LARTC Wiki
Hi all, Since the mail list receives a lot of repeated subjects (for example: "i have two adsl lines..."), maybe these specific issues should be treated on the LARTC Guide, or maybe if we had an wiki? Is there a LARTC Wiki? If not, what do you think about creating one? Thanks -- Marco _______________________________________________ LARTC mailing list LARTC@mailman.ds9a.nl

has anyone tried adsl-optmizer kernel patches for dsl modems?
Hi I''m using wondershaper like script. But noticed imperfect scheduling. By googling, I found some patches that takes the aal5 atm overhead in the scheduling algorithms. http://www.adsl-optimizer.dk/ADSL-optimizer/ Before trying it, has anyone tried these patches? they apply on 2.4.29 kernel and 2.6.9 TC. I use centos4 with a 2.6 kernel, so I can''t try these easily. Thanks

Lartc documentation version?
Hi guys, I''m just lurking and learning. Went to the lartc web page to read the howto. The page says the current version is 1.0.0 but in the pdf, on page 2 it says "Revision: 1.43" - Which is it? Also, the instructions for cvs checkout gives me this: Logging in to :pserver:anon@outpost.ds9a.nl:2401/var/cvsroot CVS password: cvs [login aborted]: connect to

Delay packets by 50ms
Hi all, I am trying to solve a tiny problem that is trivial to solve using dummynet (FreeBSD). I just want to add a delay of 50ms to each outgoing packet from an interface. This is to simulate a large pool of multiple modem users so I also need to add b/w limits etc (which seems to be easy to do). From the mailing list I could fine 2 qdiscs that can simulate latency : "delay" &

iproute2 tool compiling problems.
Hi all. This is my first msg in this list, and I´d appreciate any help you could give me. I already compiled the kernel with the options to run iproute2 tools. But, when I download the iproute2-2.4.7-now-ss010824.tar.gz file from ftp://ftp.inr.ac.ru/ip-routing/ and try to compile it, I got too many errors. Here goes the output: server:/home/nathan/iproute2# make make[1]: Entering

Optimizing linux for the routing of realtime video
I''m currently trying to optimize a linux machine which acts as a Layer 3 router of RTP H.263 video. Occassionally I''ll get delays related to layer 2 wireless retries, thus rendering the video on the recieving end stale/useless. Is there way to optimize a linux machine to route realtime video? In my case, losing a few frames of H.263 is better than having the video delayed

qdisc/filter to drop all packets
I''m looking for a way to configure a qdisc or filter to drop all packets. The logic behind this is that I''m using the u32 hashing tables to get move my filters from iptables to tc filters. This will translate into much less per-packet processing for me. However, I need a way to drop any packets that don''t match any of the filters. Paul C. Diem PCDiem@FoxValley.net

HOWTO unmaintained?
Hi, more than a month ago I proposed an addition to the HOWTO to address a certain packet classification problem/bug and how to fix it (see http://mailman.ds9a.nl/pipermail/lartc/2005q3/016728.html). I never received any reaction from the HOWTO maintainers, not even when addressing them directly (see mail below). Given that a month has gone by: Is the HOWTO currently unmaintained? Regards,

netem usage example
I''m trying to setup a netem delay with no luck (using iproute2-2.6.8, compilation broke during arpd compile, so I use the tc binary in the tc/ subdir, there''s also a q_netem.so there). kernel is 2.6.8.1, compile with CPU cycle counter as time reference. I was using sch_delay of 2.6.7 happily with something like: tc qdisc add dev eth0 root 1: delay latency 1ms rate 35M now I use:

RE: LARTC digest, Vol 1 #1523 - 17 msgs
Hi Roy, It seems that I wasn''t clear. Lets give an example. I have a machine with a single ethernet interface, with two IP addresses A and B. This is done using two virtual interfaces. A is my IP address in ISP-A. B is my IP address in ISP-B. The physical line to ISP-A is 1.5Mbps. The physical line to ISP-B is 256kbps. I want to shape the traffic so that, for example, HTTP traffic
