trying to prioritize voip traffick
I am using a server with asterisk and I am trying to prioritize voip traffick -- I am a newbie at this traffic shaping, so please bear with me. I used the script below and what happens is thatall traffic in the bulk class stops after a couple of minutes. Also, should I include the ports for rtp in the filter statements with the ports 5061 and 4569? Note I have a fairly big pipe -- supposed to

Prioritizing UDP Packets?
Greetings, I''m new to LARTC and I''m trying to solve a problem with multiple clients accessing a game server. So I thought I''d give traffic control a shot. I''ve downloaded Wonder Shaper and have added this to the default script: tc filter add dev $DEV parent 1:0 protocol ip prio 12 u32 \ match ip protocol 0x6 0xff flowid 1:3 I''m now quite sure

prioritizing aggregated DBs
Hey all, I've been using ->add_database for a few years to tie sharded DBs together and it works great. Now, I want to be able to search across several DBs which aren't sharded, say: linux-DB, glibc-DB, freebsd-DB. I want to search for something across all of them, but prioritize results to favor one or some of those DBs over others. Is there a way to do that without reindexing? Or

QoS on a bridge+NAT
I have a setup where I have three NIC in a Debian box. I have eth1 conected to internet and eth0 NAT''ed to 192.168.1.1. eth1 and eth2 are bridged together, given ip 192.168.122.2. What I want to achieve is to perform traffic shaping on the bridge as well as prioritizing the traffic from eth0 very low. (This is from trental flat ...) However it seems that I am unable to perform thhe

QoS and IPSec...
Hi, I have what to me is an interesting issue. I am wanting to prioritize (QoS) traffic that will be passing through an IPSec (OpenS/WAN) VPN between two (identical) Linux routers. I know that I can apply the IPSec patches (1-4) to the kernel and IPTables (if they are not already applied by now) filter traffic before and after IPSec encapsulation. My problem is that I don''t know

Prioritizing VOIP traffic without sacrificing throughput
Hi, I would like to prioritize VOIP traffic when we use the phone, but other times not do traffic shaping at all. Right now I have my openwrt router set up with htb to do shaping. In order to get it to work well I had to set my upload and download speeds much lower than my line speed. With these settings, I get good VOIP reception even while surfing the net and doing a long download. However,

cbq.init for one port on a subnet
Sub:[LARTC] cbq init for one port on a subnet Hello, We use cbq.init to limit bandwidth. It works great on a per-user basis. Now I''d like to limit traffic from a netblock to the Internet on port 6699. Network is 192.168.0.160 mask 255.255.255.224 eth0 is the gateway eth1 connects the netblock in question Is this the proper syntax; DEVICE=eth0,10Mbit,1Mbit RATE=100Kbit

HTB rates aren''t enforced correctly
Hi! I recently changed my qdisc from CBQ and PRIO to only HTB, and I can''t really seem to get the rates to work as I want them to. I have eight classes, which I set up as follows: tc qdisc add dev eth1 root handle 1: htb default 122 tc class add dev eth1 parent 1: classid 1:1 htb rate 1000kbit ceil 1000kbit cburst 1500 burst 50kb tc class add dev eth1 parent 1:1 classid 1:11 htb prio 0

cbq vs htb?
Hello, Does anyone know when one should use cbq versus (simpler more accurate) htb? Specifically does cbq have added functionality that may be of interest to certain applications? from htb home> Both CBQ and HTB help you to control the use of the outbound bandwidth on a given link. Both allow you to use one physical link to simulate several slower links and to send different kinds of

Prioritizing traffic
I don''t know whether this is the right place to ask, but kindly point me to an FM that I can R if it isn''t. My wife is creating lots of Kazaa traffic, and I am using rsync to create a full mirror of Red Hat''s FTP site, Aurora Linux FTP site, the LDP site, and some other stuff. Clearly, when one is moving well over 100GB over a 128 Kbps link, this is going to take a
