another way
that I don''t know about?

CentOS 7 and Glassfish 2.1.1
Hello.
I have a server with CentOS 7 installed, on this server I installed Java
1.7 (java version "1.7.0_80") and Glassfish 2.1.1. The last few days
I've ran into a problem: Glassfish process got killed twice and I don't
have a clue why is getting terminated, I know that sometimes processes
get killed if RAM is not enough; however on this server I have 62GB of
RAM and 10GB

Glassfish custom provider and 'file does not exist'
Hi there,
I''m trying to setup Glassfish config management using puppet.
I''ve found larstobi''s module here
<https://github.com/larstobi/puppet-glassfish/>which I''ve cloned and am
starting to tweak, as it would appear that the mentioned module is based on
Solaris, therefore I''m starting to add support for EL. My code tree is

Order Issues -- Missing require?
Good Evening!
I''m having issues with the order in which items are ran inside of a service
class, it''s attempting to run before the provider is present (the provider
is provided by the glassfish package). It looks for the glassfish provider
prior to inheriting the repository or the package list.

Is anyone managing Glassfish configuration with puppet?
Has anyone found a clean way to manage Glassfish configuration with puppet?
Glassfish was designed to be managed through a WebUI or a CLI tool known as
asadmin. Making changes using these tools modifies a domain.xml file.
Glassfish reads and writes this file every time it restarts, even if the
contents are the same, which changes the timestamp. I believe this can be
addressed by setting puppet

creating virtual hosts with Mongrel?
Does anyone know how to use Mongrel to create virtual hosts? My
production site will have all kinds of domains pointing to it, and I
also need to figure out how to do subdomains. Rails should react to
the host name, doing a lookup based on the name and pull different
records from the database based on this.
For example, I''d like www.mysite.com to point back to 127.0.0.1:3000,

Glassfish asadmin provider
Hi,
I am making a resource type to manage Glassfish domains. I''m not quite
sure how to specify provider commands with a sane default and in
configurable way. The location of the binary may be in other locations
depending on where Glassfish was installed.
