form_for onsubmit
Is there a reason I can''t find any information on using the onsubmit
attribute with form_for? I''d hate to *gasp* hardcode the form tag in.

random mysql error
Does anyone get the following error at random?
Mysql::Error: Lost connection to MySQL server during query: <query here>
It only happens on my development machine which, unfortunately, is a windows
box. It happens like every 10 clicks, but varies. I''ve got MySQL 5.

"biplot" graphical options?
Dear R-help fellows
good afternoon.
I am struggling in the attempt to impose some graphical conditions (changing point symbols, colors, etc) to biplot function (I am using it to visualize the results of princomp) but I can't apparently manage to change anything but the axis... and I have been browsing manuals and vignettes without finding any explicit suggestions on how to operate...

Authorisation question
My authentication (signup/login) is up and running in my app, now I need
to implement an authorisation system. Its not going to be a complex
one. One admin (me) and then normal members and premium members. Any
tutorials or tips on a simple way to get this running? Thanks.

ruby script/server webrick

Links go to ''localhost''
I am using Apache2.2 + Mongrel on my machine.
Now I am accessing it over LAN. When I enter http://mymachinename/myapp
it opens fine but when I click on any link in my rails app, it replaces
mymachinename with localhost (http://localhost/myapp/controller/action)
and thus I am unable to access it from remote location.

NOT FOUND error
I''ve been hunting the web and reading the mailing lists all day but
I''m not finding any guidance on this problem. When I try to talk to my
mongrel it simply responds with NOT FOUND and nothing else. I can''t
find anything on google because this has to be the second most commond
phrase in existence.
Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,

rpmbuild environment CentOS5 vs CentOS6
On CentOS5 I was used to create a simple spec file where at the end I'll
declare files and directories I wan't to package:
--< Snip >--
%files
%dir /opt/myapp
%dir /opt/myapp/bin
%dir /opt/myapp/etc
/opt/myapp/bin/exec01
/opt/myapp/etc/myapp.conf

I'll copy the file in /usr/src/redhat/SPECS and run "rpmbuild -bb
myapp.spec".
On CentOS6 rpm-build package no longer

Feature question/request
So I have a bunch of users who are roaming - IE no static IP address from all
over the internet. Some of them are able to use SMTP-AUTH which is great, but
for those that can't, a pop before smtp solution is in place using
relay-ctrl-age & cdb files via qmail.
Would it be desirable to have this feature in dovecot? I'd really like to
ditch qmail-pop3d, etc.
vpopmail has a

where to install script.aculo.us ?
I''d like to try autocompletion, and my understanding based on AWDWR:2,
and on various website tutorials, is that I should install the
script.aculos.us
javascript library.
My question is how to do that. The instructions on their site tell me
to "Put prototype.js, scriptaculous.js, builder.js, effects.js,
dragdrop.js, slider.js and controls.js in a directory of your website,

OT: Subversion repository layout
Hi,
I''m trying to get a nice repository structure happening and was
wondering what other people like to use.
I''m about ready to publish a rails app. This app now lives in myapp/trunk
When this app goes live I will need to freeze it so I will copy
myapp/trunk to myapp/tags/release-1.0 (right?)
I also would like to get going on a new version which will break the

odbcConnectAccess function
HI:
Is it possible to use the RODBC package within MS Access. I have been using from R but was just wondering if it could be used along with R(D)COM. Something like this:
Dim dbs As DAO.Database
Dim rst As DAO.Recordset
Dim myApp As StatConnector
Set myApp = New StatConnector
myApp.GetErrorText
myApp.Init "R"
myApp.EvaluateNoReturn "library(RODBC)"

Win32 issues with 0.3.13
Hey,
I have just a few observations to report about the new version of Mongrel
(0.3.13) on Win32.
1. When installing a new service, I have to use -N instead of -n to set the
name of my app. The help file (-h option) has this right but the examples
and such on the website all use -n.
2. The website documentation on the Win32 howto lists service::delete as a
command but it should be

Capgem 0.1 Released
I''ve put up a first release of Capgem on Rubyforge. It''s available under the
MIT license.
Capgem is an extension to Capistrano which adds a pack task to Capistrano so
you can package up your Rails application as a Gem. This is useful if you
are in an environment where Capistrano''s remote deployment tools aren''t an
option. Capgem currently adds start and stop
