Private Address Routing via Tunnels
Hi, I''m trying to do some horrible private address routing between networks. Is there a way to handle the following? I''m guessing policy routing *might* be the way, but anyway... Two networks, accessible via public addresses -- a /29 on each. Each network, however, has more machines than this, so one also has 192.168.0.0/24 and the other has 192.168.1.0/24. I have an IPIP

Multicast love
I am trying to get multicast traffic to traverse 3 different subnets call connected to the same linux router. This is primarily to get rendezvous/zeroconf services working for Macs on the network. Being able to experiment with the VideoLAN client''s multicasting abilities would be a bonus. I see that rendezvous sends out packets with a TTL of 1 and expects them back with a TTL of 255 so

Linux as a multicast router
Hi all, We want linux (ubuntu) with 2.6 kernel to act as multicast router and to pass multicast packets between different subnets. And linux machine as router has two network cards having two different subnets assigned onto. We first worked "sysctl -w net.ipv4.ip_forward=1" line on linux shell that made linux to work as unicast router. (like host, the multicast packets were discarded at

Hello list, Not sure if I am asking the question in the correct list. I am a newbie trying to get multicast routing to work on my linux 2.4 kernel. I am using usc pimd code. I have pimd which sets up the route in the kernel [ /tmp]# ip mroute show (22.22.22.1, 224.0.1.20) Iif: eth2 Oifs: eth1 [ /tmp]# I can see data packets arriving on eth2 [/tmp]# tethereal -i eth2 Capturing

Multicast Routing & mDNS
Hi, I''m investigating getting iTunes sharing to work within a VPN. Does anybody know where I could find some documentation on forwarding mDNS packets between two subnets connected by two Linux routers? The LARTC guide just stops mid chapter. Thanks, James. Port based VLAN Switch + tc + routing troube
Hello, I have a little strange config. I will try to explain it as short as possible. I have ethernet switch, which is Port Based VLAN enabled. For example: this switch have 3 ports. Port 1 is VLAN 1 only. Port 2 is VLAN 2 only. Port 3 is VLAN 1 and 2. This means that if packet come from Port 1 it will be sent ONLY to port 3. If packet come from Port 2 it again will be sent to Port 3 only.

Multicast routing problem
Hi, I''m trying to route multicast between 2 LANs using a GRE tunnel. The setup is: B to C is a GRE tunnel running over PPPoE. B is the multicast router. A is on the same LAN as B. The same ethernet adapter is used for both the LAN and PPPoE connections. I''ve setup smcroute since I only need static routing. Multicasts sent from C (the remote machine) to B over the

I''m based in Madagascar and my English is not good; so please forgive me. *What I want to come-up with: *My main goal is to download using two modems at the same time, and combining their bandwidth, but I have failed miserably. The reason is this: our country is still using poor slow internets, and I have seen on the

building a multicast router
Hi, I have been reading: http://lartc.org/howto/lartc.multicast.html in effort to understand how to route multicast traffic and just joined the group. History: I am trying to multicast mpeg (using the videolan server) on a private network. The server side of the network is copper gigabit, which connects to one of those cheap fast Ethernet switches with a single gigabit uplink. The problem

Multicast routing
How do the Multicast routers sniff IGMP/MLD messages from the network? I checked the XORP, pimd etc. Most of them just open a RAW socket with protocol set to IPPROTO_IGMP. But using this the router gets the packets addressed to 224.0.0.1 only. How does it receive IGMPv2 and IGMPv3 membership reports sent by other hosts? Thanks, Sachin

ip route nat problem
After upgrading our router from redhat 7.3 (linux 2.4.18 ) to mandrake 10.0 (linux 2.6.3) some of our routing scripts failed. This configuration worked properly before we changed distributions. X.X.X.2 is supposed to recieve traffic for X.X.X.6 and nat that to Z.Z.Z.46 ip addr list |grep ''eth[0123]'' 2: eth0: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP> mtu 1500 qdisc pfifo_fast qlen
