anaconda/kickstart: bonding device not created as expected
Hi, I am currently struggling with the right way to configure a bonding device via kickstart (via PXE). I am installing servers which have "eno" network interfaces. Instead of the expected bonding device with two active slaves (bonding mode is balance-alb), I get a bonding device with only one active slave and an independent, non-bonded network device. Also the bonding device

bandwidth aggregation between 2 hosts in the same subnet
Hi, I''m trying to increase the bandwidth between two hosts (backup). Both hosts are in the same /24 subnet and each of them is connected to a Cisco switch by 2 GbE interfaces (intel e1000). The switches/host are located in different building which are connected by 3 x GbE. building A | building B | --------

[Advice] CentOS6 + KVM + bonding + bridging
With the current talk on bonding, I have a few questions of my own. I'm setting up a KVM host with CentOS 6.3 x86_64 on which I'd like to attach the VMs to a bonded interface. My target setup is one where two GigE NICs are bonded and then the KVM bridge interface is attached to the bonded interface. Initially I tried to use the balance-alb mode (mode6), but had little luck (receiving

After a long break, one more try at bond/bridge nics
took a couple months off due to road blocks, hoping a fresh look would allow me to use my server as desired. I have three ports, eth0-2 over two nics. I want to bond them, and then use a bridge to connect to virtual machines on the virtual host computer. Never having done this, I am confused on some parts. Here is where I am at now and any pointers helpful. Single server, centos 6.x My issue

Help needed with NFS issue
I have four NFS servers running on Dell hardware (PE2900) under CentOS 5.7, x86_64. The number of NFS clients is about 170. A few days ago, one of the four, with no apparent changes, stopped responding to NFS requests for two minutes every half an hour (approx). Let's call this "the hang". It has been doing this for four days now. There are no log messages of any kind pertaining

4.5 ALB Bonding Hang on Shutdown
Since I upgraded from 4.4 to 4.5 my system which has 2 sets of ALB bonded interfaces hangs on shutdown while doing an ifdown on these interfaces. Has anyone else seen this issue with 4.5 and bonding? Broadcom NIC Binding under Centos 4.2
Hello all, I'm having unusual difficulty configuring teaming with Centos 4.2. The 2 NIC's are Broadcom. The HW is HP DL360 and there is no teaming driver for RHEL4 since it comes with package (says HP). Since there is no teaming driver from centos (as far as I know), I tried the Broadcom Driver, configured the team file, but the team just wont come up. A Virtual Interface should be up

Teaming vs Bond?
I'm looking at tuning up a new site and the bonding issue came up A google search reveals that the gluster docs (and Lindsay) recommend balance-alb bonding. However, "team"ing came up which I wasn't familiar with. Its already in RH6/7 and Ubuntu and their Github page implies its stable. The libteam.org people seem to feel their solution is more lightweight and it seems easy

No sound device detected on Fallout 3 Launch?
I get a message from the fallout 3 launcher telling me that "no sound device detected. Fallout 3 cannot run". Funny thing is that I'm listening to the background sound of the launcher so I am indeed getting sound. Any ideas on a cure? There should be a fallout.exe along with the falloutlauncher.exe in the program files that could possibly bypass the launcher, would that work and were

Teaming vs Bond?
I haven't done any testing of performance differences, but on my oVirt/rhev i use standard bonding as that's that it supports. On the stand along gluster nodes I use teaming for bonding. Teaming may be slightly easier to manage, but not by much if you are already used to bond setups. I haven't noticed any bugs or issues using teaming. *David Gossage* *Carousel Checks Inc. | System

Teaming vs Bond?
OK, at least its not an *issue* with Gluster. I didn't expect any but you never know. I have been amused at the 'lack' of discussion on Teaming performance found on Google searches. There are lots of 'here it is and here is how to set it up' articles/posts, but no 'ooh-wee-wow it is awesome' comments. It seems that for most people Bonding has worked it kinks out

Bonding mode balance-alb (6): How to control the assigned MAC address?
Hi, we are trying to switch our bonding modes from 1 (active-backup) to 6 (balance-alb). However it seems, that these bond devices are not always getting the MAC address from the same slave. Sometimes the device gets the MAC address of the first and sometimes of the second slave. Since only the MAC address of the first slave device is (can be) registered in DHCP, this breaks connectivity

bonding problem with arp-monitoring
Hello I have two linux machines connected via 2 dsl lines (bonded) 192.168.0.1-eth0-dsl---2Mbit---dsl-eth0-192.168.0.2 ^-eth1-dsl---2Mbit---dsl-eth1-^ so the final figure is something like this: 192.168.0.1-bond0---4Mbit---bond0-192.168.0.2 I can only use arp monitoring for fail checking - if one dsl line fails - automatically use only the other one. I set up everything correctly (i

CentOS 5.7 Ethernet bonding - order of enslavement matters?
Setting up bonding in active-backup mode 1 (using ARP monitoring) on a server, it looked OK, but pulling the active link cable didn't actually work, it didn't fail over. Eventually with manual playing around with modprobe, ifconfig, ifenslave, etc., a solution was stumbled upon: enslave the eth1 device before eth0, and all is good. Why this should matter is a puzzle - I could not find

Warm Transfer in Asterisk
Is there a way do what is sometimes called a 3rd party transfer in Asterisk. That is; Call A comes in and is answered B. B then places A on hold and calls C. After C answers, B&C chat for a moment, then B brings A on line. After making intro's B then drops off call. Basic matrix manipulation problem

Move matrix a: A B C D x 1 2 3 4 y 5 6 7 8 to the mean of B&C and C&D: BC CD x 2.5 3.5 y 6.5 7.5 and then to the mean of B&CB, C&BC, C&CD, and D&CD: AAB BAB

Configure LAGG Interface?
Greetings- I'd like to configure multiple copper NICs on a server running CentOS 6.2 in a LAGG configuration for better throughput to the core switch. After quite a bit of searching, I'm not seeing anything of the sort. Is LAGG specific to the BSD world and the HP switches I'm running? Or, does it go by a different name? Bonding perhaps? If so, is bonding compatible with LAGG? --Tim

How to check an inactive slave in a bond?
I''m using bonding in active-fallback mode to guarantee maximum availability on some critical servers. The mii mode is active so I can detect things like dead card and/or unplugged cable even on the inactive slave. But how do I check that the inactive slave is properly configured/connected to the switch/vlan? I ask this question because it has just bitten me in a part I''ll keep
