WebServices and DateTime - 3 elements of civil date are necessary
I simply trying to receive an array of objects, retrieved by
ActiveRecord from table with datetime column and I have:
test_list(SoapControllerApiTest):
ArgumentError: 3 elements of civil date are necessary

DateTimes get converted to Dates in XML-RPC????
Hi all -
I have written an XML-RPC app using action-web-service. Mostly works
well. Except I just noticed that my :datetime types are coming back as
:date types.
That is, when in the console I query the record via Foo.find_by_id(123) I
get back actual datetimes. If I then do it via XML-RPC, fetching that
same record I get back dates (ie. hour/minute/second are set to 00:00:00)
Any ideas?

Timezone support?
This is a follow-up to the thread ending with:
http://rubyforge.org/pipermail/vpim-talk/2008/000120.html
I too am in search of some ruby parser for icalendar which properly handles
timezones on the datetimes in the icalendar RFC.
As I understand it there are actually three types of times.
1) UTC times with a string form of yyyymmddThhmmssZ
note the trailing Z indicates zulu time aka utc.

Inserting datetime value into SQL Server
I have a SQL Server column named StartTime of (SQL Server) type datetime
If I attempt to set the attribute using
public
def StartTime=(time)
write_attribute(:StartTime, "{ts ''1899-12-30
#{time.hour}:#{time.min}:#{time.sec}''}")
end
it''s inserting a NULL value.
Anyone else able to successfully insert a date time value into a SQL

ArgumentError in StoreController#add_to_cart: wrong number of arguments (1 for 0)
I am really new to Ruby and Rails but as you probably see I am trying
to get the shopping card working from the book. I am getting this
error but I really don''t know what to do. I have looked up several of
topics that stated the same problem but as far as I am, nothing has
helped me out yet. Is there something wrong with the Product model?
This is in the StoreController and I believe it

mysql Date field not getting set correctly
I created a simple test to try and pinpoint my problem but nothing seems
clear to me.
I created a Thing model with fields { id (INT), date (DATE) }
now when I try to create a new "thing" the date does not get stored, and
no errors are reported.
@myNewThing = Thing.new(:date => "2006-08-07")
@myNewThing.save
this results in a new record with a date of

Problem with date_select after Rails 2.1 upgrade
Folks,
I think I should start a new thread for this, because a similar one I
saw is a bit old and the resolution there doesn''t seem to apply to
what I''m running into now.
Anyway, my date_select calls are bombing on me with the exception:

ActiveRecord::StatementInvalid (invalid date) with Oracle
Hello all. I am a novice Ruby on Rails programmer, starting my first
project using a legacy Oracle 10 database. Using ''reverse_scaffold'' I
have created the models/controllers/views for my existing Oracle
tables.
All seems to work well, using /model/index, /model/show for most of my
tables, *except* when one of the tables contains a Oracle ''date''
column, for

datetime_select, is creating an instance of the Time class
Hello
It seems that datetime_select, is creating an instance of the Time
class. Why would that be?
I found this while building a site where people can create vigils
(prayer vigils, peace vigils, etc). When I added a validation method
that compared start_date to created_at, it generated the error:
ArgumentError (comparison of Time with DateTime failed):
I was able to put a breakpoint in the

getting the timezone name from an abbreviation
HI,
I am creating n onlinecalendar sort of functionality for which the
user input for events is taken. To make it user friendly, its left to
the user to write the time down rather than selecting it from a
datetime field in a form
.
The user can also specify a timezone. And while doing so its obvious
that most inputs will be an abbreviation.
My question is - is there a way to convert

DateTime format YYYY-MM-DDTHH:MM:SSZ ????
Hi all -
Implementing my first web service with rails and trying things out using
the "/controller/invoke" interface. Mostly works fine.
But I have a function that takes a datetime and returns all rows that are
newer than that. According to the log the SQL it''s generating is this:
SELECT * FROM xxxx WHERE (created_at >= ''2006-04-25T13:18:31Z'')
I have

Is DateTime and Time interchangeable?

retrieve that column using ActiveRecord, it returns an object of class
Time instead of DateTime. Does Rails convert treat datetime and time
as if they''re the same?
