Examples from HTB home page...
... do not work anymore. Anybody with a hint? I''ve got a fully
functional HTB setup and just wanted to replace the kernel from 2.4.17
to 2.4.19. In the end the modified tc binary doesn''t recognize "tc
filter add" (yet it does accept qdisc show and recognizes htb...)
I''ve downloaded the 2.4.19 from kernel.org, iproute2 (2.4.7),
installed the patches

tc filter add ... fw returns RTNETLINK answers: Invalid argument
When I run this:
tc filter add dev eth0 parent 1: protocol ip prio 1 handle 1 fw
I get:
RTNETLINK answers: Invalid argument
The traditional interpretation of that gnarly error message is that
cls_fw is missing, but lsmod | grep cls_fw gets me:
cls_fw 2336 4 (autoclean)
I can''t remove it because it''s in use, but all 4 statements that use it
failed, so

I wan''t to delete the shaping for ''10.0.0.0/30'' on the fly while still

FW filter unused/unloaded ???
Hi all.
I''ve written a small htb script that uses U32 and FW (marked by IPTABLES) filters, but TC doesn''t seem to be using the "cls_fw.o" module !!!
I''m using redhat v9.0, kernel 2.4.8-20, iproute 2.4.7-7.
Here is my script:

Filter problem

I want to share my bandwidth between 10 computers. I want to redirect
computer A(192.168.1.4) to htb class 1:2 and the others to htb class 1:3.
But the
last tc filter doesn''t work :
Error message : "Unknown filter "flowid", hence option "1:3" is unparsable.

Problems after Kernel upgrade to 2.6.10
Greetings,
I have been reading the list for a little while now, but this is the first
occasion I have had to post--of course, because of a problem. My problems
began when I upgraded my RedHat 9 system to 2.6.10 from source. Aside from
some other booting issues and things, all of which appear to be resolved,
the only things NOT working are my scripts for traffic control. I get a
whole host of

Dreaded RTNETLINK answers: Invalid argument
Hi All,
We are running a 2.4.20 kernel, with the htb modules loaded, and are
receiving the RTNETLINK error when trying to filter on handles. We also
have the latest tc downloaded from htb site, and verified it is the
executable being executed. We have tracked it to the {handle 1 fw}
portion.
Hardware is 4501 Soekris and WISP-Dist latest, patched with latest tc.
Any ideas on what would cause

tc and iptables trouble
Hi all
I have a trouble configuring the qdiscs, when I indicate the "perturb 10" option to tc, i gives me this error:
tc qdisc add dev eth0 parent 5:1323 handle 1323 sfq perturb 10
RTNETLINK answers: Invalid argument
if I don''t put the "perturb 10" option, it works.
another question is about iptables, when I indicate the " --set-mark" option:
iptables -t

I want to limit bandwidth for the 192.168.0.0/16 subnet using this script.
tc qdisc del dev eth0 root

Problem attaching htb class to a htb qdisc
I''m trying to build a QoS system that would divide the outgoing traffic
into four categories, each one also subdivided into two more categories.
For that I chose a htb root qdisc subdivided into four classes, each of
these classes contains also a htb qdisc. Until these point everything
goes well, but when I try to attach a new class to the leaf htb qdisc a

QoS and CLASSIFY
Hi Guys
After googling a little I couldn''t find the correct answer..
When I use :
tc filter add dev eth0 parent 1:0 protocol ip prio 1 u32 match ip dst
192.168.0.11 flowid 1:30 , I can shape traffic to 1:30.( works like a
charm)
Now instead tc filter I would like to use CLASSIFY as below:
iptables -t mangle -A POSTROUTING -o eth0 -d 192.168.0.5 -j CLASSIFY
--set-class 1:30
but when I

Shaping incoming VoIP traffic fails
Hello,
I''m trying to get lossless VoIP traffic over my 3000k/500k ADSL line. Shaping
outgoing traffic is no problem: I set total ceil for outgiong device (ppp0)
to 450kbit and put VoIP into highest prio class. Even during full upload the
voice is clean on the other end.
Now I tried to get the same result for incoming data. I attached HTB to eth1
