AJAX Maps
Hi, I would like to know if there is a library that provides an API to support map scrolling, like the one available in google maps. This is, I would like to create a user interface where the user is able to see a small part of a large map. It can then move the view, thus observing another part of the map. Additionally, I would also like to provide a zoom mechanism. Thanks in advance. --

Streaming AAC with libshout?

Shoulda
Hey, we''re currently using shoulda (http://dev.thoughtbot.com/ shoulda/) on a project and I saw some things that would be really nice to see in rspec, namely the should_ methods, and especially the should_be_restful method. Do these go against the rspec goals at all? Or could an ambitious programmer go to town implementing these for rspec_on_rails? Nathan Sutton fowlduck at

Fwd: Rapid GUI Development with QtRuby
Just in case some of you missed it, Pragmatic Programmers just published their first of a series of short, PDF-only books. This one is on qtRuby. It would be great to have something like this for wxRuby. I don''t think wxRuby is quite ready to this (yet), but I thought I''d plant the idea. North Arrow (.png file) on a Map
Hi list. I would like to know how do I insert a North arrow, stored as a png file in my computer, in a map? I found lots of post asking similar things, one of them mentioned the pixmap package. The map was done using map() and shapefiles (the code is below). I’m using the pixmap () and addlogo() functions. Well I can import the png with pixmap() function (I guess, once there’s no error message),

Mocks in StoryRunner
Hi, I''m trying to get up and running with StoryRunner. I have a story that looks something like the following, but the call to mock_model produces the exception listed below. Am I just misunderstanding the concept? Are mocks not meant to be used in stories like this? Or is this a bug? Changing @user to be an actual AR object makes things run without error. code optimization tips
Hi, Being new to R I'm asking for some advice on how to optimize the performance of the following piece of code: > alpha_c <- function(lambda=600e-9,alpha_s=1e-14,N=400,spacing=1e-7){ > > k<-2*pi/lambda > ri<-c(0,0) # particle at the origin > x<-c(-N:N) > positions <- function(N) { > reps <- 2*N+1 > matrix(c(rep(-N:N, each = reps), rep(-N:N,

Has anyone connected to 7960 with console cable for setup?
I have a Cisco 7960 phone. I cannot seem to use the settings button to get into the phone to change the TFTP server. I've set up a DHCP Server, TFTP Server with the same address, and the phone requests the address of 0.0.0.0, the server offers the address of 192.168.2.2, but the phone seems not to take it. I have no action on the TFTP side. So, since I can't seem to server the phone

Strange error in StoryRunner (was: Mocks in StoryRunner)
Hi, I''m posting this stack trace again because it keeps popping up, seemingly as the ''default error'' when something is wrong with my story code; for instance, I got it when I referenced a variable in my ''Given'' that I had forgotten to pass into the block. Now I''m getting it when I attempt to post to a login action: And ''user is

Implement VLIW Backend on LLVM (Assembler Related Questions)
Hello, I want to implement LLVM backend for a specific VLIW hardware. I am working on defining its instruction set, and assembly language. The hardware has two pipelines, int and float. Each pipeline can do 3 operations/cycle, 3 operations forms an instruction. One of the Integer Instruction looks like this: add Ri, Rj, Rk; add Rl, Rm, Rn; add Ro, Rp, Rq An int instruction and a float

Spatial Voter Model
Has anyone coded (in R) a spatial voter model with mutation (e.g., Kimura and Weiss 1964, Holley and Liggett 1975, Durrett and Levin 1996)? In principle, it is quite straightforward, but useful simulations require many many iterations, making my "straightforward" version too time intensive. I am happy to share my version (without mutation, below), for what it is worth. Thank you in

Hmmm. RJ-45 on TDMx0B card?
Just wondering if there's any significance to the jacks on the TDM cards. They appear to be RJ-45 instead of RJ-11, and I wasn't quite sure if that's something that makes a difference from the user perspective. . . Thx. B.

NOOB: I need some Ruby/Rails Advice...
I''ve been doing lots of research about different languages and frameworks for a project I''m planning. Your help in deciding what to do would be of great assistance. I used to program in highschool for a couple years. I haven''t done much since then and I know i''m pretty useless as a programmer. I know that if i put my head to it, I could muddle my way

OT: Subversion repository layout
Hi, I''m trying to get a nice repository structure happening and was wondering what other people like to use. I''m about ready to publish a rails app. This app now lives in myapp/trunk When this app goes live I will need to freeze it so I will copy myapp/trunk to myapp/tags/release-1.0 (right?) I also would like to get going on a new version which will break the current

[ADV] New book: The Accessible Web
Gentle Web Development Folk: Just in time for RailsConf, I''m happy to announce Jeremy Sydik''s book, "The Accessible Web", is now available in beta. This is particularly sweet as Jeremy and I first discussed this book in the hallways of last year''s conference. This book is all about making your website accessible web sites-- sites that can easily be used
