[LONG] Weird problem with HTB using htb.init
This is a long message. Please use a monospace font :)
I''m trying to shape the traffic between my LAN and the Internet. My link is an
ADSL 512/128 line. The network is shaped like this:

htb-gen 9.0beta (htb frontend with web-frontend for home/small/medium ISPs)
original at: http://www.praga.org.ar/wacko/DevPraga/htbgen
Htb-gen has evolved a lot since it release in feb/2006, but i have no
time to make a public decent documented and generalized release.
But right now i think that is better to put the stuff here, so others can
enjoy the notorious improvements (and maybe someone whants to help out)
Lets go to the hacks:
I have made 2 flavors of htb-gen

linux bridging and htb.init / cbq.init
Hello,
I''am successful using a linux (2.4.20) bridge and the cbq.init_v0.7
script for traffic shaping. But I can only use the queuing discipline
tbf (LEAF=tbf). If I try use queuing discipline sfq or none then tc
applies the rules but no shaping occurs.
Is this problem a normal behavior when using bridging ?
I tried to use htb.init (using patched tc binary). It accepts
the rules but

U32 filters in htb.init?
I want to use a filter to shape outbound traffic (upload from the
client side) in eth0.
Manually I should do this by doing something like this:
tc filter add dev eth0 parent 1:0 protocol ip prio 100 u32 match ip
src 192.168.0.50 classid 1:59
How can I do this with HTB.init?

HTB.init for zebra BGP
Hi,
I have successfully shape bandwidth using htb.init using ip address , but
when i try to shape zebra BGP using their ip address and BGP port it can''t
match the class for BGP and always get the default class.
Here''s my htb.init script in the bridge :

RATE=128kbit
RULE=192.168.192.163
RULE=192.168.199.22
RULE=*:179
#eth1-2:50.bgp

HTB Web server lag
Hi
I am runnning redhat 9 (2.4.20-8) I am using HTB (Sorry dont know
version) and am also running a web server on the same machine. When I pass
alot of traffic through the box it slows down the box ability to contact
devices on the lan and also devices trying to contact the web server on that
same box, even though i have SFQ as leaf off the deafult. For example the
NFS mounts onto the

HTB: re-init
Hi there,
Being a strong believer in "There is no such thing as a stupid
question", here comes nothing...
At the moment I am working my way through the "HTB Linux queuing
discipline manual - user guide" and I have a question...
I implement the tc commands using a simple bash script. But I have yet
to find a way to adjust the settings. Whenever I do "tc filter del dev

IMQ htb question
Hello,
I''ve just recently started to use IMQ and I got puzzled after seeing the
imq usage example on the linuximq.net site:
It was something like this:
tc qdisc add dev imq0 handle 1: root htb default 1
tc class add dev imq0 parent 1: classid 1:1 htb rate 1mbit
tc qdisc add dev imq0 parent 1:1 handle 10: htb default 5
tc class add dev imq0 parent 10: classid 10:1 htb rate 256kbit

BURST and CBURTS on HTB.init 8.3
why the exemple in the htb.init of the BURST e CBURST comes with values if the dafault is computed?
Is it better to put these values manualy?
How can I calculate the values?

htb.init question
>From the htb.init script:
# <clsid> is class ID which is hexadecimal number in range 0x2-0xFFFF,
# without the "0x" prefix. If a colon-delimited list of class IDs is
# specified, the last <clsid> in the list represents ID of the class in
# the config file.
No problem of course, but what is the reason that a class-ID cannot be
''1''?

HTB and BOND Interface
Hi!
Is it HTB fully compatible with BOND interface?
I have this setup (mode= fault tolerance) :
BOND0 -> ETH0 + ETH1
BOND1 -> ETH2 + ETH3
( http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/marcelo/linux-2.4/Documentation/networking/bonding.txt
)
HTB work very well with Class over BOND0.
If I add Class for BOND1 it generate balance errors.
Also with HTB.init

HTB
Hi, I have the following questions:
I only have one htb computer (2 nics) to shape the international traffic
as well as the metropolitan traffic (i have a list of metropolitan ip''s to
use). Can this be achived using iptables with packet marking (on that htb
computer the 2 nics are bridged)?
If it can will there be delays introduced by the shaping operation (the
metropolitan link is a

mysterious rebounce in htb
Attached is a graph obtained with ethereal where after time +/-45s there is
a rebounce which I can''t explain.
Setup is this:
- my machine starts to generate traffic at maximum speed against a
target machine (using nc < /dev/zero here and nc -l > /dev/null there)
- traffic pattern is:

20s: dst port 8000 (blue)
40s: kill port 2500 traffic

no default leaf on HTB
Hello,
I have a linux bridge setup and am using HTB to bandwidth manage traffic
passing through the bridge.
I want to manage "some" of the traffic passing through the bridge. I
figured I can do this if I dont define a "default" class on the qdisc.
I will only config classes for traffic I want to manage.
Assume that i Have traffic for network 10.0.0.0/24 passing through the
