help with "rake db:migrate" error please?
Hi,
Just trying to get my first database based rails app up on
dreamhost.com. The app was working prior to putting in mysql DB usage
but I''m just stuck on getting the app working with mysql. I''ve already
created the database and can connect to it manually.
Below is the error I get after running the rake migrate. It worked OK
on my home PC environment. I did change the

Hi, I am very new to this so please go easy on me... I am trying to
deploy my app on dreamhost and I seem to be having problems getting it
working. One of the troubleshooting items on the wiki states:
Rails apps in production mode do not reflect changes made after they
start running. So, if you found a bug, fixed it and nothing appeared to
happen--this is probably because you

anybody using GoDaddy for hosting ?
Is anybody hosting with GoDaddy.com? I''m about to set up a hosted account for my RoR app and see that they''re now offering RoR hosting. I''d really appreciate hearing from anybody who''s tried them for RoR. Any congrats / complaints / etc. you had / are having would be really appreciated!
Thanks,
Bill

Does shared hosting work? Anywhere?
I moved a rails application to textdrive using their low-cost shared plan.
Once on textdrive my app would display ''proxy errors'' periodically. Hitting
reload
seemed to be all that was needed to get past the proxy error.
After discussions with their support people I decided the proxy errors were
being caused by apache server restarts -- because there were many of us

Database can''t connect -
I''m sorry guys. I''m really still such a newbie at this. i''ve been having
trouble getting my Rails apps to run on Dreamhost, and I think it might
be a problem with the database connection. Anyway, I read on Code
Snippets that I should do this:
[rhod]$ ruby -Iconfig -renvironment -e "p ActiveRecord::Base.connection"
to find out if my database.yml file is

Deploying my rails app to GoDaddy
So I''ve written my first real-world RoR app and I''m now getting ready
to deploy it. Unfortunately, my client decided to use GoDaddy as the
hosting provider and based on what I''ve seen so far from the web, it''s
not really the smoothest or ideal hosting for RoR apps. There were
several posts here that I tried to follow but they were kinda old
(2008, 2007). Most of

exec format error
Hi
I have been using backgroundrb version 0.1 for a while. Unfortunately, I
have to develop on windows :(
It has worked fine for a while. However, this morning I started up and old
app that worked fine and get this error.
exec format error
from running --trace I see that the error comes from backgroundrb_tasks.rb
line 59 which reads:
59 `#{scripts_src}/start -d`
Here is the context.

cron like behaviour?
Hi
I have previously used railscron for server-side manipulation of the
database but had a heap of trouble working with it.
BackgrounDRB was suggested to me by a friend.
I upload some files via acts_as_attachment and these go lie in a dir
structure that i desire. What I want from the background process is to
periodically (not user initiated) do some file-structure manipulation i.e. I

Install Mariadb on Centos 7 fails
Folks
I'm having problems installing Mariadb in Centos 7.
Here's what I did:
0) Become root
1) Make sure that mariadb and mysql are NOT installed.
2) Delete residual libs
rm -rf /var/lib/mysq*
3) yum install -y mariadb-server
installed mariadb-5.5.50-1.el7_2.x86_64 from the Centos
'updates' repository
4) systemctl start mariadb
5) systemctl status mariadb

mysql
I just installed CentOS 3.5. Included in the install was mysql. When
trying to start it using: service mysqld start. The system responds
with mysqld not recpognized as a service. When trying to use
/usr/bin/mysql I receive this error: ERROR 2002: Can't connect to local
MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2). A search

Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket...
I just did an unwanted mysql upgrade and am now unable to start the
mysql service.
After doing some searching the common solution is to just create a
symlink
ln -s /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock /tmp/mysql.sock
The issue for me is I don''t have the file I am trying to symlink to
(/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock)
If I try to start mysql manually (mysql start) I get the error:
# mysql start
