CentOS 5 grub boot problem
- Ahh OK now I see why I was confused. The originally posted partition map uses cylinders as units, not LBA. I missed that. Cylinder 1 is the same as LBA 63. And that is sufficiently large for a GRUB legacy stage 2. - OK this is screwy. Partitions 1 and 3 on both drives have the same number of sectors, but partitions 2 differ: /dev/hde2 401,625 975,691,709 975,290,085 fd Linux

CentOS 5 grub boot problem
I am trying to upgrade my system from 500GB drives to 1TB. I was able to partition and sync the raid devices, but I cannot get the new drive to boot. This is an old system with only IDE ports. There is an added Highpoint raid card which is used only for the two extra IDE ports. I have upgraded it with a 1TB SATA drive and an IDE-SATA adapter. I did not have any problems with the system

CentOS 5 grub boot problem
Please, download this. http://sourceforge.net/projects/bootinfoscript/ Run it: http://bootinfoscript.sourceforge.net/ Post a URL to the resulting file somewhere. I suggest having the entire computer assembled as it should be in normal use, rather than simulating device failure by removing a device. --- Chris Murphy

performing function on lists where each element is a data frame
I have browsed the archive, and played around with a whole bunch of ways of approaching the problem, and I cannot get the answer that I want. I have a list with 2000 elements. Each element is a data frame with 2 columns. As an example, see element 1999 below. [[1999]] H N 6 0.54 26 10 0.31 13 11 0.12 34 13 0.00 38 4 0.59 37 16 0.44 9 19 0.08 13 14 0.64 39 8

Ext3 fatal errors with Promise RAID
Today our server had seriuos problems, we had to reinitiate it and run fsck manually. Dou you think it's an ext3, kernel (vanilla 2.4.19) or hardware bug? Any idea when we will have updated kmod-drbd82 rpm for the latest kernel?
Hi, After searching the archive I found one post (last october) complaining about lack of kmod-drbd2 rpm for the lastest kernels. Almost two months have passed and no sign of the rpm I was wondering if the mantainer has some news about it. Thanks. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Updates not catching up ?
Hi, I have downloaded and installed centos 4.1 from DVD and I a little confused with the update procedure. The faq from the centos.org site mentions something like 72 hrs (or less) from one security update to goes from the sources.rpm from rh to centos. I was cheking rh's site (https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/rhel4as-errata.html) and saw one update to mysql

Not able to run kernel-xen with megasr module :/
I've managed to install CentOS 5.1 on S5000PAL with fakeraid Intel Embedded Raid Technology II Raid1 (LSI chipset) with some help of kickstart declaration 'driverdisk --source=http://.../driver.img' Then I've had some problems with yum update - new kernel didn't know about megasr.ko. I've solved it with commands: cd /lib/modules/ cp 2.6.18-53.el5PAE/updates/megasr.ko

PHP 5.2.x rpm for Centos 5? (any news)
I've searched the archives and found a post last march about a rpm version of php for centos. Any news about it? Is it still in testing? Any known issues? Where do I get it? Stage2.img
I've got a RAID card (3ware 9650SE-2LP) that wasn't supported by the in-kernel driver until 2.6.19+ Since CentOS 5.0 is based on 2.6.18-8.el5 is was looking for a way to incorporate their driver from the website so I wouldn't have to use the "linux dd" kernel option all the time. (trying to automate as much as possible using kickstart, scripts, etc). Through reading about

How to simulate minimal ISO install using stage2 image file?
Hello, I'm working on a project which automates creation of EC2 AMI images. To do this, you must use a running EC2 instance to mount an image file in a chroot jail. My problem is that I want to create an AMI that looks exactly like a minimal (nothing selected) install from the CentOS ISO image, but the "stage2" image [1] file is much more "minimal" than that. e.g., it

[PATCH] chain.c32: pass partition number to stage2 of Grub Legacy
Grub Legacy stage2 will read the install_partition variable from memory address 0x8208. We only need to change the value at 0x820a to the correct partition number: -1: whole drive (default) 0-3: primary partitions 4-*: logical partitions Signed-off-by: Gert Hulselmans <gerth at zytor.com> --- com32/modules/chain.c | 13 ++++++++----- 1 files changed, 8 insertions(+), 5

[PATCH] chain.c32: add support for loading GRUB stage2
This adds (basic) support for GRUB stage2 image files. Loading a stage2 image will probably give you a GRUB prompt, with GRUB's "root" set at "(hd0)" (ie, entire first disk). Maybe the "root" will differ in less common setups. (One can of course select another disk and/or partition with GRUB's "root" command.) This has only been tested with version

Centos 5.5, not booting latest kernel but older one instead
I've been going along not noticing things happening right under my nose. so imagine my surprise when I discovered last night that my Centos 5 box has installed multiple new kernels over the last few months, as updates come out, and IT IS NOT BOOTING THE NEWST ONE. grub.conf says to boot kernel 0, and 0 is the newest one. but the one it actually boots is 6 or 8 down the list (clearly I've
