Action caching with multiple domains
I have recently setup some action caching in my Rails app and everything seems to be working fine. I am using file store pointing at /tmp/cache. The problem I am running into is that separate cache directories are being created for different domain names that point at the same server. For example mysite.com and www.mysite.com will have different cache directories. It seems like it should be easy

Rails controller problems
1. Users_Controller CRUD expects param[:id] to create User instance. With Orders_Controller, I'd like to retrieve a list of users who have ordered. I know Orders_Controller expects param[:id] to be for creating Order instance. So does this mean if I want to retrieve a list of users who have ordered, I should create a method called 'get_orders' in Users_Controller? 2. Can

routing
Hi all, My site uses subdomains to define an item. Eg http://itemname.mysite.com I fetch the itemname and render the appropriate site from that itemname. The subdomain is used everywhere (eg http://itemname.mysite.com/events, http://itemname.mysite.com/products/show/11, ...) I now want to give the user the possibilty to use a ''real'' domain like www.itemname.com that should

Help with Access Control
Hi, I am following the excellent tutorial http://www.railsforum.com/viewtopic.php?id=14216 (post 5) on how to implement an access control feature i.e. only a friend is allowed to view a profile of a particular member. I am not using the restful authentication plugin as the author is using to implement the authentication feature (post 1) in the tutorial. All I am interested in is the post 5

Redirections, Duplicate Content & Permalinks
Hi, Recently I''ve looked at trying to get a permalink system up to increase my site''s ranking in google (and to have nice looking URLs); however I''ve been very worried about google and duplicate content. Getting Started with Site Redesign and RoR
Hello all: I am in the process of redesigning my site and was thinking about incorporating RoR into the overall structure. However, there are multiple things I would like to create with Rails, namely a gallery, a weblog, and portfolio management system. Given that I am going to be using a lot of RoR, what is the best way to accomplish this task? Here are some random things that have come

I haven''t had a chance to get the mongrel with this behavior into USR1 debug mode yet. I wrote a little loop below that will catch it next time. This

Strange 500 Error with namespace::controller#action appearing in reload only
The portion of the log linked below is two requests directly out of the log file for the same action. The first request was from me putting the address in the browser directly (but can be duplicated by linking to the url anywhere in the app). When I reload the browser on this url, I get a strange error. To the user, the action appears to load fine, but I''m getting a 500 error in the log
