Screening packets within tc-classes
Hello list, I''m currently a bit planless so perhaps someone here could give me a point in the right direction. History: I wrote a shaper web tool (http://shaper.netshadow.at) and now got several feature requests if it would be possible to graph "what''s going on" (this mean per IP address, tcp/udp ports or protocols) in a specific chain. A chain represents a specific

services do not get restarted
Hello List, We are using puppet to manage a growing number of Debian Etch based servers (currently 70). Since upgrading to 0.22.4 we encountered a problem when services do not restarted on puppets request. For example the Nagios remote plugin executor daemon (nrpe). It''s running daemonized and its confiugration is located in /etc/nagios/nrpe.cfg. This file is managed through puppet

I am trying to shape my upstream bandwidth, mostly per port. and I am having some problems getting things to work the way I want them to. before I throw my configuration at you guys ;), I`d like to debug it by myself - but I was not able to find a tool that allow me to monitor current bandwidth usage per port (and preferably even per port+ip). I want to know what is the current bandwidth

bonding tap devices
Hello list, Please don''t shoot me. I know I''m doing something with bonding that bonding wasn''t made for. I just want to give it a try. I want a simple mechanism to have a failover on a 24Mbit line to a 2Mbit line in case the 24Mbit line goes down. Between A and B there are two lines: a 24Mbit and a 2Mbit. I use two OpenVPN tunnels with tap devices: +-- tap0 (A)---

IPv6, ULAs and FreeBSD
Hello, I already consulted related lists @freebsd.org [1,2] but I have remained unsuccessful to solve the following issue: VPN works for an internal IPv4 subnet, but I doesn't for an internal IPv6 subnet with ULAs. To be honest, I don't have any experience setting up a local IPv6; so I guess that I'm doing something wrong here. For those that know FreeBSD: The main aim is to connect

Exclude service from IPSec, using ipsec-tools
Hi All, I''m trying to setup a VPN Between a Linux Box (CentOS 4) and Check Point FW-1 (NGX R65) and I actually already done this. However I''m having a problem with Policy "none" when using ports, for example, I want to exclude from VPN the "ssh" service, so my commands to setkey was. # Excluded services ssh spdadd 172.20.0.0/16[any] 172.16.0.0/16[22] tcp -P

IP address change
A while back samba was installed on a machine with IP address 10.1.0.19, default router 10.1.0.1. The IP address was recently changed to 10.2.0.57, default router 10.2.0.1. The share used to be available across our network as specified by hosts allow. However, since the IP Address change ONLY 10.2 machines can see the share. It is no longer available to the whole network. The server itself can be

Hello, I''m trying to put 3 nodes in a vpn in tunnel mode. When I run setkey on the following file, I end up with The result of line 33: File exists. That error isn''t overly helpful, so I was hoping that someone could explain the issue. Here''s the file, with line 33 highlighted. Help appreciated. IPSec Racoon and Port Forwarding
Hello, I have given myself quite the headache trying to make this VPN work correctly. I am attempting to use racoon to establish keys and construct an encrypted tunnel between one host(A.A.A.A) with a routable IP address and another that has a private address(10.0.0.2) with a cable modem(B.B.B.B) forwarding all ports to the private address(10.0.0.2). Here is a quick topographic dipiction of the

IPSec tunnels and routing: strange behaviour
Hello, My name is Fermín Galán and I''m currently working with IPSec tunnels. Recently, I was setting a IPSec tunnelling sample scenario (maybe the simplest one :), where I observed some strange behaviour that I like to describe in the list, just in the case somebody knows what can be the cause, please. The scenario involves four hosts configured in the following way:

IPsec - got ESP going, but not AH
Hi folks, I've been working on getting my WiFi network running with IPsec. I'm at the point where all traffic on the wifi subnet is encrypted (i.e. ESP). Then I tried to add AH to the equation. I failed. This picture describes the network setup: http://beta.freebsddiary.org/images/ipsec-wireless.gif Here's what I'm trying and failing with. With these rules, I get no

strange behavior of ipsec tunnel mode
hello i am trying to set up ipsec in my network, for now just between two hosts, using to use AH & ESP in tunnel mode to get all of packet encrypted. keys are negotiated with racoon. mayby using tunnel mode in this case can seems strange, but i know what i am doing. after setting up everything i have done few tests with ping & tcpdump. but the results are very suprising. bellow is what i
