wonder shaper and vsftp
I have a linux server connecto into a 100mps LAN, i use iptables implementation of shorewall (shorewall.net) and then I used the wondershaper. When I adjusted the values below, I got a download speed for vsftp at a whooping 1187.91 KB/s but a upload speed is only a painful 27 KB/s. I dont fully understand the underpinng codes behind the wondershaper htb stuff. can someone guide me on how can i

RE: CBQ-wondershaper superior over HTB-wondershaper?
Hello Thilo, What did you find superior with CBQ-wondershaper over HTB-wondershaper? We have not been using wondershaper specifically but our simple tests so far seem to show that htb is much easier to configure for a given target shape (i.,e accurate) compared to CBQ. QoS on a bridge+NAT
I have a setup where I have three NIC in a Debian box. I have eth1 conected to internet and eth0 NAT''ed to 192.168.1.1. eth1 and eth2 are bridged together, given ip 192.168.122.2. What I want to achieve is to perform traffic shaping on the bridge as well as prioritizing the traffic from eth0 very low. (This is from trental flat ...) However it seems that I am unable to perform thhe

imap problems
Hi, I''m really new to traffic shaping and try to implement the wshaper.htb script. I have a linux box that serves as vdr, mldonkey, samba, apache and mailserver (imap), connected to my LAN with 100mbit. I''m connected to the inet via adsl with a hardware router/firewall, got 384k downlink 64k uplink. When I have mldonkey running, imap (via Outlook) gets *very* slow (mails with

Qos with 2 internet connections problems
Hi all, ive got 2 internet connections set up via the nano howto (which are working great) and we are running NAT. Was looking in to qos mainly to stop large http downloads/ftp downloads from hogging the line so that browsing for other users doesnt slow to a crawl, but if the line is free and no one is doing anything then for it to use the available bandwith. The wondershaper sounded exactly what

Shared ADSL SHAPER
Hi, I''m trying to make a shaper / firewall to improve sharing of bandwidth on a ADSL (3mbit down / ½ mbit up) Since the ADSL is very asymmetric, down is unimportant, I make a ingress rate limit shaper to ensure, all shaping is at the Shaper, and not on the Router or the ISP. The Idea is then to make one HTB hierarchy and have each client (IP) filtererd and put in a child-HTB queue.

Problem attaching htb class to a htb qdisc
I''m trying to build a QoS system that would divide the outgoing traffic into four categories, each one also subdivided into two more categories. For that I chose a htb root qdisc subdivided into four classes, each of these classes contains also a htb qdisc. Until these point everything goes well, but when I try to attach a new class to the leaf htb qdisc a problem with the sintaxis

Clarification required for Prio in CBQ dequeing order
Hi, I have been modifying the Wonder shaper to include another queue. My understanding was packets would be de queued to hardware in the following order: cbq1 -> sfq10 > sfq20 > sfq30. Also we only move onto the next queue when the preceding one is empty. However is seems to be prio xx number that reflects the order packets are de queued not to what flowid they belong to. If I

Strange HFSC behavior - bug? my misconfiguration/lack of knowledge?
Hi I''m moving to hfcs (mostly succesfuly:) ), but I''ve encountered a strange problem: When I download something from this server using wget (one thread) via an idle uplink, I get no more than 130 kbit/s, and when I''m using prozilla (or start more wgets), I get about 200 kbit, but still it''s not all the link can do (240) - the rest remamins unused. Is this

Low-priority traffic
Hello, I''m a total tc newbie, and I''m trying to tweak the wondershaper script (http://lartc.org/wondershaper/) to get a slightly different result. Excuse me if I will not use the correct technical terms, it''s a whole new world to me :) wondershaper.htb creates 3 HTB classes; 1:10 is high prio, 1:20 is bulk (default), and 1:30 is low priority. The classes are

HTB mpu and overhead settings for PPPoE ADSL?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello, I''m using HTB to shape my outgoing traffic over a ADSL-link with PPPoE with a nominal bandwidth of 128kbit/s. My goal is to favour small packets like ACKs and interactive services like ssh; in other words, I want to achieve low lantency. If there are some big packets going over the wire, everything works fine. But if there are

QoS for Voip.
Thanks for the tips Brian, Actually, I have many sorts of links, line PPOE ADSL, PPPOA ADSL which a use PPTP over PPOA relay, radio links that connect in the ethernet interface and cable modems. To change the SFQ queue size I must recompile de kernel? I think a saw some messages talking about that. One other thing, I have the 1:10 a 1:20 class, let''s assume there is no

wonder shaper and ''unmetered ip addresses/ranges''
Hey, I was fiddling with wonder shaper and it works great, except in my situation I only have 1 real network interface and the other interface is a virtual interface ie eth0:0, and tc doesn''t seem to support that. I have 2 subnets, one of which goes to the router which then goes to the internet, and the other subnet which contains the rest of the computers which go through this server

Wonder Shaper under RH8
I am just starting on the list! I have a little question: I tried Wonder Shaper and i love it! The uploads no more mess with my downloads. Now i really can get all of my ADSL! But, i run wondershaper manually everytime when system reboots: ./wshaper I use RH8 and here dont have a /etc/ppp/ip-up.d to put the configuration file, like README say to me to do. Somone know where i need to put it? Or

problem with wrr+prio
I have set up wrr successfully on my bridge/shaper machine. That much works fine. I originally used sfq in the inner classes. However, there was a problem with high-bandwidth connections (web downloads, bittorrent) starving low-bandwidth low-latency connections like ssh. I would like to use prio or similar to prioritize the interactive traffic, but it does not seem to work. I have tested with

Shaping not working
Hi folks, I''m trying to shape two clients in my LAN when accessing the internet. Actual situation is that EVERY traffic goes into 1:40, so the client which should fall into 1:30 does not get the lower uplink it should have, but the uplink defined for the client defined as 1:30 When I disable the definition of 1:40, every traffic falls into 1:30 (except for the traffic defined to be in

wonder-shaper
Hi all, I need to provide shell hosting for about 40 users, and few days ago I found the wondershaper script, so Im trying to know if this script could help me to improve interactive ssh/telnet connections. Wondershaper could help me or its only efective on OUTGOINGS requests? Ok, any comment and feedback will be welcome. Sorry for my bad english and THANKS in advance.
