Session management with SOAP and AWS
I''m working on a rails app where I''d like to have a session-based SOAP API. That is, I''d like to connect via SSL and have a ''login'' method followed by one or more other methods. I''m using the ActionWebService::Client::Soap class to connect to my app, but each method invocation results in a new session on the server (WEBrick, at the

Calling SOAP based Web Services over SSL

How to consume XMLRPC/SOAP web services in Rails?
Hi, does anybody know of any good HowTo for consuming XML-RPC and/or SOAP web services in Rails? I found some for Ruby (via soap4r/xmlrpc4r), but I was wondering whether there is something built into Rails already. So far it looks like there are methods to create web services, but not to consume them. Ingo Weiss

ActionWebService: associations unavailable in SOAP response
I have create a web service to expose data from my application and am wondering why the associations are not showing up as values in my WSDL or SOAP response. In active record I have enabled eager loading so that the object set as the return type for the service call has all the associated data prior to the response. However, the associations are not showing up. Anyone have any ideas? I can

accessing a SOAP based web service from R
Hi, I have a number of web services that run on a server and can be accessed via SOAP as well as by creating a specific URL. Now, for certain services, the argument that I need to send is about 10 to 20 characters and the URL approach works fine. However if the argument is a few kilobytes I would rather create a SOAP packet and send that off. So my first question is: is there a package that

SOAP Web Service Exception
I am working on building a prototype for a Rails Web Service that will be used potentially by non-ruby/rails languages. When testing using the *invoke* scaffold I have no problem getting the correct result, however when using a 3rd party PHP client I get a *NoMethodError (undefined method `collect'' for #<SOAP::SOAPNil:0x24ea1bc>):* exception from the rails Webrick web server.

SOAP client not seeing all of my AWS service methods
Hi all, Ruby 1.8.4 Rails 1.1.2 I''m a newb when it comes to SOAP, but I thought I''d give it a shot. I have several web services defined. However, when I try to connect with a SOAP client it seems the client is only picking up one of the services, called Hardware. require ''soap/wsdlDriver'' wsdl_url =

Connecting to XML/SOAP feed that requires pkcs12 certificate for client authentication
All, I''m stumped. I need to connect to an XML/SOAP feed... that''s normally not an issue. But this one has a hoop that threw me for a loop. Some corporate security geek implented it such that a client certificate (pkcs12) is required to validate my identity before their system will talk to me. The remote system is, of course, running J2EE w/ EJB inside their firewall. But

Web service SOAP URLs started failing with 1.1.4 or using 1.1.2 security patch
Railers, I''m trying to figure out why invocations to my Web service URLs work with Rails 1.1.2 but fail both with Rails 1.1.4 (and 1.1.5) and when I apply the new 1.1.2 security patch to Rails 1.1.2. It looks like they are failing with SOAP clients but succeeding with XML-RPC clients. The URL that used to work is of the form http://localhost:3000/my_controller/ServiceName/api. When I

Rails as SOAP client with .NET web service
Hi For an application we need to obtain data from a .NET based web service. I''ve been "playing" with some sample code to invoke web services as a soap client. They work ok with services that offer a .wsdl link. However, .NET based services are called with "*.asmx?WSDL". The wsdlDriver (I guess SOAP4R) barfs on this. Anybody have practical experience and willing/able

AWS, SOAP, and Exceptions
Can someone shed some light on how to convert an Exception to a SOAPFault on Rails 1.0/AWS 1.0? I''ve been digging through the source code and see that in soap_protocol.rb there is a method called encode_response() that seems to perform the translation of an Exception to a SOAPFault. However, if I use the following code block within my Web Service controller: def

return values in SOAP with Action Web Service
I''m working with ActionWebService, building a SOAP Service. I realize that I can returns various values, in example: api_method :foo, :expects [ { :value1 => :int }, { :value2 => :int } ], :returns [ { :return_value_1 => :int}, { :return_value_2 => :string}, { :return_value_3 =>

AWS vs REST and XML-RPC
Ok so DHH in the release post for Rails 2 talked about how there was clearly a side taken in the SOAP vs REST debate, and REST had one. So what does that mean if one is wanting to create a small blogging engine with Rails 2, and want''s to use an external blogging application to connect with it? Before it looked as if the Blogger API and MetaWeblog API were two ways of going

SOAP responses blowing up memory usage
Hi, in our application we have a ActionWebController method that iterates over a bunch of AR objects (say ~30,000) and converts them to struts. The controller method automagically converts the array of Struts to SOAP objects as advertised. There''s a point in ActionWebService::Dispatcher::ActionController::InstanceMethods#dispatch _web_service_request (file

Soap - how to read an array..?
Hiya, I''m currently setting up a soap client in ruby that is working fine with passing ints or strings, but I cannot pass arrays. Is this a soap problem or is there a special code thing you have to do to take in an array from a soap call? Thanks, Bex -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

SOAP + HTTP authentication
Hey, Just had a question. Been pulling out my hair all weekend trying to get SOAP to work properly in Rails and even straight on Ruby. I started with Rails'' AWS and moved to Ruby''s internal libraries, after which I tried out SOAP4R. Now, my question is, does Rails or even Ruby itself support SOAP client calls through basic HTTP Authentication? From the research I''ve

Qualified parameters in SOAP body using .SOAP
Hello, I am trying to reach a web service using the SOAP package. I succeeded calling the web service, but not sending parameters to it. After much research and tries, I think I found that the problem lies in the namespace including the parameters in the SOAP body. In short, my question is: how can I send unqualified parameters in the SOAP body of a call produced through the SOAP package?
