Migrated fine except passwords
Hello,
I migrated 140 users and computer accounts from NT4 to Samba 3.0.14
with ldap today.
Smbldap-tools are the latest stable version from tarball.
No errors during vampire and everyone came over
and the groups and group memberships populated fine.
We couldn't connect to the server as any user from client PC's.
The smbldaptools were set to use SSHA encryption for password attribute

Depth-argument for sfq?
I''m not a programmer per se (including C), but...
I''d like to be able to give the define in sch_sfq.c (of, say, 2.4.20),
SFS_DEPTH other values than 128 as an argument on the tc commandline. It
could be powers of two up to 2^7 (128) as it seems that 128 is the
current maximum.
I''m a little anxious to ask the question "How do I do that?" ;-)

Problems with ICQ etc. on nano-setup
I administer a nano-setup on a dorm-network with a couple of hundred
active users.
The setup uses 2 x 2 2Mb/s DSLs, meaning two DSLs from each of two
different ISPs.
It works fine except for some minor glitches:
https-sites often kicks users. This was solved by tying outbound https
to a single DSL. Not the best solution but it works so far that users
dont kicked from the sites anymore. Now

cameras and CentOS
Hi
I want to put up a few cameras connected to a CentOS box.
I currently have a box with one camera and that works (USB),
I can take a pic (the script does that) and see that on a webpage.
However, I want to have a couple of cameras a little further
away (more than 5 meters).
USB has a limit, I have tried that camera with a longer cable
and it does not work ... so I need to route that in a

link): "ln: cannot create symbolic link: Operation not permitted." I've set the

Sessionbased traffic on NANO?
I use the wellknown nano setup (by Christoph Simon) on a few sites with
success.
From time to time a user approaches me with problems that seems to
originate from the fact that only trafic to the samt DST IP on the net
will get out the same link.
The problem happens with traffic from applications that contact
different IPs in the "same session".
An example is Anarchy Online, where

[LLVMdev] proposal to avoid zlib dependency.
I also want to point out that there is prior art for bundling these types
of single-source-file utility libraries in lib/Support. We have MD5.cpp,
ConvertUTF.cpp, and reg*.c implementing various bits of functionality.
Adding a miniz.c doesn't seem like that big of a deal.

kernel: locore.s doesn't assemble (fillkpt, $PAGE_SHIFT, $PTESHIFT)
since august 8th, 2003 the kernel on my i386 pentiumIII won't compile.
the problem arises in locore.s with the definition of the constants
$PAGE_SHIFT and $PTESHIFT used in `shr' and `shl' instructions within
the macros `fillkpt' and `fillkptphys'.
i've tried to cvsup(1) RELENG_4 and RELENG_4_8 every day for over a
week now, but kernel builds (as part of a buildworld)

Monty on holiday
Hi folks,
My wife and I are taking a long weekend to celibrate our anniversary. I won't
be around again until Wednesday to answer email or do anything else on Vorbis.
Yeah, I know, I usually answer my email once a month anyway (so likely no one
would notice me being gone), but just so folks know if anything really juicy
comes up :-)
I'll be merging my latest branch with mainline

Fair bandwidth sharing
Hi all,
I have been playing with tc trying to share the available bandwidth
fairly between all the terminals in my internet cafe.
I spend a while and had some help and setup some htb classes on my
outgoing interface, I has now dawned on me that this will only shape
the outgoing traffic, and if someone starts a large download, all the
available incomming bandwidth will be used by the one

Fair Bandwidth sharing with HTB and EFSQ
I downloaded the HTB and ESFQ packages and installled the patched kernel

Now can someone give me an example how to configure my system so that
the 512Kbit are fairly divided for each computer ? Assume that eth0 is
the interface on the WAN side and eth1 on the LAN side.
Thanks

Fair warning regarding the future of the COM32 format
Hi all,
I just want to give everyone a heads-up that I'm considering removing
support for COM32 in favour of relocatable (-fPIC) ELF files, or some
other relocatable format. This would allow one "ELFCOM" file to call
out to another, and then return.
Part of the idea here is to run the main syslinux UI and probably the
filesystem drivers in "ELFCOM" code, which
