Seeking advice: ADS domain, Samba3 server locally and via WAN
Hello,
from the Samba3 docs I learnt that Samba currently cannot function as an
ADS "secondary" domain controller.
Imagine the following setup:
At location A of a company, I have a W2K ADS domain controller and a
Samba3 machine as an ADS member server. Connectivity is via 2Mbit to the
Internet.
At location B, which is located in another country and connected to the
Internet with a

Using a Dual WAN Load Balancing Device
We have a client that wants to bond 2 DSL circuits instead of getting
a T-1 (or similar) at their office to run their VoIP traffic on. We
came across this Multihomed Gateway (MH200):
http://www.cyberpathinc.com/mh200/details.htm
Does anybody think this would work if installed at the client location
handling NAT for 10 Cisco 7960's and connecting to our public asterisk
server?

QoS on a bridge+NAT
I have a setup where I have three NIC in a Debian box. I have eth1
conected to internet and eth0 NAT''ed to 192.168.1.1. eth1 and eth2 are
bridged together, given ip 192.168.122.2.
What I want to achieve is to perform traffic shaping on the bridge as
well as prioritizing the traffic from eth0 very low. (This is from
trental flat ...) However it seems that I am unable to perform thhe

Multiple WAN link -- CentOS Suitability
My situation:
I have a cable modem (COMCAST 6Mbit d/l) and am about to also have DSL
(Verizon 3 Mbit d/l). I was thinking of using CentOS (4.4, 4.5, or 5??) as
a router/dhcp server/firewall for my home network consisting of 3 to 6
computers at any given time. I seek the wisdom of the members of this list

Clarification required for Prio in CBQ dequeing order
Hi,
I have been modifying the Wonder shaper to include another queue. My
understanding was packets would be de queued to hardware in the following
order:
cbq1 -> sfq10 > sfq20 > sfq30.
Also we only move onto the next queue when the preceding one is empty.
However is seems to be prio xx number that reflects the order packets are
de queued not to what flowid they belong to.

Multi-ISP :- Multi-Wan Broadband Router Appliance VS Multiple eth Linux routing
Hi all
I need to use three 512 kbps aDSL internet connections, in a load-sharing,
link-failover scenario. Presently I am using Ipcop with a single DSL. Now, I
seem to have two options...one..an Edimax quad wan port adsl router, with
firewalling and NAT and second install a minimal linux distro for
routing...something on the lines of LARTC....and keep NATTING, IDS &

load balancing between two dsl links
Hi,
I am connected to two DSL providers (DSL 1 - 1Mbps downlink/384kbps
uplink and DSL 2 - 2Mbps downlink/512kpbs uplink)
I would like to only allow ftp, pop3 and http via the DSL 1 and only
smtp, ipsec and pptp via DSL 2.
How can I do so? Can I use iproute to route these protocols?
Below is my ip routing: -
# DSL 1

samba in a WAN
Hello...
We have a NT4 Domain in our mainoffice.
Now we have to install servers all over germany.
(About 20 locations) The offices are connectet over DSL/VPN.
We think about using samba to have a stable and inexpensive solution.
Is there a solution to use samba over a wide area network?
We have alraedy one standalone samba-domain (domain-logons with
machine-accounts) in a small office in

SPA-2102 sending local IP instead of WAN IP in SIP packets
Hi Guys,
This is such an annoying issue whenever it comes up. The sender and receive
always receive the source public IP no matter what in the IP packets but
then SIP packets go out with something like 192.168.0.20.
In this instance, a Bell Canada DSL modem is installed and I saw the
SPA-2102 register properly but only to fail later on due to sending it's LAN
IP to the Asterisk server.
So,

Fwd: Traffic Shaping on a Transparent Bridge not working!
I''m trying to shape traffic on a Devil-Linux box.
This note was originally sent to their maillist,
because the LARTC list appears to have been down
for the past few days. My mailbox was just flooded
with a half dozen or so confirmation requests in response
to my repeated attempts to subscribe to this list.

multi-wan / multi-path
Is tinc able to use multiple gateways for outgoing connections?
Or is it restricted to the default gateway?
In other words...
If I have a branch office with a cable connection and a dsl
connection, could it use both in an active/hot-standby fashion?

Puzzled why my scripts don''t give me the desired result
I am wondering if someone can examine why my set up does not give me the
desired result. What I aim to achieve is to make DNS, ICMP, POP3, HTTP,
SSH, SMTP traffic at a higher priority than FTP serving and Kazza traffic.
However, when the FTP server is busy servicing FTP traffic, web browsing
traffic has dragged to almost unusable.
Abstract of my iptables script follows:-

Terminal Services and traffic control.
Hi everybody,
I have a network that only uses terminal services.
Look at the diagram.
20 machines running WinXP <-> LinuxFW-1 <-> 1Mbit link dedicated fiber link <–> LinuxFW-2 <–> Terminal Server
I’d like to give the maximum priority for bandwidth to terminal services (port 3389).
I’ve changed the CBQ script from LARTC site to suite my needs, but every time I

Strange smbclient -L behaviour across WAN link
Hello folks,
I hope somebody here can help shed light on this peculiar behaviour of
smbclient. When we execute:
smbclient -L <host>
and the host is across a VPN link traversing a WAN (DSL) link we get the
following:
1. <host> is Windows 98SE: OK, smbclient completes
2. <host> is Windows XP or Samba 3.x: smbclient is able to retrieve the
share list but hangs trying to get

Traffic Shaping for DVB gateway
Hello all,
I am providing broadband service through DVB circuit.
I have 4KB uplink and 32KB downlink. I want to share
32KB downlink bandwidth among 192.168.0.0/24 (20 users
in this subnet i.e 192.168.0.2-192.168.0.22)subnet
where each user will get 2KB to 6KB bandwidth. And
from 4KB uplink bandwidth each users will get only 1KB
to 2KB bandwidth.
