Weird quirk with ingress policing
Hi,
I notice that if two or more existing connections match an ingress
policing filter, the input bandwidth does not get evenly divided up
between the n connections.
Kinda like litters of baby animals, where the stronger babies get more
access to the mothers teats and grow up bigger and faster than their
siblings.
The only workaround that''s working for me is to set explicit ingress

pyshaper
Has anyone used a program called ''pyshaper''?
It looks interesting and I am thinking of trying it.
Just wanted to see if anyone had success with this traffic shaping utility.

Hardware solution? (or v.easy software fix instead)
I''m moving to a new place and my new flatmate wants a router because
he likes the cleaness of it all in a non geeky way which I can
understand.
This means it''s going to be hard for me to pursude him to let me run a
computer as a router to act as bandwidth cop.
But I don''t fancy trying to use ssh, VNC and games while he''s using
WindowsUpdate or p2p.
So I need

Configure Asterisk to preserve SIP header?
Hello.
Is it possible to configure Asterisk to preserve specific SIP INVITE headers
when setting up a call?
Specifically, I have a custom SIP client that sends an additional header in
the INVITE request when originating a call. This is to request that the call
is auto-answered by the destination phone. i.e.
Call-Info: <sip:192.168.100.50>;answer-after=0

Help with Python, R and RPY
Hi All:
Walter Moreira wrote a small extension module for using the R programming
language from within Python. Tim Church's example at
http://www.cmat.edu.uy/~walterm/rpy was so compelling, I could not resist
installing it on my Linux Mandrake 8.1 box.
But I ran into problems.
I have installed on Mandrake 8.1 both python and R:

Bug in Configurator.change_privilege?
Hello.
I have discovered that mongrel does not correctly take on all the
groups of the requested user/group combination. It seems that while
the specified user and group is correctly activated, all the other
groups that are associated with this user are not enabled and the
group permissions remain the same as the caller (i.e. root).
This problem (and solution) is discussed in the Ruby Forum:

Rpy Import Error
I am trying to install Rpy to test it out as an R
interface for a project that I am working on.
However, I get the following error. Any clues as to
what might be going on? I have alo tried RSPython, but
I gave up due to errors. RSPython segfaults when
started from R and gives an error message I can;t
remember from python. Thanks, Brett

package dependency problem
Post Turkey Day (#1 Shopping Day) Greetings!
I am running CentOS-3 as a desktop distribution.
Everything is fine except for Idle, the integrated
development environment that comes with Python.
Python is version 2.2, but Idle is version 0.8. The
Idle 0.8 keyboard is driving me nuts.
On my Windows box, I downloaded from www.python.org
and installed Python, and got Python 2.3 and Idle

Nested shared library calls in Linux
Hi,
I have an interface from R to the wxPython GUI toolkit which
works under Windows:
http://bioinf.wehi.edu.au/folders/james/wxPython/
(as long as you build RSPython with a shared (not static)
Python library).
But on Linux I get an error:
> library(RSPython)
> importPythonModule("wx")

[ADV/ANN] Easy recurring billing with Authorize.net
I have just put out an update to the SaaS Rails Kit, a sample Rails
application that implements recurring billing. This update adds support for
the Authorize.net payment gateway. With the Rails Kit and Authorize.net
CIM, you get a complete and very flexible subscription billing system that
you can use as a starting point for building your software-as-a-service
Rails application, so you can skip

VMWare ESX mboot.c32
Hi.
VMWare has an own/modified mboot.c32, which is capable of using
Configfiles. This mboot.c32 is on every Installsystem for their ESXi
hypervisor install-iso.
Until syslinux 4.07 this works with pxelinux out of the box.
Since 5.x this mboot.c32 will not work anymore.
There seem to be more modifications than only a parameter "-c".
Does anyone has an idea what has changed so this

can not get a connection to their SIP proxy from Asterisk going through a
