[Markaby] yield instead of @content_for_layout?
We''re supposed to use yield instead of @content_for_layout, but I can''t get yield to work in a Markaby template: yield text yield Either one of these lines results in a ''no block given'' error (but ''text @content_for_layout'' works). Anybody know how to use yield instead? Thanks, Joe -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

[markaby] Trouble accessing session values.
Evaluating session variables inside a markaby paragraph tag always returns false. For example welcome.mab -- p "Good morning Mr. #{session[:user]}." -- displays: Good mornig Mr. How can I access session variables in maraby? -- Best Regards, -Larry "Work, work, work...there is no satisfactory alternative." --- E.Taft Benson -------------- next part

Markaby Installation Issues
Ok, So I followed the directions.. I did a ''gem install markaby'' (which sounds like its enough to get me going for rails), but I wasn''t sure, so I tried to install the plugin as well. Plugin installation fails looking for a file: Script/plugin install http://code.whytheluckystiff.net/svn/markaby/trunk Outputs this error: + ./trunk/svnindex.xsl

[OT] Markaby trunk and Rails ivars
Can someone explain the new Markaby syntax to me? I''m using Markaby as a Rails plugin, fetched from the trunk. I''m losing my instance variables somehow (@thing is always nil): class ThingsController < ApplicationController def index @thing = "Bacon of the chunky variety" end end # app/views/index.mab h1 { "You should see a thing here:" } p {

markaby or erb?
Guys, We''re embarking on a new dev project, and I''m curious....why would one choose markaby over erb? I for one am no fan of the erb syntax, but aside from that it''s similar to other technologies I''ve used in the past: PHP, JSP, ASP, etc. Why would one choose markaby over erb? What are the benefits? What are the drawbacks? Is there anything remarkable

[Markaby] Any workaround for Rails caching?
The ability to use Rails'' caching is very important to me. Is there any way at all to get Rails caching working with Markaby templates? Right now if I use cache tags, I get some "length" error. is there a ''Markaby_scaffold'' available?
I discovered Markaby recently, and am loving it! I''m generating scaffolds, then converting them to Markaby ''.mab'' files. It got me wondering... Has anyone written a plugin to generate scaffolds in Markaby, yet?? That would be truly awesome if there was on out there already. -- Best Regards, -Larry "Work, work, work...there is no satisfactory

Using partials with Markaby
I''m trying to use a partial from within Markaby. I haven''t been able to figure out how to access a parameter passed into the partial. Here''s the code I''m using: h1 "Create a new note" if @note render :partial => ''form/errors'', :record => @note end ... (that snippet, as well as the partial is stolen shamelessly from Restolog

Camping and ruby2ruby
Hi everybody, I would like to use ruby2ruby in a caming project, but there seems to be an incompatibility with camping, ruby2ruby and markaby. Unfortunately I receive strange Markaby::InvalidXhtmlErrors. To demonstrate, that only combination of all three components causes the problem I added the following code. I relies on Markaby and ruby2ruby only and works fine (a.k.a. as expected).

Example using Builder::XmlMarkup and .rxml files?
Greetings, I''m a newby to both "R"s in RoR. I would like to use Builder::XmlMarkup to generate my pages. If there is a working downloadable example somewhere, that would probably be enough. Otherwise, here''s what I want to do: With the following controller: class AccountsController < ApplicationController layout ''accounts'' model :account

Module Madness
I''m wanted to make a "global" module that I could include in my application for some shared code between them. I''ve been making several camping apps and wanted them all to share a helper/partial that contained the navigation. I ran into a lot of difficulty when trying to include it, the primary problem being "methodUndefined" errors. I did finally get it to

how do I start/use Markaby 0.5?
I''ve upgraded from Markaby 0.3 to 0.5 using gem install markaby. When I start my app and attempt to view my /articles/list.mab file, I get this error: Missing template .../app/views/articles/list.rhtml I checked the readme and the changlog on why''s site to see if there was any solutions mentioned, but didn''t find anything. Markaby (Markup as Ruby) plugin
With the help of Tim Fletcher, I''m glad to present a new plugin for writing HTML templates in plain Ruby. You write .mab templates in app/views/ which contain Builder-like representations of HTML. As an illustration, here is the scaffold edit.rhtml remade as Markaby: h1 ''Editing product'' start_form_tag :action => ''update'', :id =>

How do I overwrite/extend a scaffold module?
I have many pages to generate quickly. They are based off of the scaffold generator, but I want to convert the rhtml files to Markaby, and change some formatting. Without having to do a lot of repetitive hand editing. Is there a simple way to overwrite/extend part of the scaffold generator? Do I need to write my own from scratch? -- Best Regards, -Larry "Work, work, work...there is no

Extending Markaby for SVG
Hi all, I love the elegance of Markaby for HTML generation. I''d like to do something similar for SVG, e.g.: svg11 do title "Slide Title" rect({:x=>2,:y=>2,:width=>508,:height=>318,:fill=>"aqua"}) g({:style=>"fill:blue; stroke:black", :transform=>"translate(17,-38)"}) do circle({:cx=>70, :cy=>100,

Markaby syntax question
Hi, I am just getting into Rails and I thought I''d try Markaby too. I have a mab file with the following in it: form_for :user do |form| p do label "First Name:", :for => "first_name" form.text_field :first_name, :size => 40 end (... cut similar) submit_tag "Add User", :class => "submit" end

form_for not working with Markaby
I''m playing around with Markaby and I decided to write a little blog app. I''m running into issues with forms however. If I use form_for the output of the form gets swallowed. For example: form_for :article, @article do |f| f.text_field :title f.check_box :published f.text_area :description f.text_field :pub_date f.text_area :content end gets rendered as an empty form

Rails 1.1, Markaby, options_from_collection
Last night, I upgraded one of my rails apps to 1.1. This app uses Markaby exclusively for its'' views, and once I checked out the latest revisiong of Markaby (r33), everything was working fine except for one thing: select_tag(''province_id'', options_from_collection_for_select(@provinces, "id", "name")) Now returns this (as you see it is spitting

Can variables in the template be used in the layout?
This may be a silly question, but I''m wanting to develop a query to pull ''related articles'' based on tags. When a user clicks on an article to read, on that layout, I want a side menu to have the related entries. If I develop the query to do this, can I access the current tags for the entry in the layout? I guess I''m asking, does <% content_for_layout
