I am getting a rake aborted error and I suspect that I am missing a
package on my system since the app works for a friend on this
computer.
Here is the terminal output of the error:

Three submits, one controller
I have a ''new'' page with a submit for creating stories. On the ''show''
page the submit allows a user to enter comments. I now want a ''edit''
page for the stories with another submit for updates. I have used the

Deploying in subdir w/ Apache and Mongrel
Hi all,
I have been searching for the past 2 or 3 days on how to deploy my
rails apps within subdirectories (ie: http://www.domain.com/myapp or
even domain.com/rails/myapp) and have found a few tutorials, but all
have left something out it seems. I would like to do this rather than
http://myapp.domain.com/ since it will be usd internally and I have no
real direct access to dns to make the

undefined method `stories_path'
Hi,
I recieve error "undefined method `stories_path'' for
#<ActionView::Base:0x995b4ac>" when going to the view via
site.com/stories/new
The model is setup correctly, I can retrieve data from the db fine. I
think it might be related to the helper but I have no idea where to
start. It seems to think its failing on the first line of the view, i

I''m running Ruby 1.8.7, Rails 2.3.2, and Gem 1.3.4
I''m a newb, so bare with me... I''m reading Simply Rails 2. The book

However, when I type in that last bit, I get:

Scaffold a Plural table w/ No Pluralization in environment
Hi guys,
I have a situation here. I have my project set to no pluralization due
to legacy tables in environment.rb. Now, I have some new tables which
I''m starting to pluralize. When I do a generate a scaffold to this new
table:
script/generate scaffold my_tables table
it seems to work out fine for certain sections like
http://mysite.com/railsapp/new (which also inserts properly to

scaffold suddenly pluralizing names
I haven''t updated rails today and all of a sudden scaffold is
pluralizing my names
ruby script/generate scaffold Admin::Category
produces
class Admin::CategoriesController < ApplicationController
Do I really want "CategoriesController" instead of "CategoryController"?
Thanks,

scaffold generator, pluralization and tutorials
Hi
All the tutorials call their controllers ''TodoController''[1] or
''RecipeController''[2] (singular),
but "script/generate scaffold Recipe" for example generates
a ''RecipesController'' (in recipes_controller.rb)
As I''m rather new to RoR I don''t know if that convention changed,
I read something about it here:

IRB error message (dyld: NSLinkModule() error)
Hi folks,
I''m new to Rails. I picked up Simply Rails 2 by Patrick Lenz a few weeks
ago and I finally sat down to get stuck into it. I have Rails installed
on my iMac (OS X Leopard) and I can load up the Rails Welcome screen at
localhost:3000 without any issues.
My problem is with running IRB within Terminal.
If I try to run:
irb> 1
I receive the error:

I believe this 'rule' in English is misunderstood by many and as a
general rule of thumb...
tl;dr:
Words from Old English that came into modern English, use 'Old English'
pluralisation: eg, sheep, fish etc.

English people (excludes USA people) should always try to speak simple,
jargon-free, easily understandable and logically expressed English
especially when conversing with non-English people.

Problem generating scaffold with a namespace
I''m trying to generate a scaffold based on a model in a namespace and
I would like the controller to have a similar namespace.
Am I thinking that scaffold should be doing something it doesn''t or is
this a bug?
