FW: LARTC Chapter 4.2, variation on a theme.
Hi,
I''m building a network similar to that seen in 4.2 of the LARTC Howto.
There is a diagram of this attached to this mail.
Addendum to diagram:

eth0 = dhcpcd
DaveRouter br0 = 192.168.58.2

But we''ve run into some problems when actually implementing the routing
for multiple uplinks.

smbclient segfault with mulicast DNS (mdns) enabled
Hello list,
Using Samba-3.0.21c (with these USE flags: cups doc postgres python xml
xml2) as a standalone server on Gentoo Linux in a small LAN.
I noticed the following: when using mutlicast DNS (mdns, for example to
make use of zeroconf [1] in a network with Macs and Linux and Windows
machines) with a resolver like Apple's mDNSResponder, avahi [3] or a
client like nss-mdns [2] one has

Libnss-mdns problem
Hi there!
I've got a problem with running wine under Debian.
When i try to start a download following comes :

It appears that libnss-mdns is installed on your system,
but lib32nss-mdns is not. Please note that Wine will not be

avahi and mDNS
Trying to figure out how to make it work. Seems as though it should be
pretty easy.

/etc/nsswitch.conf altered line so it reads,

restarted avahi-daemon service

Point a Digium phone to a configuration URL using mDNS without DPMA or DHCP option 66
I have the following scenario. A small network has DHCP but does not publish option 66. An Asterisk server is on the network, but the Asterisk version does not support DPMA and it is hard to switch the version. However, there is a possibility to have a web
server and an mDNS (Avahi) server. I have been reading about provisioning Digium phones without DPMA, and it mentions that option 66 can

Shared namespaces - solved
Heh heh heh. Whoops.
I've spent a few hours digging around in the source and nearly posted a kludge of a patch I'd written to give a kind of half-baked attempt at getting group-usable subscriptions files. Then I came across something in the source........
In the config file, do something like the following:
namespace public {
separator = /
prefix = Public/
location =

Multicast DNS required?
Hello,
I noticed all my DC's have port 5353 closed. I'm using the internal
DNS and wasn't sure if multicast DNS must be enabled? I do not appear to
be having any DNS issues. My only concern is with the wiki on Multicast DNS.
"By default, mDNS only and exclusively resolves host names ending with
the |.local| top-level domain (TLD). This can cause problems if that

Realtime semi-colon
Hi list,
Does anyone know how to send * a semi-colon from a realtime database. I
know that * uses the semi-colon as a 'seperator' - but I need to be able
to use one in a command. I know I can use \; in the non-realtime
configs, but this doesn't work in realtime.
Cheers,

Advertising Samba shares on the local network via mDNS
Hello All,
I would like to add support for advertising Samba shares (browseable ones)
on the local network using Multicast DNS. Multicast DNS allows applications
to query/publish network services on the local link. I would appreciate if
you
could all please share your thoughts on whether such support would be
welcome in Samba. If you know of existing efforts in Samba to include
such support

MOH and parking
I know that the 'fix' has just been applied
(https://issues.asterisk.org/view.php?id=18262) - but why does it stop
the moh only to start it again? This, also, seems to cause a CDR
problem (see below).

stack

queue moh
Hi All,
Sorry if this has been covered already, but I don't tend to follow this
list as close as I should these days.
Problem is that if a call comes in to a queue without option 'r'
specified - moh plays as expected. Now, when that call is answered, all
is fine. Trouble comes when that person then puts the caller on-hold.
No moh is heard by the caller (in fact, they get silence).

Upgrade from 1.4 to 1.6 : problems with realtimemysql
This is a problem with extconfig.conf - not your res_ or cdr_ ones.
In your case - extconfig.conf probably contained something like
'sippeers => mysql,MyDBase, sippeers'. The 'problem' is that the middle
parameter is no longer for the database name - it is for the context in
res_mysql.conf. So, the above now becomes 'sippeers =>
mysql,general,sippeers'. Give that a

Per-user "Seen" flags with shared namespace stored as maildir?
Hi all,
I was wondering if the above was possible. I know that the "seen" flag is stored in the filename, but was wondering if anyone knew of a way to separate it out? I know this would strictly-speaking break maildir compatibility, but it would be extremely useful for shared folders.
I've been given the task of replacing the (extremely heavily used) shared folders functionality

difference between version 3.x and version 4
Hi,
Actually I am working on a project in which we are migrating from 3.x to 4, so
Please tell me the difference in versions and also give me information that how we can use active directory of 4.0 effectively as we are having CIFS and Kerberos feature in 3.x,
And how this active directory can be helpful in our implementation.
And I am also having a question as we are using 3.x so only because of
