Proxy Server Routing - One last try
Objective:
All web traffic originating from my proxy server should be forwarded
through interface eth2 instead of the default eth0. The reply should
take the same path back to the proxy server.
Problem:
On the return bout, the kernel doesn''t pass the packet to the higher
layers. The reply seems to be getting tossed away between PREROUTING and
INPUT Netfilter chains.

[PATCH] IMQ vs. local traffic
Hello,
Some time ago I''ve read somewhere that local traffic in IMQ
could hung up the whole system but it was corrected long time
ago. So I was very surprised yesterday when it occurred not true.
While testing IMQ I''ve observed for some time that - if you tag
some local traffic with iptables both in pre- and postrouting -
kernel is hunging up. It is happening quite quick with

Public Router using Private Links
I am running a public core router using private links from my provider.
Details:
RH7.3
9 interfaces (all Intel)
eth0 is default gateway and has a private IP address
all other interfaces are links to other routers or networks
eth3 has a public IP address
The core router will rarely need to access sites out on the internet, but when it does it cannot get there because the eth0 has a private IP

imq contact
Hi there,
I''m trying to contact imq maintainers but there is no contact address in
www.linuximq.net. There is only a yahoo group but I don''t have a yahoo
account and it seems it doesn''t like me a lot (it refused to create a new
account).
Anyone knows an email address for any IMQ developer? Its about an IMQ patch
submission.

IMQ slows computer to a crawl
I am attempting to implement IMQ on a 2.4.31 version kernel with
iptables 1.3.3.
I am following the example at http://www.linuximq.net/usage.html. When
I enter the line
iptables -t mangle -A POSTROUTING -o eth1 -j IMQ --todev1
(eth1 is the external interface), the computer slows to a crawl. OK,
the CPU is only an AMD K6 233 which is not the world''s greatest CPU, but

IMQ: why do I need IMQ ?
Hello there,
Can someone please explain why do one neeed IMQ ?
I can already shape incoming traffic on my nat router by creating
qdiscs on LAN-side interface. I have done some tests, whith simple
bandwidth limmiting, and it works.
I''ve read just about all the stuff on www.linuximq.net ... but
couldn''t make myself an ideea on why would someone need IMQ for
ingress policing ...

Packet marking for ingress shapping and NET
Hi,
I have typical situation, local LAN with private addresses, translated
via NAT to internet. I need to shape ingress traffic (from internet to
local LAN) in several HTB queues accorting to destination (private not
public) IP. So I need mark packets to divide them to corresponding
queue. According to http://www.docum.org/stef.coene/qos/kptd/ I thing I
have only one way how to do it, because

Can the mailing list archive be searched?
It says the list has been "picked up" by google, but I can''t find any

returned these groups;

fr.comp.os.linux.configuration

Little problem with IMQ
When I try to put all incoming traffic to IMQ on PREROUTING I can''t discern
traffic to LAN and traffic to server.
When I try to put only INPUT traffic to IMQ... I can''t discern traffic from
LAN and from internet.
Help me plizz to put all incoming traffic to one IMQ device and all
outcoming to other IMQ device and (it''s very important) discern traffic to
clients and

imq config
Dear all,
I know this is not imq mailing list. But many of the users over here
have done exactly what i want.
Requirement:- I want to tight bound eth1 for 100 kbps
but after i want to create many classes of 64 kbps or 50 kbps and
others. But the total sum of classes is more than 100 kbps so my eth1 is
not restrciting total bandwidth at 100kbps.
According to search on google imq is the solution.

XML for tc hierarchy representation
Hi list, I would like to know about any proposed XML representation for
tc objects hierarchy. I found something at "LTCM, a Linux QoS API
Library" (http://artemis.av.it.pt/~ltcmmm/) that looks like a start, but
any others are welcome.
I''m starting a project to automatically syncronize traffic shape rules
between servers and thought XML is the best way to represent tc

Confuse, putting packets in wrong mangle table.
Folks,
I am a little bit confuse in how to put these packets into correct mangle
table for traffic shaping.
This is what i ve planned to do:
- - - - :eth0 [ LINUX-BOX ] eth1: - - - -
Let say:
eth0: 220.100.1.1
eth1: 192.168.1.1
eth1:1 192.168.1.2
192.168.1.0/24 get natted into 220.100.1.1 before reaching the internet.
I put every packets coming from internet (eth0) this way:
# iptables -t

ingress policing based on source address?
Hi all
I''m new to this list, but not exactly to iproute stuff.
I''d like to solve a specific problem with bandwidth coming from
different external sources towards the internal network (also the other
way around, but I figure that''s not so much a problem, since that is
egress traffic shaping).
The network looks like this:
internet ------ ISP-------[shaping/router]

IMQ + natin PREROUTING - it is almost 2 years since patch....
Hello there!
I was reading this archive:
http://mailman.ds9a.nl/pipermail/lartc/2002q3/004725.html
It was almost two years ago when Patrick wrote a patch to switch IMQ
with nat in PREROUTING chain...
From www.linuximq.org I''ve downloaded newset IMQ driver for 2.4.26 and
what can i see? The line that Patrick changed in that patch is still as
it was in previous relases.
Are there

patching kernel and iptables for IMQ
I have a linux box with kernel 2.4.22 and iptables 1.2.9
First, i patch linux kernel with Norbet Buckmuller''s .diff
#cd \usr\src\linux
#patch -p1 < imq-combo-debian-2.4.22.diff
All correct
Second, i -try to- patch iptables (following www.linuximq.net/faq.html)
#cd /usr/src/linux/net/ipv4/netfilter
I edit IMQ.pom-ng.patch and replace $KERNEL_DIR with /usr/src/linux
