Optimizing with constraints using alabama
Hi,
I am testing code that is working successfully using constrOptim. I am replacing constrOptim with other solvers to compare benefits and performance.
My belief was that, like constrOptim, auglag in the alabama package would eliminate beta vectors that failed the constraints prior to calling the objective
function. These betas are not only not in the solution space but also cause

Constrained Optimization in R (alabama)
Dear List,
I'm trying to solve this simple optimization problem in R. The parameters
are the exponents to the matrix mm. The constraints specify that each row
of the parameter matrix should sum to 1 and their product to 0. I don't
understand why the constraints are not satisfied at the solution. I must be
misinterpreting how to specify the constrains somehow.

Trouble with Optimization in "Alabama" Package
Hello,
This is my first post to the help request list, so I'm going to err on the
side of giving too much information.
I'm working on writing a simulation in which agents will make repeated
production and exchange decisions with randomly chosen partners.
The idea is, all agents can produce two goods which they want to consume,
they choose a value t in [0,10] which sets their production

Factor to continuous
Hi
I am really struggling with changing my factors into continuous variables.
There is plenty of information on changing continuous to a factor which is
the opposite of what i need to do. I would be soooooo grateful for any help
Thanks

ILBC to G711 transcoding experince ?
Hello All,
Anyone here has experience of accepting a ilbc call and sending it on g711 or g729
I am having problem in VOICE , call goes though but there is no voice.
Senario:
Call is coming in from Machine A to Machine B, sending to Machine C
Machine B is an asterisk box, transcoding it from IBLC to G711 and g729.
Problem:
Voice is not appearing on the sip user sitting on machine A

Ping win/FreeBSD probs
Okay,
I'm starting to get excited now because I think someone from the
Samba lists has pushed me in the right direction here. To recap:
I can't ping my win machine (192.168.1.2) from my FreeBSD box (192.168.1.3)
and vice versa. Both subnet masks are 255.255.255.0 and ipfw is not running.
I loaded the dos config program for the card on my BSD machine (by booting
off DOS floppy

Converting from RHEL to CentOS questions.
I have servers that are running:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 3 (Taroon Update 5)
and
Red Hat Linux Advanced Server release 2.1AS (Pensacola) [which I think RH
renamed as Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 2.1].
The servers are running fine. Is it possible (and if so, how) to convert
these to the equivalent releases of CentOS, without doing a complete upgrade

Dial Problem
I have a simple problem with sialing a SIP device. I'm SURE
it's a syntax problem, but I dunno what it might be.
Here are the debug messages:

Read variable column width data
Reading data with variable column widths.
Here are several lines of a txt data set I would like to read.
The number of variables is fixed at 13 . The problem is how to read the
first variable when it can contain blank space-- for example " Alabama
(Seasonally Adjusted)" , "St. Clair", etc.

Aastra 390 w/ADSI - Doesn't automagically use "Asterisk PBX" script
I have an Aastra 390 ADSI phone. It's not locked.
I can call ADSIProg without a problem and it programs my phone. Calling
Voicemail2 also programs my phone.
However, in order for the VMail option to appear on the screen I have to
go into the Services menu, pick Asterisk PBX and pick Select.
Then the VMail softbutton appears on the screen, but any time I make a
call it goes back to the

app_festival volume problems
I'm using app_festival to speak some text to callers. I'm having two
problems with this. The first is with IAX calls (I've not tried others)
the first few seconds of the speech is garbled. The second problem I'm
having is the the volume of the speech IS VERY LOUD. I tried putting
the following in the siteinit.scm but it didn't seem to make any
difference.

Example weather report AGI by Zip Code using Festival available
I have posted a link to the tarball of my rather simple AGI script that
allows a user to input a Zip Code (USA only) via DTMF and have the
current weather conditions spoken to them. This is the first release
and I'm sure it will have some bugs. It requires a few modules from
CPAN and the asterisk-perl AGI interface. It's a very small script.

Degrees of freedom using Box.test()
After an RSiteSeach("Box.test") I found some discussion regarding the degrees
of freedom in the computation of the Ljung-Box test using Box.test(), but did
not find any posting about the proper degrees of freedom.
Box.test() uses "lag=number" as the degrees of freedom. However, I believe
the correct degrees of freedom should be "number-p-q" where p and q are

ogg-vorbis and ARM
Hi,
I am attempting to port ogg-vorbis to the iPaq H36xx (see
http://handhelds.org). Since this device uses an ARM chip, no floating
point. Now the port was easy and worked fine, except that all the fp ops
were emulated, making it very very slow. So I thought I would try with
-msoft-float so an exception doesn't occur on every fp operation.
libm had no soft-float library available,
