gateway failover with linux
Hi. I''m wondering if there''s a good way to configure a Linux firewall box to failover to a single backup server, while preserving connection state. This question has been asked before, but the latest reference I can find is from 2004, at which time Linux had no equivalent of OpenBSD''s pfsync, though Harald was said to be working on one. Did anything come of those

Centos box and Cisco 3750 VLAN's
Hello all, I have a CentOS box that has a NIC (eth0) on which I defined 4 VLAN's (counting the NIC itself): eth0, eth0.1, eth0.2 and eht0.3. Initially the Cisco switch was not partitioned into VLAN's which means that the only VLAN running on it was the default one (VLAN 1). I have then played with VLAN's a bit on the switch and at this point have two: VLAN 1 (which is default and can

failover with conntrackd
Hi. Is anyone using conntrack-tools to implement gateway failover on a network with windows clients? I set it up with ucarp and keepalived, and found that gratuitous ARP doesn''t always seem to update the cache on Windows machines. It works the first time, but if a second failover happens, the client continues to send stuff to the wrong MAC address. Linux machines work fine.

kernel panic with ext3 and cbq
Hello, I'm usign Kernel 2.2.19 with ext3 0.0.7b patches. I'm also using cbq to control bandwidth. The cbq is correctly creating the classes and queueing disciplines but, whenever I call cbq stop I get a kernel panic: > Aiee, killing interrupt handler > Kernel panic: Attempted to kill idle task! > In interrupt handler - not syncing The exact line in cbq script that is

What failover solution for advanced router ?
Hello, Could someone experienced suggest good solution for failover advanced router ? The router for which I need redundancy is quite complex: 1) has 5 interfaces 2) uses the same network and the other network IP aliases on some interfaces 3) uses bunch of policy routing rules 4) uses proxyarp feature on some interfaces 5) uses complex iptables setup [propably not important in this

troubleshooting echo on speakerphone
Hello all, I'm looking to troubleshoot some echo issues and possibly "studdering" while using the speakerphone with the Intellitouch ITC3002. On the hardware end, i have a 2621 setup as the router with some policy maps for qos, and a 2900XL with cos priority set to 5. I have setup created 2 vlans currently (really small office), 1 for corp/data, and 2 voice vlan. Asterisk is on

High-Availability shorewall
Hi all! I think I remember there have discussion on this topic on this mailinglist a while ago. But the archives don''t find anything. Did anyone here set up a configuration with shorewall and heartbeat or vrrpd or ucarp? What would you prefer? Any experiences with failover times, setup problems etc? Good documentation on this? Thanks, Christian -- you don''t need eyes to see

Re: [Nemo-devel] nuts status page
Adam: Thanks for putting up this page. But something is wrong. In particular, our Powerware 9135 is a three phase UPS system with THREE 480 volt outputs. So the displayed voltage is not correct -- in fact there should really be THREE voltages displayed, all around 480v. Nut developers: I am copying the NUT mailing list to see if anyone can suggest how to fix this. NUT developers, see the

Using Akima with nearly-gridded data
I am using the Akima interpolation package to generate an interpolated color contour plot. It is working very well, except for one problem. The data that I have represents real-time readings from a thermistor string vs. time, so the data points are often very nearly in a rectangular array, since the thermistors are read at regular time intervals and they are equally spaced physically.

Help! VLAN tagged traffic not shaping :-(
Hello, I have a linux box sitting between (and bridging/firewalling) 2 LAN segments. I''m using Bridge/Netfilter/IMQ/tc(htb) to control (shape) mail/web traffic that traverses the 2 networks. The networks also have some VLAN tagged traffic flying around. My linux box behaves OK with VLAN traffic except that the shaping doesn''t seem to work. Normal http shapes alright but as soon

simple tbf rate clamping issues
Hello, I was attempting to throttle egress traffic to a specific rate using a tbf. As a starting point I used an example from the LARTC howto, which goes: tc qdisc add dev eth1 root tbf rate 220kbit latency 50ms burst 1540 I then attempt a large fetch from another machine via wget (~40 megs) and the rate was clamped down to about 12Kbytes/s. As this seemed too much, I gradually increased

Vlan classify
Hi; I was wondering about splitting my Ethernet in different Vlan. But is there any functionality in iptables, or any other tools, witch I can use to match a specific Vlan? I was thinking about marking this packet and then classify it to a appropriate queue. Another question is: How many packages can a ordinary pfifo queue hold?? Say, packets that are used are full Ethernet frame.

lc shaping in- and outbound traffic on same box
I''m looking for a way to shape all traffic on a virtual vlan interface, say eth1.100 to a max of 100mbit. The box is a quagga router with eth0 on the inside and vlan interfaces on the eth1 card to our upstream partners. Each partner has his own vlan on eth1. I tried shaping but was only able to shape outbound traffic on the eth1.100 interface. Inbound shaping was also possible, but
