"gold": a script to ease git based team work
Hi list ! I created a script to ease workflow on zena, a rails CMS (http://zenadmin.org). The workflow involves developers and reviewers (can be the same people): 1. each developer has his own fork (on github or another git server) 2. he creates a branch per feature 3. a reviewer looks at the code before .. 4. ... pushing changes to the "golden master" All of this with automatic

Updatable "datagrid" with ajax support? Is there any code/approach I can leverage?
Hi, I want to have a page in my Ruby on Rails application that is like a dynamic / updateable data grid. Like a matrix or spreadsheet segment (x rows, y columns) which one can click in any of the cells and make an update, which triggers some AJAX code to fire off the update, and then the responses come back and update whatever else needs updating based on this change. Is there a prototype

Combining rails intrAnet and public site.
Hello, everyone! I was wondering if somebody has some insight on this issue. [h]A little background:[/h] I work for a midsize electronic manufacturing company with 2 people in IT dept - a network admin and a developer (me). We''ve been using rails to migrate from an old dBase and VB based system to build internal company IntrAnet that does things like label printing, invetory control,

querybuilder 0.5.0 Released
querybuilder version 0.5.0 has been released (yet another gem extracted from zena) ! * <http://github.com/zena/querybuilder/tree/master> QueryBuilder is an interpreter for the "pseudo sql" language. This language can be used for two purposes: 1. protect your database from illegal SQL by securing queries 2. ease writing complex relational queries by abstracting table internals

Insufficient sshd debug output
Apologies if this issue has already been addressed. But it isn't plain, even using sshd -d -d -d, why function allowed_user would return 0. In my case, an old version of login was ignoring the expiry-date field of /etc/shadow, but sshd was refusing access. There are several reasons why access might be refused, and it shouldn't be necessary to modify auth.c to print out the info - it

odbcConnectExcel2007
Hi sorry if this is really basic but I am just starting on R. Can anyone point me at how to write R objects into Excel 2007 files. I have seen how to set up a connection to a file through odbcConnectExcel2007(xls.file, readOnly = FALSE, ...) but it doesn't say anything on how to write data Thanks _____________________________________________________________________ The

Zena 1.1.0 + dreamhost
Hi there ! If you want to test Zena between to rounds of beach volley, wave jumping, ice climbing or whatever you do when not sitting in front of a screen, I fixed many annoying bugs in the 1.0 release and created a brick to ease deployment on shared hosting. There is even a small manual to deploy on dreamhost: http://bit.ly/oqoZ5i Have fun

CSS live edit with ajax (part of Zena)
I posted a snippet (http://textsnippets.com/posts/show/857) on how to use AJAX to edit your CSS without having to reload pages. It''s fast and makes my life a lot easier... Gaspard PS: This trick is used to build ''Zena'', a rails based CMS which will go open source during this winter. -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

directory mask = 2770
Hello everyone. I am using Samba 2.0.7 on a RedHat 6.2 machine. I wanted to apply a directory mask of 2770 to everything created in a share. The root directory of this share already has these permissions. I want to have it so that everything created in a certain directory has the permissions of the group of the creator. As it stands, I do have the directory mask = 2770 line in the smb.conf

samba + kerberos + active directory with multiple domains
I've almost got this thing working. I have it set up on a centos machine to authenticate logins and automounts to windows file servers. But it won't allow me to specify a domain as part of the userid. I can set a default domain in smb.conf and logging into that domain works like a champ. And I can list the other domains with "wbinfo --online-status" (not sure what

Close to a 4.2 release; experimenting with Ragel alternatives
Hi Jason ! Hmmm, this is good and bad news: Good: ruby hooks means I could use a single pass to parse textile customizations in zena instead of running two parsers: nice. Bad: I have just switched to ragel for QueryBuilder to parse pseudo sql and I fear your shortcomings (if that''s an english phrase). Could you describe more precisely what you are missing with ragel ? I''m

NetworkWorld article on Open Source Telephony
An interesting article for those needing ammunition to sell Asterisk within their organisation or to others: "Is open source IP telephony ready for prime time? Yes" by Zenas Hutcheson, St. Paul Venture Capital Network World, 06/07/04 http://www.nwfusion.com/columnists/2004/0607faceoffyes.html On a related note, they also have an article arguing the contrary position (see link within
