fw as filter broken?
Can someone verify that using fw as a filter in iproute2-2.6.11-050330 is broken. Doesn''t seem to work in any case and I saw an earlier post that would lead me to believe this is the case. If so does anyone have a temporary fix? Thanks, Troy

IFB working
How to use IFB as replacement of IMQ There is not much documentation about it Please explain with example -- Failure seldom stops you. What stops you is the fear of failure. _______________________________________________ LARTC mailing list LARTC@mailman.ds9a.nl http://mailman.ds9a.nl/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/lartc

[PATCH 2.6] update to network emulation QOS scheduler
This patch updates the network emulation packet scheduler. * name changed from delay to netem since it does more than just delay * Catalin''s merged code to do packet reordering * uses a socket queue''s directly rather than layering on qdisc(fifo) because this is used in performance tests. * adds placeholder in API for future enhancements (rate and duplicate).

Too slow computer?
Hello! I''ve put some questions on this list some weeks ago and I''ve got good answers. Thank you! Now I''ve finished my (beautyful) script and I ran it on my router... About my script: It routes packages based on their destination on the Internet. I have about 1650 preffered destination networks listed in some file. The script read this file and marks every package for

(no subject)
Hi all, I''m having a hell of a time getting my IFB to work. I know I''ve done this before, so I''m missing something stupid. Can anybody tell me what it might be? Configs as follows: -------- #!/bin/sh modprobe ifb numifbs=1000 modprobe act_mirred modprobe 8021q brctl addbr br0 brctl setfd br0 0 brctl stp br0 off brctl addif br0 eth1 brctl addif br0 eth2 ifconfig eth1

modprobe ifb
I''m trying to set up a traffic control on ingress attaching a egress qdisc to the ifb device. The idea is to use a RED algorithm instead of policing the incoming traffic. After trying with tc-red and not obtaining the expected results, I decided to try with something easier, and use htb as bottleneck: ifconfig ifb0 up tc qdisc del dev $dev ingress tc qdisc del dev ifb0 root tc qdisc add

IFB & 802.1q
Hello What I''m looking for is how to configure the Linux QoS module to do global rate limitation for two (or more) 802.1q pseudo network devices. I naturally suppose there is a possibility with IFB. I don''t want to use IMQ because it''s not integrated to my kernel v2.6.21.1 and I didn''t find IMQ patches for it nor for the iptables package I use (v1.3.7).

Routing through dummy interfaces?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I have a linux system with 4 ethernet interfaces, eth0 goes to the internet, eth1, eth2, and eth3 are NAT''d LANs. I want to use an ingress filter to prioritize bandwidth (downstream from internet) to various IPs. I want to sett it up something like this.... eth0 <--[NAT]--> dummy0 <---> dummy1 <---> eth1,eth2,eth3 dummy1

Shorewall & IFB
Hello Tom! After i read and analyze some docs about IFB i decide that for implement this feature in Shorewall not need more efforts (of course i may be wrong). If we have 'ifb0' device then we must activate ingress discipline on real device (f.e. eth2) and redirect 'egress' from it to 'ifb0'. tc qdisc add dev eth2 ingress tc filter add dev eth2 parent ffff: protocol ip

Ingress policing (matching netfilter marks)
Hi, I''m having issues with policing my incoming traffic by matching packet marks made by iptables. I''ve checked as many sites and guides as I can find, and I seem to be doing the exact same thing as they all are, but there''s still no success. As such, I was wondering if anyone can have a quick look to see if I''ve done anything obviously stupid? Essentially, I

Info about IFB
Hi, I''m looking for info about IFB devices and how I can use it to incomming traffic shapping. Has IFB any web about it? Do any body known where I can find more info about it? I found this: http://linux-net.osdl.org/index.php/IFB But I can''t stand fine how to use it to allow many ifb''s devices or how to use it with "tc actions". Any help? Thanks --

Asterisk QOS working perfect using sveasoft 3.11g
As seen on my post at: http://www.sveasoft.com/modules/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=28112#28112 This works very well... It does NOT work with stable 4.0! sveasoft will be issuing a bug fix for this (4.1) in the near future. Final Rev of working script w/ asterisk support I'm not going to run alchemy on production machines until it is stablish. Remember to set your uplink properly and to set

ifb and ppp
Hello! My goal is to setup an ingress traffic shaping on my PPPOE DSL line with ifb. My old imq stuff used iptables marks (like ''iptables -t mangle -A PREROUTING -p tcp --sport 22 -m length --length :500 -j MARK --set-mark 31'') to classify the traffic and since i am lazy, i tried to to reuse them with ifb. But no luck: iptables marks the packets well, but tc

Question about how TC enforces bandwidth limiting
Hello, I run one of my PCs as my personal router, with iptables+tc to control traffic and be my firewall. In TC, I use a combination of htb, qdisc and sfq (as well as prio) to classify bandwidth. In my current setup, I have 10 classifications of my bandwidth. (Even I admit this is probably more than I need, but at this point I''m still learning, so I''ll just leave them be.)
