streaming vorbis files from an openbsd box
Hi--
I've installed icecast2 and ices2 on an OpenBSD box. It all
seems sane from the server side, but when I try to listen to my stream
from winamp 2.76 with Peter Pawlowski's vorbis plugin (1.12), from a
win98se box, nothing plays. Nothing is appended to the ices2 log, and
the following is appended to the icescast2 log (when I terminate
icecast2):

ActiveResource sample code?
I''d like to play around a bit with ActiveResource for consuming a web
service. Does anyone have sample code they would be willing to share?
I''ve googled all around and have come up empty except for simple (non-
working) examples given in the RailsConf keynote and some associated
blog entries.
Thanks!

button_to_function question
Hey everybody,
I am trying to create a button that, when clicked on, calls a method
in a controller then changes the image on the button without a page
load. I was thinking that button_to_function might be a good
contender for this but I don''t yet know how to make it talk to a
controller, and on success change the image of the button. Can anyone
help me out with this problem?
Thanks,

Can we use ActiveResource yet?
I need to split some information up between two servers, and wanted to
use REST for it. I can write the REST server really easily...but I
don''t know how I can actually use it. I downloaded Rails trunk to
mess with ActiveResource, but it seems that it doesn''t have create
functionality enabled yet.
Is it possible to use AR fully? If not, what''s the best way to

[OT] RailsConf Tickets ?
Just in case -- if anybody has got a spare ticket for RailsConf, i''d
be very happy to buy it... I live in Chicago, so i can do this on
very short notice as well, should anybody not be able to attend... :)
Otherwise - this being Chicago - no question there''ll be scalpers... :)
Thanks,
Sebastian

any metadata stream documentation at all?
Hi--
Is there any documentation at all on how to use metadata streams? In
particular, I'm wondering if it's possible to have a metadata stream
which is synchronized with an audio stream (e.g., a slide show).
thanks,

[REL] Manage Fixtures 2.0.0
Just released a new version of the _Managed Fixtures_ plugin, previously
known as _Export Fixtures_.
The name change comes with some added functionality for managing the
fixtures, primarily with two new import tasks for importing specific Models
or all of them within the test/fixtures directory.
Both new import tasks take the exported fixtures, and allow you to directly
import one, or all of

CampingConf?
Campers --
In a few weeks there will be a bunch of people in Portland, OR, for a
conference. A long time ago some campers mentioned that might be a
good time for us to get together and hold a mini CampingConf for a few
hours. Is anyone interested? Does anyone want to organize it?
I''m thinking Wednesday night, May 16.
We could possibly get a spot at FreeGeek (not likely since they are

Preview of Latest Mocha Changes
I''ve finally managed to find some time to do some serious work on
Mocha. There are some code snippets on my blog
(http://blog.floehopper.org/articles/2007/04/12/preview-of-latest-mocha-changes)
showing the new functionality available in trunk (revision 128). I
don''t don''t know how many people out there are using trunk, but it
would be great to get some feedback on these

validates_uniqueness_of question
Given three models: a design model, a votes model, and a users model
the problem is a user can only vote for a design once.
If I do a validates_uniqueness_of :user in the votes model that means
a user can only vote once, period. What I want is to say a user can
only vote for a single design once. Anyone know the best way to do
this? Thanks.

New e-book - The Money Train
While talking about my RailsConf presentation with Ben Wiseley, he
suggested writing a book on the same topic... so I did! The Money
Train is an e-book about building e-commerce sites using Ruby on Rails.
Read my blog entry about it at http://www.bencurtis.com/archives/
