ClockingIT Beta - It''s about time...
My wife and I have been working on our own task-listing, time-tracking
web application, and we''re really interested in some feedback as we
ourselves feel we''ve come a long way.
If you have some minutes to kill (or just want to see how the Comet
functionality provided by the Juggernaut plugin can work) have a look at

Mongrel, .htaccess, cpanel, rewrite, Mongrel::HttpParserError
I just installed my RoR application on my ISP''s server.
This is a Cpanel environment and it creates a .htaccess file:
RewriteEngine on

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.xyz.com$
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ "http\:\/\/127\.0\.0\.1\:12001\/$1" [P,L]

ClockingIT closing in on v1.0
Hepp!
------
It''s been a while since the last ClockingIT - http://www.clockingit.com -
release, but the new version has finally been deployed, with quite a few
improvements. ClockingIT is now much better at handling a large number
of tasks and issues, and it''s a lot easier to see what you should work
on next.
I''ve also implemented a new look, designed by the missis,

ClockingIT v0.99.2 released
It''s been a while since I last announced something about ClockingIT to

due to limited bandwidth. But, now that I''ve gotten proper hosting with
a great

to work...
All gems are in place, MySQL etc.
However - I am stuck on this error form Mongrel:

am hoping I can speed it up by using fast cgi. I am having not able to
install the fcgi gem. Below is the error I get when I try. Any help on
this subject would be much appreciated.

HTTP parse error due to an extra percent sign
If you append an extra percent sign to a URL that gets passed to
mongrel, it will return a Bad Request error. Kind of odd that
"http://localhost/%" causes a "Bad Request" instead of a "Not Found"
error.
Here is the error from the mongrel log:
HTTP parse error, malformed request (127.0.0.1):

Help with Apache config
I have been attempting for days to configure Apache for Rails. I have
read forums, followed How-To''s all in vain. I am hoping someone can help
me out. I am getting the Rails Welcome screen, but when trying to go to
any other url, I get the 500.html message. Take a look for yourself at

I have been trying to install Rmagick on ubuntu karmic koala for a

Image::Magick).
The following is what the execution looks like when I tried to

Handling closed clients
We have a service that clients use to upload files. We have a couple of clients that are on slow links and so their upload times out. We get errors in the logs that I''d like to get rid of.
I was hoping that the recent commit 24b9f66dcdda44378b4053645333ce9ce336b413 would help us, but it does not. After digging in a bit, I have some ideas about why and a patch I''d like comments

Mongrel can''t handle some URLs that IE6 sends
IE6 happily sends unsafe* characters unencoded if you''ve typed them
into the URL bar of your IE6 window. This could happen if you copy &
paste a URL from an email or web page.
Mongrel doesn''t seem to handle these properly. In 0.3.13.3 it would
print out something like:
Sun Oct 15 23:05:38 CST 2006: BAD CLIENT (192.168.1.2): Invalid
HTTP format, parsing fails.

Apache22+mod_proxy+mongrel+ssl
I am trying to move a Rails application, that uses SSL, from an
Apache/FastCGI stack, that works fine, to Apache22 and mongrel
working with a single mongrel instance (i.e., not mongrel cluster, yet.)
I have a single mongrel instance demonized and working fine on http,
on port 3000. Apache/OpenSSL/certs working fine.
Here is my test http.conf (deliberately kept as simple as possible):

I''ve just released Juggernaut - a plugin for ruby on rails.
Check out the site: http://juggernaut.rubyforge.org
I?ve also finished a demo that illustrates some of Juggernuat?s

Juggernaut question
Hi all, I''ve recently downloaded the juggernaut plugin and I was
wondering if I could get some advice from anyone who''s used this on a
real site. I have it working just fine on my local version, but on my
live server it doesn''t seem to be working. It sends the information to
the server just fine, but the text doesn''t get inserted. So I have a

Juggernaut Rails 3
Are there any plans to update the Juggernaut gem to be compatible with
Rails 3? It doesn''t seem to work as of now with Rails 3, unless I set up
the whole thing wrong. Also are there any good working alternatives for
a push server?

C''t Article on Juggernaut
There is a recent article in the German magazine C''t that may be of
interest to those on this list. It describes a cracker program,
Juggernaut, which can hijack telnet sessions. The program is written
specifically to run under Linux. An english translation of the article
is available at:

It also mentions that they are working on a version of the

TCPSocket.new(host,port).readline hangs on windows :(
Hi Guys
I am starting a new thread as it seems my gripe isnt to do with
Juggernaut but with TCPSocket - which is used by Juggernaut.
Turns out that the thing that actually hangs up in Juggernaut after x
(130/1500/16000) iterations of
(1..1000).each {|i| Juggernaut.show_clients}
Is actually the line
res << @socket.readline(CR) if response
in juggernaut.rb.
Seems @socket.readline
