Shirewall and ppp interface
I well, my ISP just worked with me to switch in my new gateway. After the switch and bringing up the ppp interface, the new gateway was access the Internet just fine, but none of systems behind it were. Scratched my head, and after some fumbling, I discovered that it seems like I have to restart shorewall after ppp interface is brought up. So. How do I ensure that shorewall is restarted

shaping on several ppp interfaces
hallo I have the following schema pptpd server, with clients connecting to it and getting access to inside LAN resources; however, there are some roaming clients that have huge files to download and so eating all the bandwidth how can I have the whole x kbps be available on a single ppp interface, if there are none up, and, in reverse, guarantee to all ppp interfaces up at a given time

ppp interfaces for both loc and net
Hi, I''m in a process of setting up a firewall system, which is going to be also an ipsec/l2tp and pptp vpn server for some mobile clients. The problem is, that the system has two ISPs a cable one (no problems here) and a DSL provider. Because of the DSL provider the system is going to have one pppN interface for DSL (net zone) and many pppX interfaces for l2tp/pptp (loc zone)

2.0.6 and interfaces
I tried and failed to get a W98 box to connect via ppp and become part of the network. In the course of debugging this I found what appears to be a weakness in the "interfaces" handling. Testing with : nmblookup -d 2 '*' and using different "interfaces" lines. The inbound ppp connection is 192.168.3.x. 1. interfaces = 200.01.01.233/29 192.168.3.1/24 added

Winbind problems when mapping shares
I have just installed Samba 2.2.5. I am using Winbind and have changed the following in /etc/nsswitch.conf. passwd: files winbind group: files winbind I successfully joined a PDC domain. When I list files, I see that groups are being resolved from winbind. I have userid xtuser defined to Linux. I see the following: ibm9672:/home # getent passwd | grep xtuser xtuser:x:11240:11763:test

Limiting Bandwidth of an ppp interfaces
Hi everyone. I''m working on a problem since some days. I have a linux router with about 100 ppp interfaces. Each interface should bei limited to an individual bandwidth of 1024kbit, 2048kbit or 3096kbit. Up AND downstream. (let''s say for example 1024kbit upstream and 1024kbit downstream) The reason for this problem: I have to limit users to their booked bandwidth, because

Bug#703586: Bug#703586: Xen fails to boot Linux dom0 under UEFI
I?ll explain what?s happening first, and list the steps after that. First: pep is short for the Xen target x86_64-pep. It?s a target you can enable when configuring Xen to create an EFI binary. What is happening with Xen on UEFI via Grub is that it doesn?t give the kernel any info on the ACPI root pointer. Basically, this means that Linux won?t be able to do ACPI, and therefore a ton of hardware

removing specified length of text after a period in dataframe of char's
Dear all, I'm trying to remove some text after the period (a decimal point) in the data frame 'hi', below. This is one step in formatting a table. So I would like e.g. "2.0" to become "2" and "5.3" to be "5.3", where the variable digordered contains the number of digits after the decimal that I would like to display, in the same order in which

[LLVMdev] GSoC 2012 Proposal: Python bindings for LLVM
Hello all, Here is my GSoC 2012 proposal: Python bindings for LLVM. Any feedback are welcome! *Title: Python bindings for LLVM* *Abstract: * llvm-py provides Python bindings for LLVM. The latest llvm-py supports bindings with Python 2.x version for LLVM 2.x. This project is to improve llvm-py to make it compatible with both Python 2.x and Python 3 for LLVM 3. *Motivation* LLVM is used as a

Shaping over multiple outgoing interfaces
Hi, I''ve a router configuration with a dsl connection and two ethernet NICs. How can I control the traffic of the dsl connection when then destination of the traffic can go out of the router using two diferent interfaces? ppp -- router --- lan | DMZ I''ve read that the solution could be IMQ, but i prefer to not to patch kernel and iptables. pppoe and /etc/shorewall/interfaces
I am a newbie to linux and shorewall. I am reading the shoreall quickstart guides. I am a bit confused about the following statement: ----------- quote -------------- The firewall has two network interfaces. Where Internet connectivity is through a cable or DSL "Modem", the External Interface will be the ethernet adapter that is connected to that "Modem" (e.g., eth0) unless you

Google's R Style Guide
Perhaps most of you have already seen this? http://google-styleguide.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/google-r-style.html Comments/Critiques? Thanks, Esmail ps: Reminds me of PEP 8 for Python http://www.python.org/dev/peps/pep-0008/ Maybe not that surprising since Python is also one of the main languages used by Google.

Bug#703586: Bug#703586: Xen fails to boot Linux dom0 under UEFI
As an addition to anyone having issues with booting but only getting 1 CPU and a ton of devices that misbehave, check to see if you have an RSDP in Xen and Linux. You should have both (I use xl and not xm): sudo xl dmesg | grep RSDP (XEN) ACPI: RSDP DDA4A000, 0024 (r2 SUPERM) and sudo dmesg | grep RSDP [ 0.000000] ACPI: RSDP 00000000000f0010 000024 (v02 SUPERM) I?m running this on a

I''ve tooken a look into the IFNAME env var... but it doesn''t seems to work :c/ regards, -- BeTa
