rounding of voronoi vertices using deldir()
Hello list, I'm just getting started with using R - I have been trying over the past day or so to work out a method for generating voronoi polygons for PostGIS using SQL. I was able to put together a procedure which works relatively well, but is somewhat inefficient. Someone on the PostGIS list pointed me to the deldir() function in R, for which I can export a text file with x/y coordinates

IvyGIS --- Rails Engine for custom maps.
Hi. I''m announcing a Rails Engine for presenting maps based on your own data, either rendered by Mapserver, or pulled directly out of geometric database tables stored by PostGIS. There''s a demo here: http://ivygis.mgxkernel.com:3000/canada which shows a tiled, draggable version of a Mapserver demo map, with mouse-sensitive park polygons and railroads (SVG in Firefox 1.5+,

postgis-2.0.7-2.el7 still in epel7-testing?
Hi all, I'm looking for a fix in postgis, which seems to be fixed already in postgis-2.0.7-2.el7. However that package seems to be 'stuck' in the epel7-testing repository: https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=750618 https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-EPEL-2016-b6c229157e Is there a reason that the package is not pushed to stable yet? Or can it be

Build associated model confusion
I''m new to Rails3, and I''m just trying to get one last thing to work before I call it a night. The situation is the following (please if the code is horrible, just let me know, still learning): I want to log a dive. I might have a new location on that dive at which point I have to create a new Location, and then create the dive. A dive has_one location. A location has_many

geokit app
Newbie here :) So, a friend mentioned that geokit is the way to go if I want to make a simple location based app. I basically want to make a list of locations so the app should allow me to Create a location, give it a name and an address along with the geo location information associated with it. (Geokit will take care of this last thing right?) I tried looking for sample apps but had no

convert opengis wkt to geometry?
After writing some code (stupidly without checking to see if there was code to do this already) to generate PostGIS SQL insert statements for simple geometry (wkt), I didn't check see if there is already something available to convert WKT strings into some R package geometry (sp?). Does anyone have any advice, hints, code (?) for converting the following OpenGIS strings into something

Connecting to PostgreSQL/PostGIS from R (rgdal?)
Hello, I've been trying every now and then to find a cross operating system solution that would let me access PostgreSQL (and PostGIS) from R, or to access R from PostgreSQL. I know of pl/r, which accomplishes the latter, but has yet to be successfully ported to Windows. Similarly, I've tried to use Rdbi and DBI, but I haven't had luck with those on Windows either for connecting to

creating fixtures for has_many :through
I''m stymied at how to create a fixture that establishes a has_many :through relationship. I''ve watched the railscast at: http://media.railscasts.com/videos/081_fixtures_in_rails_2.mov ... but that''s for HABTM relationships. I''ve read: http://www.ruby-forum.com/topic/145676 but that ultimately doesn''t answer any question. So with no further ado:

PostgreSQL. Multiply schemas in one database. How to?
Hi all. I am using PostgreSQL in my current project and I have couple of questions on this topic. Previously I have used 3 databases for project. i.e. megaproject_development, megaproject_test and megaproject_development. But I don''t like this variant because of ''rake dump_db_structure'' writes a lot of PostgreSQL specific data for structure file (operators, functions,

Bus error when running Hieraki
I have been trying to set up Hieraki 2.0.1 and I cannot seem to get it running. I am running on FreeBSD 5.4, Ruby 1.8.4, Apache 2.0.55, Mysql 4.1.16, ruby-mysql 2.7, mod_scgi 1.9, scgi_rails 4.3 and Rails 1.0. I can start up the wiki, get it to display the home page, and when I click on the signup link the signup form displays. When I fill in the signup form and click the signup button, the

Rails 3: I have a view books/:id/show.html.erb - in the view, I have a form with a select tag to pick a template, that on dropdown should submit the form which rerenders the page based on the selection: <%= form_tag book_path(@book) do %> > > <%= select_tag "template[]", >> options_for_select([["Template1","template1"], ["Template2",

YAML, UTF-8, TextMate, Notepad
This is not a question but a report on the difficulties I had and the solution I found with respect to UTF-8, YAML::load, and Ruby/Rails. Comments are appreciated. - - - I had been struggling for two days to get UTF-8 working in my Rails app. I had/have a localization file, lib\locale\de.yml, that had iso-8859-1 encoding. I could not get that to display properly. Marnen, quite correctly,

Replaced Rails Package with HiveLogic Install - problems
Hi, I''ve got a strange problem. I had initially installed Rails using Tony Arnold''s package: <http://www.tonyarnold.com/articles/category/rails> and that worked fine. (on OS X, obviously). I then decided to reinstall using the instructions on the HiveLogic page, to get Ruby 1.8.4: <http://hivelogic.com/articles/2005/12/01/ruby_rails_lighttpd_mysql_tiger> That

compilers a security risk?
I manage a web hosting server that we've recently upgraded, in part so we could accommodate a domain that will enable community mapping. In a recent exchange of mails one developer said: "I could build the package directly on the server machine you have, provided that the potential security risk posed by having compilers installed is not an issue." and another said:

PostGIS 2.1 rasters available to Rails code: breadcrumbs
Just wanted to post this in case someone else was faced with the same problem. It''s database-specific code, worse, it''s specific to a particular * version* of a particular *extension* to a particular database, wires in SQL, and uses eval on a string of data from the database! So, you know, I''m getting coal in my stocking from DHH this year. I can deal. (After the

marnen-foreigner 0.5.2: MS SQL Server 2005 support
Hi everyone! I''m delighted to announce the release of marnen-foreigner 0.5.2. This is my fork of matthuhiggins-foreigner 0.5.0, and adds MS SQL Server 2005 foreign key constraint support to the MySQL and PostgreSQL support that was already in the gem. This is my first public gem release, and I''d welcome nitpicks and contributions. Source is available at
