simple routing protocol for VPN redundancy?
Hello all,
I need a very simple routing protocol for VPN redundancy.
We have several sites and each site has a Linux router and two IPCops each
with an ADSL connection to the internet using different ISP''s.
I have configured VPN''s between all of the sites for each IPcop on ispA and
the same for the IPCops on ispB. This way, if one of the ISP fails, I change
the route on the

Routing or Nat question
Hi
I used to have a xDSL with a Cisco 677 router setup that connected via
PPPoE to my ISP.
I now have a different ISP that uses a xDSL modem setup which means my
shorewall firewall machine external interface hooks up til my ISP by
directly by DHCP and gets a real internet IP while before with my router
setup .
My question is:
With my Cisco router setup i could from my LAN access my outside IP

[Bridge] Bridge MAC address
Sorry, if this question has been answered before, but I could not find
out with a brief look.
How can I set the MAC address for a bridge? The MAC address given for
the bridge device seems to be the one it sends network packets with if
the bridge device has an IP address set. Apparently the bridge starts
with a zero MAC address and when the first interface is attached to
it, it takes its MAC

Anyone having trouble with VoicePulse Connect?
I've been using my voicepulse connect number for over
a month now, but today it simply won't connect. My
partner and I each have a number, both are mapped in
my iax.conf and extensions.conf files. This has been
working fine.
Today, either number gives this message:

how many people still use NIS?
Hello listmates,
I have discovered a very strange SFTP problem which I can not connect to
anything but NIS thus far. See here:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-server-73/sftp-seems-to-fail-for-nis-accounts-under-openssh-5-x-816020/
http://readlist.com/lists/suse.com/suse-linux-e/38/193419.html
Hence the question: is NIS (YP) still in use much anywhere for
authentication?
Thanks.

WINS across two networks and a router
Hello, everybody.  This one''s got me stumped.  What I''m trying to do is have
two networks--192.168.1.0 and 192.168.2.0--with SMB and WINS running between
them.  So far I can mount SMB shares allright, but I can''t browse by WINS
names across the router.  I''ve posted this question on Linuxquestions.org;
you''ll find the details there.

Getting Samba3.0.9 to work on Debian(woody) for AD Authentication
Hi,

I am using samba 3.0.9 on Debian (woody) IA 64 bit server. I have made
a post on linuxquestions.org which contains my compilation and its
arguments, krb5.conf, smb.conf, also my kinit and wbinfo -u, g, t, all
of which work. I also have the official samba guide and samba by
example. I do not have telnet installed and have tried to configure my
SSH PAM options. I was wondering if anyone

Linux basics
Hello,

I am just starting to research Asterisk and I would like to install it on a PC to try out. I have looked around quite a bit but I haven't found much information on the Linux part. I know you need to put Linux on the PC first but what version or flavor of Linux do you recommend? I contacted Red Hat and they had not heard of Asterisk and they said Asterisk is not certified for Red Hat.

Dynamic IP Addrress Work Around
I have one of my asterisks off an xDSL modem with a dynamic IP address. The
IP address keeps on changing so I am curious as to what other people are
doing to work around this issue. I am contemplating to register for a
dynamic DNS service but then my communications become dependent on the
availability of this service. The "host=dynamic" for SIP seems interesting.
Any suggestions?

CentOS 4.5 and CentOS 5.0 News
Hi,
I use CentOS as a firewall/proxy/webserver/fileserver
in my small network. As the small-spec machine with
CentOS is heavily loaded/used I can't afford downtime.
20 GB, pentium II with only 128 MB RAM.
However I want to know the news on 4.5 is it due soon?
Can I gain more by running CentOS 3.x range on such an
old machine like mine?
Will CentOS 5.0 mean you need a minimum of 512 RAM?

problem with cached netbios name of wins server
fc2, samba 3.0.9
The samba server is PDC.
Temporarily, the server was dhcp, which gave it the IP
192.168.1.64
we then set it to static 192.168.1.150, which is what
we want.
however, the different windows clients, on and off, on
ping and such, resolve INTRANET, the netbios name of
the pdc, to 192.168.1.64 still, despite me removing
wins.dat.
I even tried the following suggestion, to no avail

I have requested tests of this USB installer:

A test in UEFI mode:
