IPRoute2 vs Iptables
Hi all, As I read into the forum, NATting (SNAT) is expensive, using iptables to translate IP sucks the performance of the system. I just want to know if IProute2 can handle NATting and if it handels NATting can it performed faster than iptables? thanks, Wennie

ksoftirqd_CPU0 extreme CPU usage
Hi all, I dont know if this problem is related to shorewall, but as here we have a lot of firewall experts ... :) We are using a Leaf box (1GHz 256MB RAM) for a network with normal traffic of about 6Mbps but peaks of up to 40Mbps. The chipset of the ethernets is a Realtek. We are experiencing some high latency high CPU usage issues (the CPU is at 90%) and we discovered the process

UDP routing issues with multiple NICs
Ok, the story is this, I''m running an Unreal Tournament 2004 server. It''s running on a system that has two external NICs that are connected to different ISPs. I would like players to be able to connect to the server from either link. My default gateway goes through NIC1. For traffic through NIC2 to work I simply added an extra routing table and rule. The extra routing table has

Terrible problem, some men in my net changed their MACs! :/
Is any way to detect changed MAC adresses? Someone taught change MACs peoples in my network and I have problems. E.g. Two computers working on one MAC, and one IP (static ARP and DHCP). WinXP is screaming some message... that two computers or more have the same IP. How can I find out who''s changed MAC?

call "load balancing"
Hello All, Wondering what sort of real world mileage people are getting out of different internet connecions - i.e. different DSL connection speeds, cable modems, etc... Is it reasonable to hope to carry 10 - 15 concurrent calls on a 768K DSL? I'm not talking about theoretical BW or looking for any difinitive absolute guarantee... With DSL and Cable - there is no guarantee, so I'm

Suggestions for a new shaper
Guys Reading through my lartc mail, and thinking on how to tackle my next shaping solution, gave me an idea. I''d like to propose this idea for scrutiny and if it sounds viable I''ll definitely need to start developing in due time. For me in my day to day work with developing network application specifically geared for middle-tier ISP''s, and reading on other peoples

Asterisk 1.0.2 - Unable to allocate channel structure
Hi, This morning I had some failed calls. On the console (and in the log) I saw the error "Unable to allocate channel structure". Before I restarted the process, I checked it's memory usage in ps and glanced at my free memory in top. Asterisk was using a normal ammount of memory, about 40M. I don't think this was a system limit. This was running Asterisk v1.0.2. Below is

Hello, I''m looking how (if) can I solve the following problem using HTB and iproute2: I need to assing the same bandwidth limit to every client, but the problem is that clients will be random - i.e. I know niether number of clients no IP or MAC addresses. If anybody knows FreeBSD''s ipfw2 - I''m looking for something like "ipfw pipe 150 config mask dst-ip 0xffffffff

ARP daemon
I''m looking for a program that will replace the automatic ARP table population by the Linux kernel. The daemon should fix the MAC <-> IP entry from the IP of the first packet with that MAC received. Is there anything like this? -- damjan | дамјан This is my jabber ID --> damjan@bagra.net.mk <-- not my mail address!!! _______________________________________________ LARTC

Strange problem, please help
Hi all, First of all I repost this email in shorewall list as there are a lot of firewall experts here that might know what the hell i going on. We have also posted this on the linux bridge list (we needed acceptance first) and leaf list. Very thankful for your understanding. We are experiencing a very strange problem and would need some help. We have a Leaf / Shorewall based box (actually

Dual T400P, SMP, performance issues
Hi, We are trying to validate Asterisk as a media gateway PRI <-> SIP with two T400P (8 T1s) per box. The first experience with BOX1 (Compaq, 2.53 GHz, 1 Gb RAM) and just one T400P was encouraging - on the load test with 3 T1s worth of calls we had on average 75% idle CPU. Not so with BOX2 (Dell, single 2.6 GHz Xeon, 1 Gb RAM, 2 T400P) and BOX3 (Dell, dual 2.6 GHz Xeon, 2 Gb RAM, 2 T400P,
