lsm configuration issues...
Hi, I use shorewall-4.5.4 + lsm-0.143 and it does not seem to work as expected... When all providers are up, everything seems fine. When one goes down, lsm says "link <provider> down event"... and it seems ok but we then experience some problems such as a few unreachable sites, DNS problems... If I remove the downed provider from all confs and restart, everything works again.

Netopia SDSL modem w/ IAX2 calls...
Has anybody experienced problems with a DSL modem stopping all other traffic when an IAX channel opens up? I've really traced this thing out as best I can - it isn't a lack of bandwidth on the DSL connection (I've had three concurrent Ulaw calls coming in at once with no problems), nor a problem within the network (other intranetwork traffic isn't affected by the call) - the

IAX2 trunking scalability
Hi List, I have a 2Mbps SDSL link which gets saturated during peak time because about I have about 3 E1 worth of g729 traffic going thru. So I'm planning to use IAX2 trunking to reduce bandwith requirement and squeeze out each and every bit of this (expensive) bandwith. I've set up two boxes (debian etch), one in a remote data center (which has plenty of bandwith) and one behing

Nearing my wits end....bad switch???
Grasping at straws here...is anyone using a Dell PowerConnect 2224 24-port unmanaged 10/100 switch in a deployment? I have two separate asterisk installations with bad one-way audio where the only common elements left are the Dell switches and Polycom IP-500 phones. Two different ITSPs - one location uses IAX2 to the outside world, the other SIP. Two different bandwidth providers, one SDSL 1.5

Multiple upload links on same eth
Hello.. I have a big problem and It seems I can''t solve it.. Scenario: Linux server , 2 eths (one for Lan (eth0), one for Internet (eth1)). I use NAT for LAN clients.. The internet eth is linked into a switch , along with 6 sdsl modems.. (256 kbit each link - most probably an htb on the other side).. So , I made 6 aliases to my eth1 with ip''s for the DSL connections ..

routing problems with two SDSL-connections
Hello List, in our office we have two independant SDSL-connections. One of them is a flatrate, the other is a dedicated line to our webfarm. The goal is to route all the traffic to the webfarm through the dedicated line and all other traffic through the flatrate. The maschine has three nics: eth0: internal network eth1: webfarm eth2: flatrate Each connection uses its own router. It is possible

12 seat call centre with Asterisk, VoIP only, UK - possible?
Hi, I've had an inquiry for a small UK call centre, mostly outbound calls. I get the impression they are mainly calling 3G mobile phones, monthly phone bill, with calls is approx ?5,000 for several feature lines. How feasible is something like this with asterisk? I guess one big question is which type of circuit to use, ADSL in the UK is only 256kbs upstream, some providers do bonding but

Which SIP transport from France and termination services in the Nederlands
Hi, This question is both technical and business related. I've got a prospective customer in France which belongs to Hotel industry. He has a lot of visitors coming from the Nederlands. I'm studying the opportunity to offer phone services to those visitors. The service I'm thinking about is plain local call termination : hotel guests cost effectively call their relatives in their

bonding of 2 lines
Dear List, Another noob question today! I''ve been using iproute2 for a long time now to manage bandwidth and directing traffic over multiple interfaces based on source routing. I am working on a test-project at the moment, in witch I want to actually bundle (''trunk'') some connections. In the LARTC-manual I found the chapter about TEQL (see chapter 10). The situation

Hi, We're running the rsync 2.4.7 pre-release to backup a number of servers to a central backup server, all running Linux 2.2.17 kernel. We moved up to 2.4.7, hoping it would fix the 'unexpected EOF' errors which we were getting everytime we'd run more than a handful of rsyncs at the same time. Initial tests have not shown the EOF errors. However, on one backup, when rsync

Multi-tenant with receptionist features for managed service
Dear all, I'm currently researching options for a MT asterisk gui/system for a small business centre that will have 12 units in it. Each unit will be configured for one extension. The system there will have a max of 12 concurrent calls to PSTN provided via an ADSL/SDSL link to our VoIP provider in the UK, using g.711, maybe g.729 dependant on networking costs. Fallback will be to 4 analogue

Basic connection between Mitel 3300 ICP and Asterisk (trixbox) - from a clueless newbie....
Hi all, Our company has deployed a Mitel 3300 system (only about 2.5 years ago) and we are experimenting with setting up Asterisk in our head office (for business continuity, ie we have a bird flu epidemic and no-one can come in, therefore use SIP softphones at home to co-ordinate activity) and at a remote site in the Isle of Man (connected via 2Mbps SDSL) Ideally we'd like anyone on either
