imq and htb are used to control traffic.
When I create a bridge with the bridge-utils, I get a

device, but I can not use iptables to mark packets.

HTB as a child of another HTB - doesn''t work
Hi,
I am new to HTB and in the learning process I want to simulate a slower
link on my server to see how qdisc works.
I have a 100Mbit connection.
I want to simulate a 100K connection and to divide traffic between FTP
and SMB. (like in HTB user guide).
The problem is that it doesn’t work. I can transfer files with FTP of
SAMBA at the wire speed. (Just like when there was no HTB and qdisc).

[htb] strange problems !?
hi,
I have strange problems with HTB and several hundred classes flat structure i.e.

Ceil is the same as rate. The machine get no more than 2-3% average cpu(2.4Ghz pentium).
What happens is that from time to time the traffic got "stalled".

packet shaping bridge
Hi all,
I''m new to using iproute2 for traffic shaping but not new to Linux.
Essentially I have a WAN between two cities that I stream audio over for
rebroadcast. Since it''s all done live stability and prioritization is
critical in staying on air for our radio broadcasts.
My WAN is 1.5Mbit PVC within my provider''s infrastructure so I have an

Prio class HTB
Hello everyone,
We are working on HTB with TC and would like some clarifications from
your part.
Our example is as follows. We have one HTB root class and two HTB
classes attached to it, as in this figure :

imq config
Dear all,
I know this is not imq mailing list. But many of the users over here
have done exactly what i want.
Requirement:- I want to tight bound eth1 for 100 kbps
but after i want to create many classes of 64 kbps or 50 kbps and
others. But the total sum of classes is more than 100 kbps so my eth1 is
not restrciting total bandwidth at 100kbps.
According to search on google imq is the solution.

HTB and tc filter
Help me ...
I try use the tc filter, but seems he doesn''t work, I already
reconfigured my kernel ( 2.4.32 ) with all options related a QOS

HTB does not respect the prio parameter
Hi all,
I''m experimenting with HTB and the prio parameter and it does not give me results I
expect. I''ve created 4 HTB classes:
1:10 TCP ACKs (prio 0)
1:20 TCP traffic on dst port 10001 (prio 1)
1:30 TCP traffic on dst port 10000 (prio 2)
1:40 Default (prio 3)
ceil and rate parameters are the same for all 4 classes (rate is

PRIO inside HTB - trouble attaching filters correctly?
Hello everyone!
I''m simply trying to put a PRIO inside an HTB (used to throttle). I''ve got
interactive traffic on the network that I want to give priority (VoIP +
Citrix + Video).
I''ve used the filters in a CBQ script fine, but am having trouble
adjusting them to this setup such that they properly assign the traffic.
tc qdisc del root dev $e
tc qdisc add dev $e

htb limiting trouble: no overlimit or dropped packets
Hi!
I''m trying to limit the uplink bandwidth using htb but no packets are
overlimit or dropped. :-(
My router config:
* Linux kernel 2.4.20-pre10 (htb v3.7) with everything built as
modules in QoS, iptables in use.
* tc binary from htb3.6-020525.tgz
* external interface eth0: Internet access, 512 kbit/s uplink speed
* internal interface eth1: internal LAN, 100 Mbit/s

Can i attach another qdisc under classes or root qdisc?
now, i''m learning and try to read a lot of article about tc command in linux for setting traffic shaper.
but i''m doubt about
In the theory about tc command ... In general, we define class under root qdisc
but Is it can be possible ???? If we define another qdisc under root qdisc, Can i do it?
because i have just read tc command syntax and i found this point ...

HTB - prio and rate
Hi all,
I''ve not been able to find an explanation of the relationship between
prio and rate as they apply to the HTB technique. Hopefully someone on
here will be able to help me.
As I understand things, when prio values are assigned to an HTB setup,
classes with a given prio value will only be serviced when there are no
packets waiting in classes with a lower prio value.
Now, does
