Why no forum app in rails yet?
Hi Guys, So creating a forums application seems like something that rails can handle easily and well, and whatever implementation that came to fruition would be head and shoulders above existing products like vBulliten and phpBB. Even the existing rails forums are using php-based forum products! An insult if you ask me. So my question -- is there any current development of a rails-based

PHP and Rails integration
There a few php solutions that I would like to integrate with my Rails app. Namely PHPBB(No offense RForum) and WordPress. Is it possible to use these in a Rails environment, and what kind of issues/stumbling blocks would I face if I attempted to? Thanks, James -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

recommendation for rpm packaged forum/bb software for centos 5?
Subject says it all- has anyone got any recommendations for rpm-packaged forum/bb software for CentOS 5 - preferrably from a repo like rpmforge or similar so it will get updates as they come through? Yes, I can install phpBB et al from scratch but I with 'yum update' it is harder for me to miss updates :-) -- Cheers, Tony

RForum Software Sucks?
(Donning flameproof suit) Am I the only person who thinks that the Ruby forum software sucks? E.g. search only for a word. Can''t search for new posts, can''t search by date, topic list doesn''t indicate when I''ve already read a post, there can be several independent replies to a topic, just to name a few. There are lots (admittedly not Ruby based) of good

phpbb forum with rails application.
I would like to knock up a phpbb forum with a rails application. I wanted to do this as I want to use ActiveRecord to crawl through the user database in the rails app. Is there a way to do this - on the same domain name and server... Or does it depend how the server is setup? -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Forum software is rubbish.
Hi, I just tried to register for the wine forum, and noticed several really annoying things about the process: 1. The "Register" link is kind of hard to find. Normally it is just next to the "Forgot password" link. 2. No SSL. 3. You emailed me my password! Argh! This is a terrible idea for obvious reasons, and also implies: 4. Passwords aren't stored hashed. Seriously.

Forum
Hi CentOS lovers, i have already sent this email to [www-devel] but still no answer. What i propose to the comunnity is the creation of a full featured forum. Mailing lists are fine, but one losses a lot of information, how-to's, advices, and so on. I currently am a network administrator / programmer /web programmer in europe and i point the lack of centralized site with information as

rforum engine
Here''s a question for those well-versed in rforum or engines -- or both, ideally :) I''ve spent some time today turning RForum into an engine, using rails 1.0, engines trunk, and rforum 0.1 (as rforum trunk didn''t appear to work out of the box). My rforum engine works, but only when I do two things that I found by trial and error: 1) All rforum controllers subclass

New ruby/rails + others forum
I have setted up a new forum rails/ruby + php + asp.net + others. Hopefully to attract more people to join the community. [Fwd: Re: Forum]
Hi Lance, sure i can do it. Lets start it even today! just send me a list of the moderators needed. The forum is for the community but obviously we MUST have moderators. The mantainers are my suggestion. and we must create the topics of the forum. i will browse some forums this afternoon and then post a basic structure of the topics. if anyone has some ideas of topics needed just reply. InstantRails 1.0 problems...
Hi, I have installed InstantRails 1.0 Final on Win XP (Home SP2) and Win 2K 2000. I was able to get the two apps (cookbook, typo) work fine with Webrick but not with SCGI server. I tried changing the SCGI settings through the InstallRails.exe console so that the Runtime Mode: would be "development" instead of "production" and SCGI port: to 5000 instead of 9998.

multiple rails apps on one lighttpd
Good evening (or afternoon or whatever it is where you are), Before I start setting it all up, I have a question about lighttpd and multiple rails apps. From what I have read, it is at the minute only possible to do multiple rails apps using subdomains: typo.mysite.com hieraki.mysite.com rforum.mysite.com etc, etc and not currently possible to do this: mysite.com/typo mysite.com/rforums

SQLite3 + RAM drive => 3 times faster unit tests
One problem I sort of always had with the ActiveRecord''s tight coupling to the SQL backend is how slow it makes the unit tests. OK, there are some ways to make it faster at a price of extra complexity (reusing the fixtures, doing a rollback in the end of the test, etc), but still - it is much slower than what I would like a unit test to be. Today I had a very simple idea (why, oh why
