Basic search, quick question
Hi, I know there are other threads about this topic, but I''ve checked
and none seem to help my problem.
I''m trying to get a simple search to work on my Rails app, but I get a
"Couldn''t find Recipe without an ID" error when I search. Here''s what I
have:
list.rhtml
<%= start_form_tag :action => ''find_recipes'' %>

Running patched rails
Hi,
Does anyone have any tips for running a patched version of rails? I am
currently running rails 1.2.2 and would like to keep up to date with any
future releases. I also want to run with the following patch:
http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/5748
I am unsure how to manage this. Is this something SVN or rake can
handle?
Any tips/pointers would be very much appreciated.
Thanks,

end
module Wackinator
class ControlAllWackos

Help creating and using database
I have this problem.
I have a Job table in my db, and each job has many steps (table Step).
Is not possible to know how many steps a job has until it is created. So
when I create a new job I have a problem: I can not have a step_id in my
Job table, because it can be one step or more.
What can I do?

InvalidAuthenticityToken from home page
I''m trying to create a log in in index.html, but I keep getting an error
about InvalidAuthenticityToken. I understand this is something that RoR
puts in the forms, and it changes regularly. The problem is that the
home page in the public folder is html, and therefore static. has anyone
else put a log in on their home page?

when I want to display the results.
require ''rubygems''
require ''RMagick''
include Magick
for font in Magick.fonts
puts font.family

Creating a file and saving in public directory
Hello,
I''m fairly new to Ruby on Rails.
I have a model called Report and I''m trying to create a text file that
is saved in a /public/report directory.
I''ve had a look at the ruby api but I can''t seem to get this working.
The current code I have is:
#report.rb
class Report < ActiveRecord::Base
after_save :write_file
def write_file
if @file_data

Ouch! Can't figure out this file upload issue...
Okay, so this is driving me crazy. I''m trying to do a file upload
using code from a book.
What happens:
I get wrong number of arguments (1 for 0) in the upload controller
save action. No idea why.
Schema:
The schema for the picture model object is just a textfield named
comments and a binary field called data.
Upload controller:
def get
@picture =Picture.new
end
def save

How to log SQL Create,Update,Delete only?
Hi everyone,
Does anyone know of a way to log SQL statements (but without the SELECT
queries)? I would like to keep track of the changes made to the
database, but I don''t want the log file to be flooded with SELECT
statements (I am using the default logger at debug level). Is it
possible to do that with the rails logger?

Migrations w/o Rails?
Does anyone know if it''s possible to use Active Record migrations in a
non-Rails Ruby application (including ActiveRecord of course). Seems
like a great tool for creating/maintaining an application database.
I''ve tried but no success so far.

Can anyone tell me how to draw a bar chart in Rails? Is there any
in-built method in Ruby on Rails (or) should i go for 3rd party plugins?
I searched and came across this "open flash chart" - i don''t know how to
customize it according to my requirement.
PS: I have attached my requirement sample for you reference.
Thanks,

Restful routes
Hi, I''m pretty new to the concept of restful routing and am struggling
to find any rails 2 info that helps with what I''m looking for.
I have a regular scaffold setup and the routes are setup as default
map.resources :pages
I would like to be able to use titles in the url rather than relying on
the id.
Eg
localhost:3000/pages/sometitle
instead of just
localhost:3000/pages/1

Way to mark record as main?
I was curious if there was a built in feature in ActiveRecord or a
plugin, but I basically have a database for phone numbers. I want a user
to be able to make a phone number as main. There can only be one phone
number marked as main at all times. Is there something for this?
Thanks for your help.

Is there a plugin that can autofill(ajax) during user input?
I haven''t done rails in a year, but can someone tell me if there is a
plugin or how much work is it to add an auto fill function like google''s
front page?
Would you just use an observer on the form or is there already a built
in class that can do this?
Thanks!

Capturing the sql from a statement without executing it?
Hi guys,
Is there an elegant way to capture the sql that would have been
executed by an ActiveRecord statement, without actually executing
it? :)
I''m imagining something like
sql = User.find(1).groups.to_sql
or perhaps
sql = ActiveRecord::Base.capture_sql { User.find(1).groups }
resulting in sql = ''SELECT * FROM groups INNER JOIN memberships....
WHERE users.id =
