imq or ingress+htb?
Todays quick question: Ive had problems with imq and getting my setup to work as planned. Im thinking that a better solution for shaping incoming traffic would be to put a little limit in the outer interface of the router box with ingress, and the shape traffic on the inner interface with htb. Would that be better than using imq? -- Patrick Petersen <lartc@schmakk.dk>

put shaping on ppp or eth?
Hi, I wanna do some shaping on a DSL line that is plugged to the eth1 nic. Should I attach the qdiscs directly to the ppp device or can I use the eth1 device instead? What (and why) makes more sense? thx cb _______________________________________________ LARTC mailing list / LARTC@mailman.ds9a.nl http://mailman.ds9a.nl/mailman/listinfo/lartc HOWTO: http://lartc.org/

For those who don't follow Ubuntu development carefully, the first Beta for the next Ubuntu was recently released, so I took my home system and upgraded to help out with filing bugs, etc. Just to be clear, I am not looking for help with the upgrade process. I've had R, and a few miscellaneous CRAN packages installed on this computer for years. Today, when I loaded an R session I had

IPsec and u32 filters
Hi, how can I filter IPsec traffic with u32 filters? I know IPsec needs Port 500/UDP and IP protocols 50 and 51. I know how to get the port stuff, but how can I make u32 to match the protocol number? thx, cb _______________________________________________ LARTC mailing list / LARTC@mailman.ds9a.nl http://mailman.ds9a.nl/mailman/listinfo/lartc HOWTO: http://lartc.org/

question about major:minor numbers
Hi, the documentation says "[the major number of a class] must be unique within a egress or ingress setup. The minor number must be unique within a qdisc and his classes." What is meant by "setup"? Does that include all qdiscs attached to any network device? Ie, if I have a qdisc attached to eth0 and another attached to eth1, do the major numbers I use have to be different at

Selectively filtering traffic in/out to common threshold
Hello again all, Question: I have a number of users, who need to be shaped at different rates. My question is this: Is there a way that I can shape both *inbound* and *outbound* traffic to not exceed a single threshold, ie. they can get x kbps traffic in or x kbps out, but no more than x kbps in/out combined? Best Regards, -AL.

burst question
This is one of my test classes: class htb 1:10 parent 1:1 prio 0 quantum 2048 rate 160Kbit ceil 400Kbit burst 1803b/8 mpu 0b cburst 2111b/8 mpu 0b level 0 Q1: where does "level 0" stand for? Q2: where does this b/8 stand for? Q3: this is on a i386 platform, so timer resolution should be 10mS. According to the doc the minimal burst should be 10mS*160Kbit=1600. Why is it 1803? Q4: I

IMQ Stability
Hello all, I have been doing a lot of archive searching over the last week reading posts on IMQ and it''s apparent stability / instability. I have seen a number of posts about it not being maintained as well. Can anyone talk to me about IMQ''s stability in a heavy throughput environment (20 Mbps) and what was causing IMQ to fail if you know. Thanks, Mike

Scheduler Mechnisms!
Hello, Normally, in addition to such qdisc scheduler mechanisms as FIFO, PQ, WRR, WFQ, are there any more? Then, there is a confusion on scheduler in Linux enviroment: Assume there is a qdisc, such as RED as a leaf qdisc in a router, we know, if there is packet which want to enqueue the packet, the Function red_enqueue is called, but when the packet leave the queue(when the Function red_dequeue

AIC for tweedie glm
Dear R-users, I'm trying to model some data using a tweedie GLM approach. My response variable is the number of pupae that are the offspring of a subordinate wasp on a wasp's nest. However, they're not count data- for each nest, I only know the mean number of pupae per subordinate, which is continous. The data also contain a high proportion of zeros. I'm not very experienced at
