multiple links and nat
Hi, this might be a dumb question, but I''m not finding much information online. I''m trying to setup a 2.6 linux box to run nat across multiple upstream links as a simple way to aggregate bandwidth. I found the instructions in lartc section 4.2 (http://lartc.org/howto/lartc.rpdb.multiple-links.html) fairly clear and straightforward. I implemented those, and a couple of trivial

Hardware solution? (or v.easy software fix instead)
I''m moving to a new place and my new flatmate wants a router because he likes the cleaness of it all in a non geeky way which I can understand. This means it''s going to be hard for me to pursude him to let me run a computer as a router to act as bandwidth cop. But I don''t fancy trying to use ssh, VNC and games while he''s using WindowsUpdate or p2p. So I need

Bandwith Aggregation
I am working on my Diploma Thesis on Computer Science Engineering. The main idea behind of my work is to make it possible to have a Linux box combining multiple ISP/network connections together providing a single connection with an aggregated bandwith. I have been surfing the Internet and I haven''t found anything like that running on Linux. I would like to implement it using iproute 2

Multihop route - TCP connection losses?
Hi! In our students'' hostel we have 6 DSL lines (dialups to different providers); we have set up a linux box (currently running 2.6.11-rc2-mm2, but the problem described hereafter also applies to previous 2.6-series kernels) with help from http://lartc.org/howto/lartc.rpdb.multiple-links.html#AEN298 Our Setup looks like this: 10.0.0.0/8 10.70.255.1 +----------+ +-----------+ |

My provider gave a me a /30 link to their router also they gave me a /25 network for my customers public ip''s Their cisco router has static route entrys for my

RE: Fwd: Several IP''s, one mail and http server
You want multiple IP Addresses for email if you are hosting more than one domain. The reason is, everyone now checks for reverse DNS with email so you need a different public IP Address for each email domain. This way, all the reverse DNS translations will be unique. For apache, you can have multiple websites sharing the same IP Address as long as you don''t do anything with SSL. SSL

[Bridge] Bridging over a bonded interface?
Hi, This may sound crazy but I will go ahead anyway. Here's my scenario: ifconfig bond0 10.10.10.1 netmask 255.0.0.0 ifenslave bond0 eth0 ifenslave bond0 eth1 brctl addbr stp0 brctl addif stp0 bond0 brctl stp stp0 on Is this a valid scenario? I am trying to bond two interfaces and run STP over the bonded interface..The problem I am trying to solve is to run STP over aggregated links

Xen Networking and bonded interfaces on Debia Lenny
Greetings all. This has been an ongoing issue for me for a few months, and I''ve been trying to get an answer. My server has two NICs, and I want to set up the following: NICs (x2) -> bond (mode 5) -> Xen Bridge -> Doms ...however, trying to configure this doesn''t seem to work: network-bridge steals eth0 instead of bond0, which breaks the bond AND my networking. The

How to check an inactive slave in a bond?
I''m using bonding in active-fallback mode to guarantee maximum availability on some critical servers. The mii mode is active so I can detect things like dead card and/or unplugged cable even on the inactive slave. But how do I check that the inactive slave is properly configured/connected to the switch/vlan? I ask this question because it has just bitten me in a part I''ll keep

CentOS 5.7 Ethernet bonding - order of enslavement matters?
Setting up bonding in active-backup mode 1 (using ARP monitoring) on a server, it looked OK, but pulling the active link cable didn't actually work, it didn't fail over. Eventually with manual playing around with modprobe, ifconfig, ifenslave, etc., a solution was stumbled upon: enslave the eth1 device before eth0, and all is good. Why this should matter is a puzzle - I could not find

[Bridge] [RFC PATCH 0/2] Allow full bridge configuration via sysfs
Right now, you can configure most bridge device parameters via sysfs. However, you cannot either: - add or remove bridge interfaces - add or remove physical interfaces from a bridge The attached patch set rectifies this. With this patch set, brctl (theoretically) becomes completely optional, much like ifenslave is now for bonding. (In fact, the idea for this patch, and the syntax used herein, is

String keys in hash
Hi all, My app is going to count sth based on poll id in the url. The url looks like: http://address.com?id=dwNKiItvcyrQ5sycnIhmJablDfXsc9tshaGIVyNIei7.e7&some_other_parameters In a controller, I''ve created a hash where the keys are the ids: @codes = { ''dwNKiItvcyrQ5sycnIhmJablDfXsc9tshaGIVyNIei7.e7'' => {:partner_id => 0,
