I've got a 2.6.8 kernel with bridging enabled as a module, two nics (LNE100TX and RTL8139) and i've run the following commands with no errors modprobe -v bridge brctl addbr br0 brctl addif br0 eth0 brctl addif br0 eth1 both interfaces have 0.0.0.0 as their addresses and brctl showmacs br0 shows the macs for both internal cards.
