changing 802.1p priority
Hi All, Is it possible to mangle the 802.1p priority bit on a packet as it gets bridged? I can''t find anything in either the iptables or ebtables docs to tell me how it''s done. 802.1p
Hi, I'm trying to configure some Quality Of Service among an Asterisk server with RedHat3 and some IP phones on my LAN. I read about 802.1p (level 2) QoS, using 3 bits of VLAN tag. Two questions: - do I need to use tagged links (trunks) end-to-end? In other words, do all ports on all switches from phones to server need to be configured as 'tagged'? - how can I configure ethernet card

Latency woes, qos the fix?
My latency is kind of high and the voice delay is noticeable. The Asterisk server is on a dedicated host outside of the network. New game "Das schwarze Auge: Drakensang"
Hello Wine Users, I am thinking about buying the game "Das schwarze Auge: Drakensang" (German homepage (http://www.dsa-game.de/), English homepage (http://www.drakensang.info/)). But I will only do it if I am able to play it under Linux. Does someone have the game already and tried to get it running with Wine? Regards, Benjamin

FINDNEXT problem, w2k and linux smbfs
I have inconsistent directory listing on share mounted on linux from windows 2k. Some time not all files appear in the directory listing. If reading directory listing multiple times (60-200 times) files listed originally would have one or two files missing in one of consecutive lists. The same problem appear as well if you are making backup of Windows files from multiple directories, there are

IPQoS
Real networks use either PREC (as it maps 1:1 to 802.1p and MPLS TC) or DSCP. Interactive SSH uses PREC 0x0, which is just best-effort and DSCP 0x4 which has no standard meaning (found network where DSCP 0x4 was dropped, completely, as it didn't hit any defined/allowed QoS class, obviously misconfig, BE class should eat anything not already defined) Should interactive use TOS value which has

RTP/SIP traffic prioritization and Linux issues
Hello, all. I've stumbled across what seems to be a traffic prioritization issue in a Linux environment and wonder if anyone else has encountered or addressed this issue. We had planned to use expedited forwarding for our RTP and perhaps our SIP packets. Our plan was to set DSCP to 101110 (by the way, I think document http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/snom+360 is in error as I'm almost

Yes, I know - I also don't know if it is the right tool for it ... but that's why I'm asking here ;) >>So if a user wants to hear record A, then a stream should be opened >>(maybe a new mount point ?) and only this user should be allowed to hear >>the

I highly recommend the open source Jinzora project (http://www.jinzora.org/). It has merged with and extended the capabilities of the older NetJuke project. It's geared towards authenticated, on-demand playback and supports many formats, ogg included. I've been thoroughly impressed with the quality of the package, it's GUI options, and its robustness. I personally use icecast2 to

Size limit for initrd in PXELINUX?
Hi Peter, (at least I hope it is you, who gets this mail) I have a problem while booting over the netwoork using PXELINUX. When I use a initrd smaller or equal 16 MB, everything works fine, but when I increase the size, the system doesn't boot. In case of a 32 MB initrd (same content, just bigger), I get the error-message, that the system couldn't mount root. From 64 MB on, the system

Unable to REGISTER to the Asterisk v1.8.3.3 server via SIP/TLS
Hello all, I have installed the .deb packages of the Asterisk v1.8.3.3 from the upstream project on my Debian GNU/Linux Squeeze server and bought the Comodo's PossitiveSSL SSL certificate to be used for my SIP/TLS exercise. After setting up everything and trying to fix this problem, I am still getting a 401 Unauthorized SIP message. So as of this writing, I still cannot successfully REGISTER

Call quality problems
I'm having difficulty with an Asterisk system. The external party has very good call quality, but the internal party hears clipping and drop outs. The WAN comes in from the Cisco IAD and into a LAN switch (DLink DGS-1005D w/ 802.1p) where the two public IPs are switched to different devices. One device is a FireBox device controlling a separate LAN with VPNs. The other device is eth0
