Switching to active_record_store session management errors out
Hello,
Running Ruby 1.8.6 and Rails 2.2.2 against an Oracle XE database
(sigh).
I just upgraded Rails from 1.2.3 to 2.2.2, which made my cookie based
system for storing session information to error out due to the 4Kb
limit. So, I tried to turn on the active_record_store system by un-
commenting out the "config.action_controller.session_store
= :active_record_store" line in

Switching to ActiveRecord Session Store
I''m having a problem switching from cookie sessions (the default) to
active record sessions.
I''ve created the sessions table via the rake task, uncommented the
line
config.action_controller.session_store = :active_record_store
in my environment.rb file, cleared out my browsers cookies, restarted
the server (natch), but still the it''s using cookie_store instead of

RoR problems with Created_At and PostgreSQL
So, I wrote some pages which essentially created some articles which are
saved to a database, which also include both the "magic" rows
''created_at'' and ''updated_at''.
Now, on my development machine I''m running the MySQL-database and
everything worked as I wanted it to. On the live server I''ve had to
switch to PostgreSQL 8.1 due to

created_at, updated_at and MSSQL
Hello,
I am running into a little issue. There is a considerable time
difference between the time that the console is giving me and the time
I am seeing in the created_at and updated_at column in the DB. The
difference is about 5 hours.
I don''t think the problem is in the DB, but I could be wrong.
Am I missing something obvious? Any clues?

Hi,
I just switched from storing my sessions on disk to storing them in
MySQL. Changing environment.rb ''config.action_controller.session_store =

How to write your own created_at/updated_at?
I''m using Pfeed(http://github.com/parolkar/pfeed) plugin for User
Activity Feeds.
It creates PfeedItem model records and uses created_at field for a lot
of stuff inside.
Now I need to export/import those user logs. I do exporting to YAML.
When I reconstruct PfeedItem AR object from YAML, it have real(old)
creation time in created_at attribute. When I save this PfeedItem -

how to list all sessions?
I have created ActiveRecord session store in a rails 3 project:
> rake db:sessions:create
> rake db:migrate
then
Myapp::Application.config.session_store :active_record_store, :key =>
''_myapp_session''
in initializers/session_store.rb and it all works.
Now the question: how do I list ALL active sessions?

Create Two objects at the same time
I have user model and referral model. Referral model has user_id as
field.
Now when a new user is created, I need to call referral#create as well
and pass it the id of the newly generated user to user_id of referral
model. How can I do that.

has_one/belongs_to -- accessing the subordinate
With a has_one/belongs_to relationship, what''s the best way to guarantee
that the belongs_to object gets created and is accessible alongside the
has_one object? I *think* the after_create callback is a good choice,
but I discovered an oddity while trying it.

Can not create model instance via params on specific model but can on others....
Anyone have an idea on this? Got a weird situation where on a specific model
I can not create an instance using params, yet it works fine on other
models. The model which does not work is a stock model, there is no logic in
it. Ruby 1.8.7/Rails 3.0.5.

Is anyone running Rails 2.x against a MS SQL Server DB?
I am unable to get ActiveRecord session support to work under 2.x
against a SQL Server database. I''m starting to wonder if anyone is
running 2.x against SQL Server?
Is anyone running under the following configuration:
Rails 2.x
SQL Server 2000 DB (using AR adapter in ODBC mode)
AR store for ActionController session store.
I''d like to chat with you if you are.
Thanks,

Testing equality

How can I test equality with two objects when they include some
attribute that is BigDecimal?
if I make something like this:
it "should ...whatever" do

MyObject.first.should == obj
end.
FAILS
This fails because the object expected is different from the object
gotten, and the only difference are the BigDecimal attributes, that are
