gid and uid
hi! I'm studing samba as PDC (with ldap backend) and I would know: - gid and uid are useful in samba? in other words: if pdc admin knows users' uids, he can recovery some wrong situations ? Example: if a user was cancelled and then readded, if his uid changes implies some troubles with shared files? NT mantains, after deletion, association between shared file and uid user and so if

load balancing and fault tolerance in networking
Hi! I''m studying load balancing and fault tolerance using multiple WAN interfaces. I follow the howto in http://www.ssi.bg/~ja/nano.txt but the problem is that faults detected are limited only in link between lan gateway and modem/router adsl, and none about adsl signal. Someone can tell me another howto about fault tolerance using a different method? (that solve my problem) I know

In smb.conf man I found "get quota command" and " set quota command" but I didn't understand if I can use them to set share quota and I didn't find documents about it. Anyone knows a

htb and priorizing class
Hi! I''m testing tc and htb. In my test prio doesn''t act like doc (htb manual) explains. In particular I set 3 subclass htb each having rate 33Mbit, ceil 100Mbit. I also set a class having 100Mbit like parent of these 3 subclasses. If only 2 classes use bandwidth I note that total bandwidth is equally shared between these (and it''s right). If I set different priority

tcpdump loses lots of packets
Hi folks, I've got a Dell R320 running CentOS 7, and a 10G NIC. I'm running a DNS server on it, for testing. As part of my testing, I'm attempting to capture all the DNS queries arriving on the server, using tcpdump. However, tcpdump's performance is abysmal, and it loses lots of the packets. Here's the output when I stop the capture: # tcpdump -nn -i p1p1 -w

I''m trying to setup a bottlekneck scenario so I can see the effects of the RED qdisc on a congested interface. My example simulation code is at the bottom of this email if someone wants to see it. The following is a snippet form TCSIMs output. 0.602000 E : 0x80bc080 40 : inputB_eth0: 45000028 00000000 40060000 ... 0.602000 D : 0x80bc080 40 : inputB_eth0: 45000028 00000000 40060000 ...

example/dsmark+policing => tcsim outputs are different
Hi folks I have created a script file (dsmark+policing.sh attached) to check graphic an text outputs of simutations, against original examples/dsmark+policing coding (see TCNG Reference Manual-pg.90). It uses tcng coding (*.tcsim file attached) and old tc coding (*.tcsim_old file attached) inserted in tcsim files. Observation 1: The graphic outputs from (*.tc included in *.tcsim) and (*.tc_old
