ActiveRecord-2.2.2, association preloading, joins and order parameter weirdness
Hello RoR Groupies,
I''m seeing some weird ActiveRecord-2.2.2 SQL generation when doing
eager association/preloading and using joins and ordering by said
join table.
Here''s an example:
class Photo < ActiveRecord::Base
end
class User < ActiveRecord::Base
has_one :headshot, :class_name => "Photo"
end
class Mail < ActiveRecord::Base
belongs_to :user
end

Webservices and submitting object with associations
Hi - is there an easy way to submit an object with its associations as
an :expects parameter to a AWS webservice?
I know I could first create a webservice method for the object, and then
call - in a loop - another webservice for each of my association
objects.
Is there an easier more elegant way, so that I don''t have to make so
many expensive webservice calls?
I was thinking

changing activerecord associations at runtime
Is there any way to change the associations of a model at runtime,
like before running a specific query?

slightly OT: opinions on best webservice implementation
We have been using more and more Ror for new applications. Right now
we are debating on the best way to implement some new webservices that
will interact with our payment gateway. These webservices will be
backend type functions. Updating customer/billing records, retrieving
data, etc.. The interface for actually processing transactions won''t
be changing.
Ideally, the webservice will

Help with Eager Association
I''ve gotten eager associations to work before, but for some reason
this isn''t working out for me this time. I''ve been scratching my head
but can''t quite figure out the nuances of what works and what doesn''t
work.
I''ve got 3 models: profile, widget_configuration and widgets

ActiveRecord, has_many association and object graphs
I am still using Rails 1.0...
I have a simple has_many association:
class Round < ActiveRecord::Base
has_many :scores
end
class Score < ActiveRecord::Base
belongs_to: round
end
When I do something like this (contrived for the sake of clarity):
rr = Round.find(params[:id])
rr.scores.each { |s|
logger.debug("object_id=#{s.round.object_id}")
}
I see a database query on

Eager loading and polymorphic association
Hi all,
Is it possible to do "eager loading" with polymorphic associations ?
Ex : I have a Page model that acts as taggable. When I do
Page.find(:all), I would like to retrieve all tags associated with a
page.
Thanks,
Thomas.

Patch for #3438: Eager loading doesn''t respect :order of associations
Hello all,
I still have a patch for #3438 (eager loading doesn''t respect
association orders); it passes all unit tests, and has additional unit
tests with full coverage. The patch is attached.
== The Bug ==
Author.find(1).posts != Author.find(1, :include => [:posts]).posts
if Author has_many :posts, :order => anything.
This means that either one must avoid eager loading or

HELP!! - ActiveRecord derivates in AWS :expects method
Hi,
I have a strange problem while using WebService API which expects an
ActiveRecord derivate.
This is the code of the API ...
------
class HarvesterApi < ActionWebService::API::Base
api_method :send_measurand,
:expects => [{:measurand => Measurand}, {:eaiSystemName =>
:string}]
end

... and this of my Model

Troll - A Rails plugin for making webservice mocking easier
Hi Folks,
Troll trumps your existing ActiveResource mocking libraries like
inbuilt HttpMock,Fakeweb or Webmock out of water. With Troll,
ActiveResource mocking just works, some of its features:
1. Don''t need to mock calls at Net::HTTP level (which webmock,fakeweb
do). Really, we don''t care what HTTP library ActiveResource uses,
fakeweb and webmock bring additional complexity

New Technique: Subsets of has_many Associations
I just now thought of this, and sure enough it works like a charm (at
least so far in my limited testing):
has_many :events, :dependent => :delete_all
has_many :upcoming_events, :class_name => "Event", :conditions =>
"date > NOW()"
The purpose of this is that it makes eager loading of subsets of
associations possible without replacing all the magic of the

how to ? Rails 3 ActiveRecord eager loading and AREL
Hello everyone,
I would like to eager load scoped records to avoid queries executed in a
loop (huge performance impact).
The "scoped" part is what is giving me a hard time.
I''m using Rails3 RC.
Does anyone have any idea how I can do it?
Here is a test case : we have an "Article" and a "Comment" Activerecord
models,
article has many comments

Overwriting / Decorating ActiveRecord association accessor
Hi,
I am trying to overwrite the accessor of a has_many association.
Basically my class looks like this:
class Person
has_many :emails
has_one :link, :class_name => ''PersonProxy''
def emails_with_link
link.emails + emails_without_link
end
alias_method_chain :emails, :link
end
Now that works fine if I only access the collection like

bug rails activerecord association join
hi,
I found a bug in ActiveRecord association SQL INNER JOIN codes. in
has_many, has_one, habtm and belongs_to queries the foreign key is
determined from the table name of reflection and self. but that''s
worng because if you use a global prefix or suffix for your tables the
foreign keys will be in format of PREFIX_CLASSNAME_SUFFIX_id which is
wrong, because it breaks the advantage of

Question: Publishing R/S objects with WebServices (SOAP/WSDL)
Hello,
Can anyone tell me if there is a package which will allow me to write a
package in R, then publish the package using WebServices? The idea is that
I want to be able to pass a data set into R, have R perform the
calculations, then send the result back to either a .Net application or a
LIMS BASIC application.
So far I see many packages that allow R to consume WebServices, but I
haven't
