ipac/iptables + mrtg accounting
i''ve installed mrtg to make graphics of the trafic from the interfece throw the snmpd, and the same with ipac witch put iptables accounting rules colect them and store, and gets the output, but the "problem" is that ipac graphics are 3 times smaller that the snmpd. Why??? i did catch all the trafic with ipac so no problem here, and i know that ipac/iptables is at level 3, and

A small question (bandwith monitoring)
Hi, I''m configured a home router with Shorewall. It took me a while as I''m quite a newbie to Linux, but now it''s working fine. I would like to install some bandwith-monitoring so I know how much traffic is generated. I found a tool for it called ipac-ng. It uses iptables and here is where I''m in trouble. I afraid that it will conflict with shorewall. Does

Busy message on ISDN cards?
Hi all, I'm new to asterisk and not too knowledgeable on ISDN, so please be gentle :) I have a dual-channel Eicon Diehl Diva card in a Debian Woody box with kernel 2.4.27, connecting to a Telstra (Australia) Onramp Home Highway ISDN line. I'm pretty certain the card and line both work since they've been used in this machine for PPP before this (but with an older kernel with DoV

how to count the network flow of samba in linux server
Hi,everyone I have a storage server to provide samba service. Now I want to count total network flow which through samba . I tried ipac-ng which use iptables to count. But the port in the server is ranged when a client connect to it. so I first need to get the port and then add iptables rule in real time when a new client connect the server. if so,the iptables rules become much, and when a packet

Tracking Traffic By Port or Process?
Does anyone know of a way to track TCP/IP traffic by TCP/UDP port and/or by process/daemon with CentOS? I know a variety of ways to track it in total (e.g., ifInOctets & ifOutOctets with SNMP), but I'm not sure how to be approach seeing traffic by application, port, or process. One option would be to write something that would sift through different stuff for each daemon (for example,

Implementing Silverman's Negative Reflection
Hi! I'm trying to implement in R in an easy way the negative reflection method described in Silverman (1986) on p.31, ie I have a non-negative dataset and would like to estimate the density by applying a reflection method where the reflected points have weight -1. I thought there should be a way to evaluate the wanted kernel at the required points, in other words to calculate formula (2.16):

Random ping jumps

command line bandwidth
Hey I was just curious if anyone knew of any scripts or command line programs that are out there that could be used to check bandwidth on a network. -- Andrew Rice Jr

Does anyone use pmacct?
Hi all, I've been advised to use pmacct on a CentOS server, in order to keep track of network traffic used by the XEN domU's / VPS' / VM's on the server. I don't see a .rpm on their website so I don't know if it's safe to install the tarball. I also don't see an rpm in the dag wiers repository. Has anyone installed it on CentOS before? And if so, did you run into

Fair queueing: SFQ vs TBF
Hello, I have one Q. What is better when using as leaf in one leaf with several hosts (like subnet) to splice traffic equaly to user number? Like 2 users = 256/2, 3 = 256/3 and so on. WRR was pretty good for this job, but it''s only for 2.4.21 kernels and mine''s 2.4.22. So what is better: SFQ or TBF? -- Artūras Šlajus _______________________________________________

IP traffic accounting and shorewall
Hi, I need a suggestion about how to set up a shorewall configuration so that I can log the traffic size being downloaded through a shorewall dedicated box. I need to log time, source IP, size of the transfer, protocol(s) and ports, destination IP (looking from inside the LAN, I mean :-) Whenever possible, I''d like to resolve the source IP with our existing internal DNS, so that I

monitoring hosts from my lan
Hi, there is a way to graph host''s traffic from my lan ? I''ve a linux router (2.4.x kernel), and a lan: linux router : 192.168.1.254 host 1: 192.168.1.1 host 2: 192.168.1.2 host 3: 192.168.1.3 I''m looking for a way to graph traffic ( in / out ) from each 3 hosts, and store total traffic on a mysql table, in order to make statistics later. I think I can do with Mrtg,

usb interface support
Dear wine user group I removed the whole installation under the root path and reinstalled the application to the user directory -thanks to mr. vitamin. But the effect is the same - the usb interface has not be enabled although the driver works correctly, see jstest /dev/input/js0 -> Driver version is 2.1.0. Joystick (IPACS Ikarus Gamecommander) has 7 axes (X, Y, Z, Rx, Ry, Rz, Throttle) and

WRR and Monitoring/Graphing usage
Hi All, I''ve just installed WRR and am looking at tools to monitor, graph and display the system and throughput of each queue/class/filter. I''ve looked at: iptraf - only shows tcp/udp flows, not QOS queue throughputs show.pl - doesnt work with WRR (as far as I can tell) tc-graph.pl - doesnt work with WRR (as far as I can tell) polltc_ - doesnt work with WRR (as far as I can

Strange httpd problem
Hi, I'm currently setting up an IP accouting machine using CentOS 6 and pmacct, compiled from source. The machine has two network interfaces : - a "normal" one, used for SSH remote administration and viewing the accouting data through a webserver (eth0) - a "monitor" one, plugged into a mirroring port of our switch and with no IP address defined (eth1) The accouting

Traffic monitoring/ip acct of SSH sessions
Hi guys, I am looking for an IP accounting solution which will allow me to monitor how much traffic is used per ssh session, ie, scp, sftp, the shell itself, etc etc. Is there something similar to rssh that may work in this manner ? I know there exists kernel patches for user level IPAC, though I am using virtual users (ie, NSS stuff without /etc/passwd entries), and I don't see anyway
