Browsing speed becomes slow
Hi all, I hv installed Linux 7.2 for proxy. PC config: P-II, 128MB RAM, 20 GB HDD. MY LAN is mixed with 10 & 100 MBPS switches. I hv a band width of 64K Broad Band. 25 Users are browsing thro'' this proxy. If all the users start browsing, Browser displays half the page & stops over there. Users visit the image sites like fpg.com, corbis.com etc. The Squid is not so

rate limiting netmask w/ dd-wrt
I''m trying to setup a DD-WRT router (www.dd-wrt.com; embedded micro-device linux for the uninitiated) to rate limit all the traffic it receives from its wi-fi interface. I followed the instructions from the cookbook section on rate limiting (http://lartc.org/howto/lartc.ratelimit.single.html), but it doesn''t appear to be working. I tested by checking my laptop''s

relation b/w uplink and downlink rate control
Hello all, I have browsed archives and real all available HOWTOs, but I still have a few doubts. My set up is a router, as below. LAN(100MB)-------------(eth1)Linux-Router(eth0)---------------WAN(2MB/512) My aim is to cotrol both uplink and downlink bandwidth. For uplink control, I will use HTB on WAN interface. For downlink, I plan to attach HTB on LAN interface(both egress/outgoing). No

packet rate limiting
Hi, I''m currently looking for a QoS extension that allows to limit the packet rate to a given value. As I''m using HTB at the moment bandwidth limiting works pretty well but packet rate limiting would be superb. I do traffic shaping on a firewalling bridge (2.4.21) using iptables mark and HTB. Any suggestions would be appriciated! Regards, Mike -- COMPUTERBILD 15/03:

allocating b/w
Hi, A majority of our work inolves ftp to my clients'' side over our slow connection. Now we need to allocate a greater b/w for this protocol. Is there anyway I can do it using lartc easily? Any suggestions on this please? With warm regards, -Payal _______________________________________________ LARTC mailing list / LARTC@mailman.ds9a.nl http://mailman.ds9a.nl/mailman/listinfo/lartc

Rate-Limiting from Any IP
Here''s a topic I have not seen discussed yet: Is it possible to set it up so that traffic from any one IP or network is rate-limited? I don''t mean making a rule for a specific IP. I mean having a router/fw that will not let any one IP use up more than a specified amount of bandwidth, or be allowed to issue more than X packets per second. An example might be that you

bandwidth limiting when src and dst are on the same interface
Hello! I have a problem here. I set up a Linux 2.4 machine to do bandwidth limiting for some of our customers. Current setup is something like this: |--------| backbone |-------| |---------| |Internet|225.1-----------225.10|limiter|228.1----228.10|cust. gw2| |--------| | eth0 |-------| eth1 |---------| | 225.20

limiting bandwidth on iface
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi there! Well, as an exercise, I try ''simulating'' an adsl link (just the speed ;o)) with a GRE tunnel and HTB for bandwidth limiting. Typically in germany adsl has about 1024kbit downstream and 128kbits upstream (yes, there are others ;) but these are what I have) - which are the values i try to simulate. Here is the snipped that

limiting the bandwidth for *each* ip in some class
hello all, i got my htb running and controlling my bandwidth right, but i have a doubt. i configured HTB to limit my class 192.168.0.0/24 to 128kbit. but i want 128kbit for *each* machine on this class, and not for the entire class. when 2 machines in 192.168.0.0/24 are downloading one file, they share the 128kbit bandwidth between them, using 64kbit for each. why i can get all machine on this

Bandwidth limiting for each computer in subnet
Dear members I''m new to this list and also new to tc command. I have a subnet with over 30 pc which have ip addresses from 172.16.1.1/16 range.I want that each computer in my subnet can work with internet with maximum 6k for download and maximum 6k for upload.when i run the following tc commands from my bridge the first pc works well but the second pc can not work with 6k and it has an

limiting users on a 128kbit line
Hello! I''ve been trying to write a traffic shaper for a 128kbit line with this setup : 5 computers that get dedicated bandwidth and the rest go in a pool with bigger priorities. I made the attached script, but it seems it doesn''t work... It sends the traffic coming from the dedicated ips to the default class. Where is the error ? Will this setup work if the bandwidth is

Bandwidth Limiting using HTB?
Hello All, I''ve been playing around with HTB and reading the various lists for information on how to limit bandwidth on a particular ip or mac address. If I understand correctly, in order to use HTB for this, I would have to create a separate root class for each ip address that I wanted to limit. I have tried this and it seems to work. This seems okay for a few ips, but seems

Limiting bandwidth usage - where to begin
Hi, I am very new in this list.. I want each of my internet users to be limited in his/her usage of bandwidth. The limitation will be done in my squid (linux) box, as they all have to be authenticated by squid before going to the internet jungle.. Then anybody here could tell me where to begin to do such thing ? Any idea/solution would be very appreciated TIA regards, aqil

how do you rate limit routable traffic without rate limiting LAN protocols like arps and igmp?
I''m rate limiting and prioritizing traffic upstream of a slow wan link using htb, classic wonder shaper type stuff. I''m using the following command for traffic that does not match any of my defined filters: tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1: htb default 50 It appears that local, non-routable traffic like arps and igmp are being snared by this and end-up queued in the lowest

Bandwidth limiting
Hello. I need help with limiting bandwidth. I have read every tutorial I''ve come over and I just can''t make anything work. Ok, here''s the scenario: I have a gateway, which has five network interfaces (eth0 -> eth4), eth0 is the ''external'' one and eth[1-4] are supposed to be limited to 128Kbit/s each. The interfaces eth[1-4] each have a C-class

Limiting Bandwidth of an ppp interfaces
Hi everyone. I''m working on a problem since some days. I have a linux router with about 100 ppp interfaces. Each interface should bei limited to an individual bandwidth of 1024kbit, 2048kbit or 3096kbit. Up AND downstream. (let''s say for example 1024kbit upstream and 1024kbit downstream) The reason for this problem: I have to limit users to their booked bandwidth, because
